Schwamm Sez: Basics (4.1)

Recommended Posts

For reference, previous Shwamm Sez posts can be found here:

Intro:  Introduction

Basics (1):  Know and Understand Your League's Scoring

Basics (2): Know Your Opponents

Basics (3):  Know the Talent

Basics (4):  Be Consistent, Not a Homer

Before we get into pre-draft preparation, I just wanted to summarize...

If you're gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.

You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,

Know when to walk away and know when to run.

You never count your money when your sittin' at the table.

There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

or maybe I just wanted to see if anyone's still paying attention.

I'm reading. Have not been by the board for a good amount of time the past week or so. I just don't know if me being the only one to speak up is enough for you to continue.

No worries. I've run into a stretch of days where I just don't have as much time. I've received a couple PMs expressing appreciation, I can see that the posts are at least attracting views, and its starting to become enjoyable just to irritate John Dee... :)

The reality is that I put a bunch of this stuff together 8 years ago (hadn't realized it had been so long until I checked file dates) for a friend who could never climb out of the cellar of any league he joined. I'm essentially just editing it for this audience, with more current player info, and trying to re-parcel it into blog sized bites.

Interesting that someone so experienced in the game, so abhorrent of the idea that strategy be shared, so inclined to dismiss it all as copy/paste stuff... is also clearly taking a peak at all the posts.

You'd think you be more inclined to just dismiss me as incapable of providing useful info and ignore my ramblings.

Hmmm. Methinks thou dost protest too much.
