This came up from some really brilliant poster on another thread If (When) the Colts cut Shaq in the offseason, what is his cap hit in 2024?

Way Too Early Mock Draft
MikeCurtis replied to Mr. Too Proud's topic in NFL Draft, Scouting, and Free Agent Talk
Respectfully, I think the secret is out to the league on Shaq, I personally dont see anyone giving up anything for a guy who has lost a step, and is clearly a shell of the old self. His Salary is prohibitive to anyone looking for someone that appears to be washed up. (IMHO) I think Shaq will be long gone in the offseason. As a cut. I TRULY hope that I am wrong........... -
Always play to win, if this team was playing to lose, I think I would be done with being a fan of this regime

Way Too Early Mock Draft
MikeCurtis replied to Mr. Too Proud's topic in NFL Draft, Scouting, and Free Agent Talk
Thanks for the reply A WR1 can be shorter and still be an alpha WR (Like the Eagles and Dolphins) someone that the DC has to account for .....We need that, especially when AR5 comes back and can throw deep. Olave is like this..... Garret Wilson is like this....... The top offenses seem to be consistent in having at least 1 alpha WR, some have 2. Great picks CAN come from round 2, but the more a player is "blue chip" the higher they get drafted. We do need to keep adding to our DL and OL, but a playmaker seem like JUST what the doctor ordered -

Way Too Early Mock Draft

I am keeping my fingers crossed on Leonard, that he can pick it up..... but if he stays the same even with slight improvement, he is J.A.G. (Just another guy) absolutely NOT worth his contract Also agree on FS............Somehow we need a playmaking FS...... This is an area that you can trade for, and not be too expensive We MAY also need another DE The "word" is that you need to draft early a LT, DE, and QB, until you get them We have 2 of 3, and I dont see a stud DE that will fall to us in the draft..... I may catch flack, but I would be in the running to give up a 3rd or 2 thirds to get Chase Young or Sweat Both are getting great pressure levels this year. -
Way Too Early Mock Draft

Thanks for the early effort. I REALLY think we are going to be at or around .500, not 20s(I hope you are right) I REALLY think we need an alpha WR in round 1 Someone that demands a double team, every play That double team opens up Pitt and Josh downs to not get double coverage It MIGHT cause the defense to run nickle on most downs...... Can you imagine how many MORE yards our two RBs would get without the dreaded "box" One player, and health, and THIS team could be top 5 offense If your mock draft lays out like this 17. New York Jets- Malik Nabers WR 18. Cincinnati Bengals- Keon Coleman WR 19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Rome Odunze WR The Colts who will be drafting 15-17 (My guess) will get a shot at one of theses 3 Alpha WR types Keon Coleman and Rome Odunze are having awesome seasons, and should (Maybe) be a good pro I also think we should be adding at least 1 CB early as well as a LB Thanks again -
Mock 2024 offseason after Week 5 2023

I REALLY want the Colts to use a round 1 pick on the best WR that they can get there hands on This offense with a true WR1, would be scary....... We could be much more balanced ........ -
Sources Colts have called about Jerry Jeudy
MikeCurtis replied to Restinpeacesweetchloe's topic in Colts Football
There are some decent WRs that could be had in mid 1 and mid 2 and…. You REALLY can’t have two full cost WRs (Juedy) unless you are making a run this year (We aren’t) Pittman will get 15-16m. Juedy would need a bit more… Pittman is. Very good WR2….. He isn’t a game changer needed by the Colts, but he DOES have value We aren’t making a run this year At this point….. unless someone is near free….. just play it out -
great question At this stage, my gut says that we don't trade any of the starters If we would have gone 4-2, my belief is that we MIGHT have added a vet. I think we will be picking middle of the pack There are some decent WRs, CBs, DEs, that SHOULD be there in middle of round 1

The question is really, does this defense revolve around top man cover CBs? I know its not a traditional cover two, and we have been running Brents sometimes in man coverage, while we run an umbrellla zone with the other players. In the past we havent spent the big money on CBs...... maybe we splurge I was always nervous about giving away our number 1 pick, but I think we can all say that we have our QB and even our LT of the future already on the team. I see Juedy as a guy that can stretch the field...... MUCH better that our two outside WRs ....... THIS should open our offense, and make people pay when they load the box to stop our RBs Ok....... you talked me into it I will take both please (Prolly not going to happen) but I could see the long term value AND, we get 4 more years of our QB on a rookie deal. -

Me too. But….. I don’t see Patrick S going for less than a 1 and probably more Juedy may cost less -

What. ? ogletree inactivate? He is our best TE -
He is getting in a groove and is a perfect move the chains guy An accurate quick release guy can be deadly with a slot guy like this Lastly…… I am stoked with what I see from Ogletree …… He is also a move the chains guy with an enormous wing span He also is blocking very well

I think it’s part of a learning process AR needs to slide ……. Even if he doesn’t get the first down i noticed when we played the Eagles last year that Hurts ran near the end of the game ….. to get the win IMHO ….. we should call the QB run sparingly while he builds on his accuracy and he learns how to slide

100% 4-2 would be sweet

Mock 2024 offseason after Week 5 2023
MikeCurtis replied to Archer's topic in NFL Draft, Scouting, and Free Agent Talk
I like it, Nabers would be a fantastic pickup but we need to add a CB very badly (round 3?) -
Did you notice that one of our cheerleaders was out of step????? I just dont think I can follow this team! Some of our fans would complain if they were handed a $100 bill and it had a crease in it.....
-
We arent at that level.... thats a fact But...... Our DL is playing really well and our LBs not named Leonard, are having a career season We desperately need to get another CB (Maybe a trade from a team that is heading backwards) If our OL stays at the high level....... MUCH can be done with our RBs (Best tandem in league) Much can be done with an excellent TE room...... Much can be done with a middling QB that doesnt throw picks. Lastly Josh Downs has a decent chance to make the all rookie team, and is starting to become very hard to cover I am excited to be wrong....... this team IS MUCH better than last year, and better than I thought that they would be..... enough to stoke the "Fan Fires"
