Another Luck/griffin Review...

Recommended Posts

Ready now. Yes. Projected to be better? Not sure about that. Before you say "analysts" say he is, you might want to research that first. Several including those with former ties to the Colts disagree.

I say it is 60/40 pro Luck at this point.

From my survey of analysts, those not affiliated with any team, I find that they favor Luck as the better long term prospect 90/10.

I have heard some analysts who claim that RG3 has a higher ceiling, but I think they forgot that he looks that way because RG3 starts with a lower floor.

I have also heard some analysts who claim that RG3 will have a limited, or curtailed NFL career, with a lot of doubt centering on his ability to stay healthy with his style of play.

That is pretty poor research. It was 90/10 until people really started reviewing the tape and comparing these two side by side. Luck is clearly rated higher but RG3 closed the gap.

I have to disagree. My research is pretty current.

There is nothing on film that lessens my view that RG3 will be punished regularly and painfully if he maintains the style of play to which he has now been accustomed.

Cam and Luck are the future of the league. They are the hybrid QBs, big, smart, strong, fast......while RG3 has some of that but he's just too small to absorb the hits.

HA! So was Vince Young. He was going to "revolutionize" the QB position. Tim Tebow? Michael Vick? Donavan McNabb? Randell Cunningham? These running guys are not the future of the QB position. They are going to get hurt because defenses are built like tanks now. RG3 will especially get hurt, he has a small frame and watching some of his running highlights from last year, he like to jump over defenders, he is going to get soooo crushed doing those moves. Another thing, before you go and say RG3 is not a run-first QB, he will be because he hasn't run a pro-style offense, and will look to run first because he's going to struggle to adapt. If RG3 doesn't end up as a bust from the draft, I think he is going to literally bust unless he bulks up.

Such a misinformed post. First off RG3 is not a one year wonder. He was a freshman all american for the big 12. Tore his ACL the following year. Rehabbed that while learning to play traditional QB. Came back had an excellent year at QB just one year removed from the ACL tear. Then came back this year and won the heisman. Also i have seen him go through progressions, not to the extent that Luck has but RG3 is not like a VY. Plus what are coaches for? RG3 is the hardest worker in the draft and there is no reason to believe that he will struggle with adapting to a pro style offense.Sure he runs when he can, but when you run a 4.4 and have guys running 5.0, makes sense doesnt it? He is equally dangerous in the pass game as well as run, which for some reason is a bad thing? And finally how do we know whats ideal for the Colts? They dont have an identity anymore, this is not Mannings offense.

I like Luck and will cheer for him since he will be the Colts next QB. But all this doubting on RG3 will make a lot of people on this forum, as well as the media look like fools. RG3 is a absolute stud and will excel in this league. Sadly, perhaps more so then Luck.

Here are some additional concerns about him. Watching that game vs. Oklahoma, RG3 always seems to want to go for the long bomb, this is not going to happen in the nfl. RG3 put up fluke numbers this year as most college level defenses thought he was going to run-first, so of course his throws made it through easier, going to be much tougher in the nfl. When finally faced with 3rd down pressure, RG3's college stats are the worst.. he has a 15.1 QB Rating, While Luck's is 150. So while RG3 adjusts to the pro-style game, he is going to be under constant pressure EVERY DOWN. So, if he does try to run first he is going to get creamed. He has no bulk, is a small frame, so add on more injuries. I foresee a 3 year max nfl run unless he can bulk up and improve at the same time. Otherwise, count me in (betting the farm) that he is going to have a difficult time. And a difficult time living up to the monster trade the redskins gave up for him. Bust of the century with that loot.

Add on top of it, maturity questions.. It has to be a concern that he concentrates about wearing weird socks and loves the attention of it... this is a redflag for ego alone.

Could have listened to what you said until this. You dont know enough about RG3 to make an informed statement. Period.

You don't know enough about him to even say its justifiable to take him over Luck. Btw, my facts are things I've read about RG3 over the weeks and it seems I'm the only one paying attention to what a monumental bust RG3 is going to be.

ANd yes, RG3's weird sock fetish is definitely a Red Flag.

Im not making a case to take RG3 over Luck. Just because I support RG3 does not mean I dislike Luck in any way... Where have you read those things? Weren't from coaches or GMs cause they only had great things to say after his interview. Wasnt from team mates or coaches because they as well only had praise as well. Class act all the way through and a leader on and off the field. Peyton Manning can do commercials and SNL is that a red flag as well? Please its called a sense of humor. Your looking way into his socks, to much so. Its a little creepy that you care so much about what color his socks are actually. Maybe he isnt the only one with a sock fetish?

Oh BTW. Superman wears RG3 socks.
