  1. It’s also possible he’ll be signed by his own team. Just as Pittman is a FA and the Colts hope to re-sign or tag him. That could happen to Fant.
  2. Chris Jones may be listed as a DT but he plays everywhere. Literally everywhere, up and down the line on any given down. On the key 3rd down play late in the game for SF, Jones was at the LDE and got penetration which made Purdy rush his throw. Playing everywhere is one of Jones’s better qualities.
  3. It taught us absolutely nothing. Would the lesson have been any different had the 9ers kicker made the extra point and San Fran had won? Ballard has always said there are many different ways to win. Yet you keep insisting there is one way to do things. One size fits all. This has been false every time you’ve said it. How did Mahomes fall to 10th in the draft? Dumb luck. Andy Reid once had a reputation as the best coach to not win a big game. All of his best success has come since he turned 60. Shanahan has reached the Super Bowl with Jimmy G and Brock Purdy, neither are franchise QB’s, though Purdy might be someday. In short, Ballard’s point about there are many ways to win has been proved correct pretty much every single year.
  4. As you may know, I’m not on Twitter…. So I’m not following your argument. Shouldn’t Colts Twitter serve as an extension to Colts PR? Aren’t they doing exactly what they should be doing? Trolling other fan bases? Can you offer up an example? Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to understand your viewpoint….
  5. You don’t have to like the whole newspaper. We’re only talking about one story. One very good story!
  6. Read it again. There’s plenty new. Read more than the quotes.
  7. So Joel Erickson is out with a long thoughtful piece about the Colts off-season. And I believe the story is FREE to everyone, even if you don’t have a subscription to Indystar. It’s a view of what the Colts want to do going forward with the benefit of the 30,000 foot perspective. Big picture. I think everyone will be interested and maybe even excited. Honestly, I’d say read it twice, there’s lots of good information in there that clearly came from Steichen and Ballard. I think it’ll give fans good reason to be optimistic going forward. So go to Indystsr.com, go to the sports section and click on Erickson story. I think you’ll be glad you did! If someone wants to link it here, my thanks in advance!
  8. A small reminder on that 4.48 time at Georgia. That’s a hand time, a stop watch. At the combine they use the same computerized timing that’s done in the Olympics. So those two timing methods produce slightly different results at 40 yards. I suspect you know this, but wanted to remind others who might not.
  9. This is an interesting perspective. For me this falls under the heading that we all see the same thing differently. I thought SF had the much better roster. Not even close. To me the difference was that KC had the much better QB, especially down the stretch. And that’s not a knock on Purdy who was good, but not good enough. But if the 49ers kicker had made the extra point, this conversation would likely be different.
  10. The Niners didn’t lose to an inferior team. They lost to a team that has now played in the last four Super Bowls winning three of them. The Chiefs have the best QB in football who is halfway to a 1st ballot Hall of Fame career plus a future Hall of Fame head coach. I think fans and media are way, way too quick to assign blame. It was a good game. Sorry one had to lose. But if the 49ers kicker makes the extra point, we might be having a different conversation.
  11. Perhaps. That’s your perspective. But it’s certainly not mine. Im happy to blame Shanahan when he was the OC of Atlanta in the SB where they blew the lead against New England and lost in overtime. I think that’s entirely on him. The other two I’m much less critical of.
  12. Kyle Shanahan didn’t lose this game. Theres no shame losing to Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid.
  13. Technology did that. Websites like Twitter did that. It made putting out information almost instantaneous. But I’d guess that every journalist who has been around since before this new technology has at least a small degree of fear that what they put out quickly might come back to haunt them. But this is what the world we all living in has become. I said this a few weeks ago, but technology changed the world for better, AND for worse. Shefter did his job and he was right. That it sucked for Luck and Colts fans is a secondary concern at best.
  14. Andrew Luck USED to love football. It was easily the most important thing in his life, by far. But as he said at his retirement press conference, four straight years of injury and rehab and never ending pain sucked the love right out of him by the end. He also hated the person he had become, literally hated. He came close to losing his marriage and it was a huge wake up call that his priorities in life had gotten way out of balance. Im happy for him that he’s finally at peace with his life. But, as I’ve written many times before, for a very smart guy it’s astonishing how badly he handled the end of his career. His need for almost total privacy has left Colts fans in the dark with endless unanswered questions. It’s sad to me this is how his career ended. But fortunately, we now have Anthony Richardson to cheer for, and that’s what I plan to do.
  15. Why are you even asking me this? Have you not read the thread? Have you not read Superman’s comment? Have you not read my second response to your post? I thought my first post to you was too short. So I wrote you a second post which addressed all your issues. Read all that, and that should answer all your questions.
  16. I take a back seat to no one in their love for Andrew Luck. I’ve followed him since his senior year in HS. Bu he belongs in the Hall of What Might Have Been. It’s not his fault, but his career wasn’t long enough or successful enough. Wish it wasn’t so, but he belongs in the Colts Ring of Honor. He’ll get there someday, probably as soon as @csmopar abandons his anti-Luck campaign. Someday….
  17. FWIW: If you want to blame ESPN, blame away. But for Shefter, he’s been on record since it happened, that he had no idea — none — that the Colts were even playing that day. He was just in a hurry to get the exclusive tip on the air first. And that’s his job, to be right and be first. And he was. Sucks for the Colts fans who found out the way they did. But that’s what the new world of journalism has come to.
  18. Wonderful news for Dwight! Richly deserved!
  19. I don’t pretend to know how the Colts community would react if Luck is picked for the ROH. I don’t know how much the community here on this website reflects the good people of the state of Indiana? But I’d share this…. There are some members here on Colts.com who would be happy to be at Lucas Oil Stadium the night of the ceremony just so they could boo him. Their dislike for Luck runs deep. So I don’t know what would happen? But it’s been 5 years. 2019-23. How many more years are needed? Three more? Five? I think it will happen someday, I just don’t know when?
  20. I’ll give a shout-out to @Superman for posting such a detailed response to your post. And I’ll apologize for being unable to post links, Superman did the heavy lifting, not at my request I might add, entirely on his own. But I’d like to follow up my own post, if I may. You noted Josh Allen publicly supporting his WR1. I’m not the least bit surprised. What was going on? Buffalo media was asking Allen during the season about Diggs, and Allen responded he had his back. I’d expect nothing less. Can you imagine what would have happened had Allen NOT supported Diggs? The Bills’ season would have blown up — imploded. Allen was keeping those issues behind closed doors where they belong. Props to him for not letting things get out of hand. And I love Allen for that reason and many more. It’s heart breaking the way things with Luck unfolded and the Colts did not draft Allen. I think Allen is Luck 2.0 and in some ways, perhaps even better. Win or lose, Allen leaves it all on the field every game. Can’t ask for more.
  21. Apparently you didn’t follow Diggs much in Buffalo. If you had, you wouldn’t have written what you did. But thanks anyway.
  22. No thank you! Super, super talented, but a HUGE drama queen. He’s the receiver who when the team WINS the big game, he will still complain he didn’t get enough targets and catches. Everything is all about him for Stephan Diggs. When NFL Execs say the WR position is DIVA position, Diggs is an obvious example. If Buffalo is looking to trade him, there’s good reason for that. No! Thank! YOU!!
  23. That may be the case. Over the years I hope he relaxes and opens up a bit. I my previous post, I closed by saying I hope I’m wrong but fear I’m right. I think I overstated that. Too melodramatic. So I’d like to modify my comment. I want Steichen to be himself, and not who we want him to be. But I’ve done thousands of interviews and I think I know when someone is being guarded. So I hope he gets more comfortable over time and stops fearing how every sentence he says can be used against him. The Indy media is NOT the Philly media and hopefully as he builds relationships with the media he can relax and trust and be more candid for everyone’s sake.
  24. Personally, I’m a bit surprised. But I hope that when Steichen does a press conference either before the combine or at the combine, someone will ask what will this new passing game coordinator be doing that SS and Jim Bob Cooter will no longer have to do? What will he take off their plate, so to speak?
