Tough situation The 2nd contract for RBs isnt really working in most cases these days....... The teams that pay the big money for RBs....... typically ARENT winning SBs There IS a lesson here Would love to keep him, but we MAY be priced out of the market. It seems the best strategy is to get the rookie contract out of the way and then do the one year deals, until you draft another RB High paid, Star running backs and SB teams dont seem to line up any more

If Marvin Harrison is on the table...... you draft him..... But...... Unless our two youngens step it up...... DE is the biggest hole IMHO CBs can be had later that fir this defense

I think you have to set a very low bar for Richardson, year 1 If you expect him to be the savior, year 1. you will probably be very disappointed. Expectations for year 1, should be growth. However...... If Richardson shows NO growth, and cant seem to grasp the concepts, OR if there are character flaws that arise, you would have to be open to doing what's best for your team. Personally, I think he will grow this year, and maybe take us to the playoffs in 2024 He seems like a humble kid that is ready to put the work in (Do you remember the arrogance of Ryan Leaf and Johnny Manzell? ) Humility is always the first step to growth (A great biblical principle)

I agree with this comment My hope is our young guys step up I think we can find a tier 2 RG and CB....... relatively cheap BUT...... The DE position isnt cheaply addressed, not if you want a player that draws double teams and can add consistent pressure. If we have great DE play, it takes so much pressure of the young CBs

The OP has a good point. I hope they add to the team, but Ballards M.O. is not to add a high profile player in FA He has upgraded the middle to bottom of the roster many times. I would expect more of that. There should be FAs available after cuts as well as lower impact trades We arent done yet, I bet Added thought..... This team will probably have a challenging year (based on history of rookie QBs getting a start during year 1) The time to add that missing FA is when we are truly one player away from contending Or...... if you get an amazing, cant pass deal opportunity for a young star that can be here 5 years from now (Maybe Chase Young?......... I LOVE the optimism..... But Peyton Mannng's year 1 was 3-13 AR5 is WAY behing Peyton (4 year starter in College) AR5 had really one season I think 3-13(14) is VERY realistic

We will only see another 50 posts like this with a fill in the blank player to trade for He wasnt offered the 5th year option and its believed that he is available for a trade He was defensive rookie of the year then has been nicked since He also had 16 1/2 sacks at Ohio State his last year I can see the pros and cons, but our pass rush is very putrid...... AND....... it appears we will be starting 1 or 2 rookie CBs (A good pass rush helps new CBs greatly) If this is legit...... A risky move but a 2nd would be worth a pick What say you?
