  1. Only two openings left, Washington and Seattle, and Belichick has reportedly not interviewed with either. Stories I’m reading say Belichick could join media and try again a year from now. The prediction is NFL Network.
  2. I don’t think the Colts will let Jim Bob go either. But if he does leave, it wouldn’t be the same position. In title, sure, but he’d be going so he could be the play caller which he doesn’t do now. Being a play caller is much more attractive on a resume. It would help his future. Again, I think Jim Bob stays. Ballard is a fan, he was raving about Jim Bob early in the season.
  3. For what it’s worth… But in recent days, Jason has said “not so fast” to the idea of definitely retiring. Sounds like he may be having second thoughts on ending his career.
  4. Does Ballard have any history of signing guys to contracts that you want? Not that I’m aware of. The largest I can remember is Justin Houston 2/24. Ebukam was 3/24. I just dont see the Colts spending $15-22 mill on anyone.
  5. Technology changed the world, for better and worse.
  6. Good analysis. This was exactly what I was looking for from you. It’s why I asked. Thanks for the very good 411.
  7. Dayo plays a fair amount of RDE, but it’s mostly split with Ebukam. I double checked and Ebukam has only 80 more snaps. Over season, that’s 4-5 more snaps per game. As for Dayo, who I’m a big fan of, speed is not part of his game. He’s 6’6” and 286, he’s almost as big as Buckner. But Dayo’s asset is his power. Remember, he also plays DT at the 3-tech. Dayo plays RDE not because it’s his best position, but because with Kwity at LDE and Buckner at 3T, Dayo plays it out of necessity with Ebukam. We want him in the field. But his pass rush game is built around power, not speed.
  8. Fields had elite accuracy. So did Haskins before him. It’s easier when you’re only reading half the field which is what Ohio State QBs are trained to do.
  9. If you can’t see the connection to your long post, I don’t know what to tell you.
  10. Who do you think assigned Brown to scout AR on a weekly basis? Who do you think assigned Dodds to scout Stroud on a regular basis? It’s the same guy.
  11. You might be the biggest supporter of Stroud in our community. And, to your credit, you were on his bandwagon before the draft. So I have questions for you…. Why were you so high on Stroud when other Ohio State QBs struggled so much when they reached the NFL. Fields? Haskins? The view has always been that Ohio State only asks their QB to read half the field on each play, and when they get to the NFL they struggle badly to read the entire field. So you knew that yet it didn’t stop you from believing Stroud would be the exception. So I’m curious as to why and how you came to believe in Stroud more than anyone else? Thanks in advance.
  12. Im not trying to be argumentative, but the key sentence says Ed Dodds really likes him. But it does not say Ed Dodds PREFERS him. Not trying to be cute or clever. I’m happy to concede the point, that Ed Dodds likes him. I just stop short of stating that Dodds prefers Stroud. Words matter and I think some are reading too much into the comment.
  13. What does this alleged Dodds quote even mean? Is he referring to the number of games AR played in college? And when did he allegedly say this?
  14. Do you have a link to this rumor? I’d be a little shocked on that one.
  15. story says organizational decision. So Steichen and Ballard primarily. Hard to know how much Bradley had a say?
  16. Missed one. Rock Ya-Sin drafted at the top of the 2nd round. Pick 34. So he was drafted high as well.
  17. Well…. You’ve asked the question and @Superman did as well so it seems appropriate to respond. Id say this. I always read that Love looked terrible in practice and was unimpressive at best in the pre-season games where he did play. Now maybe Love showed enough improvement in his third year that the Packers felt confident in keeping him for his 4th year and giving him the keys to the car, so to speak. That seems a more reasonable evaluation than my original view of being a complete bust for three years. So let’s call it two years. So I think Love had some degree of control of his future. If he didn’t look good in practice or pre-season where football is much easier he had to have some level of responsibility for how his own career unfolded. By the way, and not for nothing, but if I remember correctly, Rodgers didn’t help much by saying it wasn’t his job to baby sit Love and show him the ropes. I think Rodgers caught some heat for that and IMO deservedly so. This would be my updated view.
  18. What are the Colts doing wrong that you view it as doing everything the hard way? The Colts didn’t hurt AR. If Richardson had remained healthy we’d all have a much better understanding of how good AR might be someday. But with his injury, AR is a year behind schedule. Again, not the Colts fault, sometimes stuff happens. Im curious to hear more about your viewpoint…
  19. I think he’s was trying to imply the talent underperformed due to the recently fired head coach. Thats my hunch….
  20. Since you follow this so closely…. Why would Dodds go with Harbaugh? What's the connection? Has Dodd’s interviewed with the Chargers twice? Thanks in advance.
  21. Yup…. Even this year I don’t think most were looking down on the AFC South. Right now, I think the NFC South is viewed as the weakest division. Atlanta, New Orleans, Charlotte, and Tampa. Not a good team in the bunch. They’re now the red headed step child.
  22. I pretty much disagreed with most everything you wrote. I think I agree that it’s unlikely to happen for a variety of reasons. But I think your view of the two franchises is over stated on both sides. Sorry.
  23. Have there been upsets? Sure. But the final is Baltimore the top seed and KC who I think is the 3 seed. What's the problem here?
