Warhorse
Times, they are a changing. For those of us who have witnessed the NFL for 2, 3 or even 4 decades or more, this is just a continuation of what happens in this great league, every once in a while the great are able to sustain for a time. But eventually, time makes its call and the top falter............the fallen rise. This season we have seen the Lions get to and win a playoff game. They are no longer a pushover. In fact, Johnson is a man child and is always open...four feet above everyone else. Stafford isn't too shabby either. The middle of that defensive line is a load. The 49er's, thanks to our beloved Jimmy, have returned to being a top flight team. They have left the Chargers in the dust and are not looking back. How nice would it be to have Willis as a part of our front seven on D?Speaking of the Chargers, what happened to that feared QB to TE hook up? Their secondary? That pass rush? That running game? The Steelers are faltering. Their once dominant D, is getting older. Roth^%$^$%*&^ better take some time to heal that ankle, or he is going to see an early retirement. They are soon to enter the phase we are now fully committed to.The Vikings, just recently were a justly feared team, especially running the ball with Hutchinson and Peterson. Not any more. In just a season, their fortunes have changed significantly. The Bucs were tearing it up in the second half of last year. Now they just look tore up. The coach is gone. The glitter is off the smile. The Texans have finally made it to....and have won their first playoff game. Congrats to them. Can you imagine what joy they are having after being the second team in Texas and having to live with Peytons ability since they came into the league? The Packers are back on top...and look like they own the league, the Raiders lost their owner, and the Saints once lowly offense looks near unstoppable now.My point? It is easy to point fingers at the fired GM....or the strength coaches, or the coaching, or the owner, or what the heck ever. Reality is, our time to take a step back has come. My hope is that it wont be a huge step....and it wont be for very long....but after 4 decades, I am braced for what will come. Without blame, or finger pointing, or anger. As always.....Go Colts!(just for fun, here are the lyrics of a Steely Dan tune)If you listen you can hear itIt's the laughter in the streetIt's the motion in the musicAnd the fire beneath your feetAll the signs are right this timeYou don't have to try so very hardIf you live in this worldYou're feelin' the change of the guard
