  1. We dont need another zone corner who maybe be switched to safety.
  2. I would love Mitchell but i bet he would be gone. If he turned out, he could give the D a lot of flexibility in being able to be more diverse.
  3. It is also tough to grade these corners based on injuries and level of qbing they played last year. I am not at all comfortable going into next season with this corner talent. I am really leaning towards corner as our 1st pick as it will also hopefully expand what the D can do other than playing zone all the time
  4. I think the thing to watch is how teams draft between the LT's and WR's. There are two premiere LT's and two premiere WR's who would go in the top 4 if not for the value associated to qb position. I would say based purely on grades, Harrsion, Nabors, Alt and the guy from Penn State would grade out better than even Williams. He is going #1 because he is a qb. To me, I would draft a LT before I would draft at WR if i was in the top 5. It will be interesting to see how teams feel about the LT and WR position as it relates to value in the NFL. Thats what I will be watching. I think even Polian said it is Qb, LT and DE in that order in terms of importance to the team
  5. I think people may see him as a project because of the lack on reliance on his as a qb at Michigan. He is not raw, he was just not asked to do a lot but when he was, he excelled. That's kind of how Harbaugh builds his teams. Heavy on the run and strength on the lines. He likes to physically beat the opposing into submission.
  6. When Harbaugh has him as the best qb coming out of college, you better listen. Sure the stats are not there, but there is a lot to love. I don't think Harbaugh is the type of guy just to blow smoke because he coached him in college. We all know Harbaugh, and he is a different duck but very intense. If McCarty was trash and/or just average, I doubt Harbaugh would talk him up. By saying what he has said, Harbaugh is putting his reputation on the when it comes to evaluating qb talent if McCarthy busts out.
  7. If you are talking about Kincaid, he is know where near Bowers level when graded coming out of college. Kincaid was never seen as a top 15 pick.
  8. Giving your safety a one year deal is not a glowing endorsement. To me, they really dont have good starting safeties at either position. I expect this to a be heavy D draft.
  9. Paye is a LDE and has failed as a RDE pass rusher. You dont get rid of top 4 pass rushers. It just doesn't happen. They are just as hard to get as a franchise qb. You get them and you keep them.
  10. They way to kind of predict how they will pick is what and who they added in free agency. Not a ton of free agent moves but what is interesting is who they were apparently were interested in during free agency. They apparently offered Hunter (DE) more money then Houston and if we can believe rumors, they were interested in Sneed. They got neither, so that tells me that are targeting those 2 positions as a true need. Buckner is getting older and I believe he is going to want to cash out as he turned 30 years of age and we have not heard much about an extension. Ballard loves him but are the Colts going to want to throw money at him next year as he will be 31? He is still playing some elite football, but I think wall for a DT is very much like a rb. It comes hard and fast once they get into their 30's. DT could be surprise, as Ballard loves the 3 tech and it is probably the most valuable position for this style of D. I am no sold on picking a wr high in this draft. I think the coachers and front office want to see it all play out and see what they have at the end of next year.
  11. i dont see it happening. You dont trade away elite pass rushers
  12. Agreed. When is the last time the top graded tight end has made it as far as number 15? I am not just talking the top te, but some see him as difference maker. If Nabers and Harrison go high, I would expect Bowers to be the next pass catcher to be taken. I know people just love Harrison and Nabers, but some offences may value Bowers over them 2 in their offense. Look at Kelce and how much of mismatch he is. The Chiefs traded away Hill and kept Kelce. Yes, their was money involved but I do believe the Chiefs felt Kelce would get more bang for your buck
  13. I i was Minni, I would trade Jefferson to Arizona. I would then draft my franchise qb and then with my 2nd pick draft a receiver.
  14. Nope as i think he is better than Harrison. LSU has quite a reputation of developing great NFL recievers
  15. This could take their need to draft a TE off the board, as I think they were pretty high on him.
  16. i have predicted this that i think Nabors goes before Harrison and neither make it out of the top 10. Like i said. I would never move up for either. To many holes on this team to waste pics on the wr position. People are obsessed with moving up for a wr but the team actually looked good with Richardson and with Taylor playing, it could reset the offense and open up everything for the wrs and tes. This defense is crap and it needs elite play makers at DE, S and Corner. Stop trying to add players makers to the offense. I would say that Richardson (short resume), Taylor, Pittman and Downs look like keepers. A sight a glimmer of hope in a couple of the tes. The Oline appears to be coming around. Can we say that for the defense? Buckner is getting old, Paye is not that guy, Moore is a nickel corner, the other corners cannot stay healthy and/or cannot cover one on one and we dont have a cover FS. It is really is absent of any true playmakers I would move up for a DE and/or one of the elite corners. I am not sure you have to move up for a DE as I don't think it is a great draft for that position. I don't believe there is an elite cover corner as the top 2 could slide out of the top 10. Just my thoughts. Everyone likes to draft offensive talent because it is the sexy pick but this team needs defensive talent. We played crap qbs last year, and they did not fair well. How do you think they will do against this year's schedule if they do not improve?
  17. Why would he restructure? He just signed a contract and he Colts have a rookie qb under contract
  18. Elite pass rushers do not move. It is very rare as they are probably 2nd behind a qb in terms of their importance to a team
  19. Even though I think Pierce has a 4.4, I am not sure he is that purely explosive wr that they are looking for. There was a rumor that they wanted to trade Taylor for Waddle when Taylor was wanting a new contract. Was that because they were dissatisfied with Pierce or was it that Waddle is just so explosive and would have complimented Pierce. This years draft is really going to tell us what the Colts think of Pierce. We have heard that he was open a lot but Minshew just wouldn't throw him the ball. The 22 tells the Colts everything and you cannot hide as a player. They draft a burner in the top 3 rounds and that tells me they are putting Pierce on notice and/or ready to move on.
  20. I agree with you and have said it in other posts that this is a year where they are going to go against the norm and move up. Maybe that is why they didn't want to use capital in trading for Sneed? They could be targeting a player if he is sitting there that slides. Do i think they would have an interest if Bowers slid out of the top ten? Sure i do but so would about 20 other teams. What I don't bye is leaks coming out of the Colts front office saying they are eyeing a trade for Bowers. Twitter people just see it as a need and therefore are tying the Colts to Bower. You maybe right about the TE group in that they really haven't done much, so you can chalk it up as another need for this team.
  21. When has this stuff materialized to become true ?There are probably 4 people in that building who know what they are doing with their picks. Steichen, Ballard, Irsay and Brown. I don't believe a word of it. Plus, if they were to trade up, that is a pretty damning assessment of Ballard's drafting at the tight end position as it would say they have already given up on the young guys as they drafted TE's in the 2 previous drafts. Do i think they could trade up? Sure but no one knows but those four guys. Remember this is a team who traded for Buckner and not a work of it leaked out. Once again twitter throwing stuff at a wall hoping it sticks.
  22. look at free agency and what did the Colts try and do? They tried to sign a DE and were sniffing around a corner. That tells me that they see those as the primary need on this team. Ballard basically said he didn't give Gus the weapons. To me this draft needs to be defensive heavy in the 1st two rounds. I am scared of this team with regards to hitting on defensive line talent. After 8 years Ballard was only able to acquire one premier player on D and that was through a trade. He has really missed on most of his picks on the defensive line. I cannot really think of one player, maybe except Stewart, who has played up to and/or surpassed where they were drafted. There is a long list of meh D line players that this team has drafted. Iwouldnt even rule out DT as Buckner is coming up for a new contract. Team needs defensive talent big time
  23. Sure you can get that guy to take the top off but I would argue that we have no one on defense that can stop the opposing wr's rom taking the top off. u dont have to be a top 15 pick to take the top off. You can find a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd round who is fast, runs a limited route tree, but his job is to scare the defense. We have Pittman and Downs who have certain skill set. We are hoping that Pierce can develop. This defense is really void of any talent as we speak. It continually rates near the bottom but our offense showed signs of improving with Richardson in their. To me it is the D that needs playmakers and it is so glaring.
  24. I think the top teams in the playoff proved one thing. Franchise qb and solid lines sprinkled in with good wr play but not elite. Plus, I think you have to give Richardson a year with these guys to find out if it was qb play why they were not hitting their potential or they suck lol. Do Pierce and the TE's break out with Richardson? One thing we do know is that the D lacks any playmakers except for an aging DT. I think the term WR1 is vastly overused. To be honest, there might be only a few true #1 wr's in the league who are worthy of that label. I am thinking Jefferson, Hill, Chase etc. I think there are a lot of teams who have a couple wr twos on their team and there is nothing wrong with that. Look at Houston. They had Collins and Dell to take the top off. No true number one but they each had their role. Collins works the inside and Dell takes the top off. Diggs is no longer a #1, so in reality, Houston will probably be show casing 3 number 2 receivers.
