  1. I too would not trade for Cousins. How many back-up QBs have come in and played well only to disappoint when they are named the starter on another team. I can think of Matt Flynn, Kevin Kolb, & Matt Cassel. Back -ups that have had continued success once thy are the starters seem to stay on the same team. For example, Foles and Kapernick did not change teams. The only QB in the recent past that has had relative success as a starter after being a backup on another team is Matt Shaub. Alex Smith does not count, as he had been the starter originally in SF. Can you think of anyone else?

So, no, I am not giving an early round draft pick for Cousins.

  2. It's called political correctness. Don't be naive. The same thing, in varying form, is said by most valued FA's. Its always about the money, because if it wasn't, the Raiders would never have been able to spend any money on anyone. The Raiders haven't done anything in over 10 years yet they somehow continue to lure high price FA's. It's always about the money as it's still a business.

What do you expect Decker to say? Should he have said that he will go to the team that offers the most money? Had he said that, football fans would call him "classless". He responded in what is considered the "classy" (or PC) manner.

Having said that, Justin Tuck told a radio station in NY that money was the #1 factor in his decision to re-sign with the Giants or sign with another team. He was unequivocal in saying that. While I was surprised by that, given that he is such a "classy" guy, I appreciated his candor. I would love Tuck to play for my team but as an NFL fan, I prefer that he remain with the Giants and finish his borderline HOF career in NY/NJ.

  3. A competitive game cannot be "humiliating" unless a Leon Lett or Joe Pisarcik type play occurs. The '07 Super Bowl was very competitive and either team could have won with a play here or a play there. The result was very disappointing for Pats fans but it certainly was not embarrassing or humiliating. This year's SB was over by the beginning of the 3rd

quarter, if not earlier. Denver looked unprepared for Seattle's defense and special teams. Seattle beat Denver in every aspect of the game. To me, no doubt about it, this was the most humiliating loss in a SB. The Giants loss to the Ravens is a close second but the Giants did not have a HOF-bound QB and the Ravens D was considered the one of the best in football history. So, not much was expected from the Giants. Denver this year was favored to win and lost in humiliating fashion.

  4. This is my first post on Colts Forum. I am pleased to have found it, as almost all the posters here discuss the issues in a respectful and intelligent manner.

Anyway, it is good that the posters have stopped responding to the lone person who is defending Incognito. Like others, I cannot understand how anyone can defend Incognito. His behavior is not only unacceptable, but arguably criminal. He bullied at least 3 individuals, including a trainer. He sexually molested a woman at a charity golf event. He has a history of being kicked off teams. Yet, his behavior was condoned by his being named to the leadership council and was enabled by his position coach who participated in the taunting of at least one player.

I too read the report which really was not as long as the 144 pages may indicate. I read it in a few hours. There are many people to blame but offensive line coach Jim Turner is most to blame, IMO. He lied to investigators about his involvement and he sent many text messages to Martin imploring him to exonerate Incognito. In one message, he appeals to his character ["you are a man of character", "do the right thing" (in caps)]. Turner did not comport himself as the leader that he should have been and should be fired. Pouncey and Jerry should be suspended a few games just as Incognito was. I hope Martin is given another chance to play with a good, stable team like the Colts, Ravens, Giants, Seahawks, or maybe even the Steelers (maybe not because Pouncey's brother plays on the Steelers). Incognito should not play another down in the NFL. He would be better off playing for the now defunct XFL.
