  1. Yes…. But your example was the Bears. Chicago will be drafting at or near the top of the first. You yourself said if you’re drafting that high, odds are you’re playing the pick. KC is an exception to the rule. They were a playoff caliber team and had Alex Smith to start, so they could afford to sit Mahomes. As for Minshew…. It’s hard to know. What will the Colts offer him? What are his priorities. Odds are any team that might want him to be their starting QB would only want him for one year. That said, do you really see a team wanting Gardner Minshew to be their starting quarterback? Can you sell that to the fan base? I like Minshew, always have dating back to his one year at Washington State. I hope we keep him. But I don’t see a team wanting to make him their starter, so I hope it’s a non-issue and he ends up staying.
  2. I would say the hopes the Colts have for AR is that he someday turns into Lamar Jackson. Primarily a passer, but his running ability can be devastating. Honestly, I believe that’s who AR compared to.
  3. How many teams draft their future franchise quarterback and then sit them? Typically, they play them, the way the Colts did with AR. The way Carolina did with Young, and Houston did with Stroud. Sure, you can point to Levis with Tenn, but when teams use a high pick to draft a quarterback they typically play them.
  4. The Belichick who has already done football for the NFL Network is nothing like the Belichick who does his weekly press conferences in his boating monotone. He can be charming when he wants to be.
  5. He’s already done it. He has worked on the NFL Network before. That’s where most think he’d go again. But ESPN is always possible.
  6. Ballard said at his year end news conference that AR is a much better passer than even he expected. That he’s ahead of schedule as a passer.
  7. Here’s the issue…. If the Colts were to draft Jaden Daniels, and he’s running Steichen’s offense as you want, how does Richardson improve? How does he show he’s getting better? There aren’t enough snaps in practice for two 1st round quarterbacks to improve. Do you see the conundrum your post creates? For better or worse, the Colts hitched our wagon to Antony Richardson. Odds are high it’ll stay that way for 2-3 more years. And if it doesn’t work out, Ballard will get fired and the Colts will trade AR for whatever they can get. It’ll be a new low point for the franchise.
  8. Ohio….. You may have forgotten. The reason Hines wasn’t used in those rolls this year is because he suffered a bad off-season knee injury while jet skiing and didn’t play all season.
  9. Interesting. You say it’s slang and often used in the 21st century. Yet you also made it a point to say this…. You. Don't. Do. It. Why is that? Don’t you live in the 21st century? Do you disapprove of it?
  10. “Keep receipts like you….” An interesting way to characterize the fact that I remember unique comments.
  11. The Steelers are one of the best run franchises in all of football. I’ve read nothing saying they’re ready to give up on Pickett after two seasons.
  12. I believe I said no way back when, and my answer is still no. And I happen to like Fields and think with the right coaching he still has promise.
  13. And it’s also not looking promising for Mike Vrabel. So far, he’s not linked yet with Seattle or Washington either.
  14. Only two openings left, Washington and Seattle, and Belichick has reportedly not interviewed with either. Stories I’m reading say Belichick could join media and try again a year from now. The prediction is NFL Network.
  15. I don’t think the Colts will let Jim Bob go either. But if he does leave, it wouldn’t be the same position. In title, sure, but he’d be going so he could be the play caller which he doesn’t do now. Being a play caller is much more attractive on a resume. It would help his future. Again, I think Jim Bob stays. Ballard is a fan, he was raving about Jim Bob early in the season.
  16. For what it’s worth… But in recent days, Jason has said “not so fast” to the idea of definitely retiring. Sounds like he may be having second thoughts on ending his career.
  17. Does Ballard have any history of signing guys to contracts that you want? Not that I’m aware of. The largest I can remember is Justin Houston 2/24. Ebukam was 3/24. I just dont see the Colts spending $15-22 mill on anyone.
  18. Technology changed the world, for better and worse.
  19. Good analysis. This was exactly what I was looking for from you. It’s why I asked. Thanks for the very good 411.
  20. Dayo plays a fair amount of RDE, but it’s mostly split with Ebukam. I double checked and Ebukam has only 80 more snaps. Over season, that’s 4-5 more snaps per game. As for Dayo, who I’m a big fan of, speed is not part of his game. He’s 6’6” and 286, he’s almost as big as Buckner. But Dayo’s asset is his power. Remember, he also plays DT at the 3-tech. Dayo plays RDE not because it’s his best position, but because with Kwity at LDE and Buckner at 3T, Dayo plays it out of necessity with Ebukam. We want him in the field. But his pass rush game is built around power, not speed.
  21. Fields had elite accuracy. So did Haskins before him. It’s easier when you’re only reading half the field which is what Ohio State QBs are trained to do.
  22. If you can’t see the connection to your long post, I don’t know what to tell you.
  23. Who do you think assigned Brown to scout AR on a weekly basis? Who do you think assigned Dodds to scout Stroud on a regular basis? It’s the same guy.
