They both had ties to him. Caldwell @ Penn State. Polian @ Carolina, so they both had a history. I feel that he would have started to progress with more time in the system.

Well, we will never know. He is once again retired, and I don't think the Colts (or any other team) will have him back this upcoming season.

I will just add him back to the list of QBs who retired or should have retired at the age of 38.

I belive the OP is correct as PM being injured wasn't the only reason this team went 2-14. The lack of an adequate back up QB, an O'Line that has been patchwork for a few years, a pathetic showing at CB(with emphasis on the syle the CB's played being just as much to blame as their individual play), with lastly sub standard coaching caused this.
