Jets' Ryan Says Schottenheimer's Offense Was "too Complex"

Uh, it's supposed to be more complex. It's the NFL...A professional football league

In other words, Sanchez is "purdy" enough to be a star in NY, but he isn't an NFL QB. This is not a revelation to anyone who lives in the area. But unlike when the Colts dumbed down their defense in 2002 to save money for the offense, Sanchez is still costing them a fortune. You have to think at some point that the more logical solution would be to replace him.

I read an article a long time ago (around the time when the Jets hired Moore) that said something to the effect of "Schotty has fallen under the spell that most young offensive coordinators fall under; he has made his offense too complex."

too complex for Sanchez is more like it.. Move on, the kid won't be a star..

I don't think he will be a star, but he can be an Alex Smith-like game manager. Put him in a west coast offense where he can make short, easy throws. He would have to be on a team where the passing game is there mainly to keep the defense honest. He won't be a franchise QB and he won't be able to carry a team on his shoulders for a whole season, but is he is in the right system, he won't need to.

Yeah an ego thing or the idea of a modern offense is necessary..which may well be.

NE gets away with it because, well they have Brady which helps, but the offense is hired in good part based on their intelligence to block/run/catch on these complicated designs.

good analogy.

seems they both can run and get a 1st dn when they have too without being a <quote> running QB.

Tebow otoh is asking for trouble. Well actually he already got some playing NE,lungs, chest, ribs. On just one play.
