It involved the Ravens and Vikings, if I recall correctly.  One team ran out of time.  The NFL rule is that if the team runs out of time, the next team can make a selection with the previous team being allowed to submit their selection at any time.  I think the Vikings ran out of time, so the Ravens submitted their pick before the Vikings submitted theirs, even though the Vikings were ahead of the Ravens.  At the end of the day, both teams got who they wanted.

The Vikes got borderline HoF DT Kevin Williams. It worked out.

CR91 made his pick at 9 AM EST and we're giving 6 hours per pick for the first round, so Superman has another 2.5ish hours.  We're nearly done the first round anyway and it's just been one day, so I don't think we're in a huge hurry.

Okay. I was just wondering, as I want to be ready with my pick when my time comes. I certainly don't want to keep everyone waiting hours. So I check here every couple of hours.

I dont expect them to be realistic. But I also dont expect them to be so unrealistic that things like the cap and team futures get thrown out the window. Player trades fly in the face of both, at least some of them have in this mock.

With pick only trades, at least we have the draft trade chart for reference. Its not perfect, but at least people try to "make them realistic" by loosely adhering to a chart we all have access to.

PS Im not saying we should start over; it's too late for that, but maybe the next one we do, keep players from being tradeable assets.

I agree that we should not start over. I wrote what I did to deter further unrealistic trades.

Last year I traded Adrian Peterson to Dallas (Jvan) for their 2nd Rd pick. Being a Vikings fan, I knew he was on the decline. I used Jerry Jones' admiration for AP to get a pick. I also agreed to pay a large part of his salary. I thought asking for a 1st was not realistic, based on recent NFL history. I tried to make it as realistic as possible by paying part of his 2016 salary and not asking for a ridiculous amount of picks.

I think something like that can work. I also think the Saints trade for Butler is realistic.

I really love the pace of this draft  (knocking on wood not to jinx it). Maybe more folks being close to draft fever has sped this thing up better than last time. :)

I like it too. I think what helps is that there are fewer participants and the ones who are participating are active on the forum daily.

In addition, since we are not waiting hours between picks, it keeps members interested.

The reasoning behind that is that most teams wont make those decisions until they know who is on the board at there pick.

    That's true.

The trade I made with Tweezy (Jets) was based on what happened in the last mock draft we did. By the time the Vikes made their 1st pick (in the 2nd rd), all the players that I wanted to draft at that spot went in the early second round.  I figure if I move up 9 spots in the 2nd, some of the guys I want to draft will be there.

The Jets move up 21 spots in the 3rd. Both teams kept the same number of picks.

I definitely dont think it makes sense to be trading up or down before the draft even starts. But most of the pick for pick trades wouldnt have been unheard of deals if the teams were on the clock.

Teams wouldn't make them if they aren't on the clock.  That's part of my point

Many of the trades that have already occurred in the NFL this offseason have been to move up or down in the draft. See New England's trade with Carolina and Baltimore's trade with the Eagles.

Id probably say no anyway, but i am curious on your take on Teddy. Not in a GMsense, but just fan to fan.

As a fan, I cannot wait for Teddy's return. As a realist, I am not sure what will happen to him. That was a horrific injury. I hope he comes back.

I believe we would have made the playoffs last year if Teddy had played the whole year. Bradford has better stats but when the game is on the line, he does not step up his game. He was disappointing in key games last year. We went 7-8 with him at QB.

Yeah I'm not sure what station etc but he has his own show...like the Dan Dakich of the NFL...it's truly awful. I just remember him doing games and his radio show too....I never want to hear him again. I thought he was on CBS as well...not in the booth but in the studio. Come to think of it he is probably on cbs radio now....soon to be sent off to the CFL hopefully.

Boomer Esiason seems to be everywhere. He has a daily morning show in NY called "Boomer and Carton". It replaced "Imus in the Morning" which was heard around the country. Boomer does a lot of night games on the radio (Monday Night Football and I believe Sunday Night Football sometimes).  He has that pre-game football show on CBS (TV). He also does a pre-game football show for Westwood One on the radio. Whenever he comes on, I turn the show off. I find him annoying. I liked Simms and Lynch (now 49ers GM) better.
