  1. Their base D package is great against a QB that can't take deep shots. They can just play the short pass game which is where Minshew excels at and the run game. Essentially what every D did against the Colts in 2022. AR being back there as a deep pass threat and a rushing threat changes how the D plays and opens up the run game considerably.
  2. I'm not sure why people are asking for Minshew to be benched. It's not like Sam will be much better.
  3. The Jags are stacking the box. They are begging the Colts to pass it long. Minshew can't do it. Aka the 2022 Colts offense.
  4. At the very least, we won't hear from the dummies who want Minshew to start over AR for a while.
  5. Minshew doesn't have the arm to stretch the field. They can essentially discard that option from the Colts.
  6. I'm pretty apathetic while AR is out tbh. Still want the Colts to win, but I didn't delude myself into believing Minshew can carry a team. He can win if everyone else around him is dominating. But a QB is asked to carry in the NFL and he simply doesn't have the arm or the pocket mobility/awareness
  7. We don't know for sure if he's out for the season. I personally would hate it if he's out, and it kind of contradicts reports we've heard earlier this week about no torn ligaments. I guess we'll see.
  8. AR just needs to slide more often imho. Play like a QB that can run, and only take a hit when necessary in order to lower the chances of injury. His injury was on a 1st and 10 play somewhere around the Colts 30 yd line. He could of slid and gotten 1-2 yd gain instead of the hit he took in an attempt to gain two more yards. He definitely should continue running no matter what though. AR has the arm and pocket mobility to be a great pocket passer eventually, but he is already an elite talent running the ball. If it turns out he just can't take hits at the rate of his first 5 games, then we will have to see where a less mobile pocket AR can do. But for now, you gotta use the legs and hope he learns how to take less hits when it's unnecessary.
  9. That's true but AR deserves more than 5 games into his career to prove he won't be available more often. When he's played, he's been very good and ahead of schedule to what most people expected him to be at.
  10. Lol no. We won that game due to Zack Moss and the OL. Minshew didn't # up and helped extend drives when needed. Minshew is like Ryan Tannehill lite. Let's not settle for that like the Titans have. You win SB in this league with special QBs and a great D.
  11. - This is going to be an insane running committee, especially once Taylor gets back into form. - AR needs to learn how to slide and how to not fall so awkwardly. Those weren't huge hits he took to get injured. And they were all avoidable. I really hope he can figure out how to protect himself more. - Minshew is a great game manager and he doesn't turn the ball over. We can string a few victories with him if the run game is going to be that dominate. - The OL played spectacularly. Freeland looked good out there, which is great to see from your backup swing tackle. - The D played decently. The only bad pattern I've noticed is that the LBs and secondary is exploitable if the DL isn't getting a consistent pass rush at all times.
  12. Let's * go! They must of liked what they saw in practice lmao. Hope some of the armchair GMs on here don't take this news too poorly
  13. As a weapon, easily. As a pure passer, no.
  14. Just a quick reminder that the best player currently on the Indianapolis Colts (if healthy) might actually play this weekend. Pretty exciting stuff!
  15. Unless AR gets hurt, you will never see Minshew lace up as the starter, even if the rookie has a few stinkers. Book it.
  16. I agree with a lot of sentiments shared in this thread. But one thing I haven't seen many people mention is that Freeland was debuting against perhaps the greatest DL player in NFL history. That was very apparent all game and was going to make this an uphill battle from the get go.
  17. Idk what happened, but not having Buckner and Stewart in there is what essentially lost the game in OT for us. If we don't get good pressure, our safeties and CBs are below average at best.
  18. Lol. Puka is good but he can't make people not cover him like the game winning play.
  19. He had a bad game for sure. He's got this year to prove that he isn't capped in regards to his recovery. If he is, then the Colts probably move on from him this off-season.
  20. Yes, but it still sucks to see. More than anything, Ballard essentially threw this year by starting UDFA 1 yr players, along with drafting rookies, to replace Gilmore and Rodgers. Maybe those rookies develop, but that's gonna take a minute.
