  1. PFF grades are not absolute. Like I said, he looks like the guy. After his rookie season, a lot of people were still not sure
  2. He struggled mightily but played better at the end. However, he had a very average rookie year if that. Trust me, very few people walked away saying we have out franchise LT after his rookie year.
  3. How the Colts pick defensively will tell us a lot about how they are moving forward with regards to Gus and this scheme. If , for example, they draft a man corner, it would suggest a shift in philosophy. If they go with the norm and draft zone corners in the 2nd and 3rd round. Then I would expect nothing out of this defense and that is based on history.
  4. Thats the same philosophy that Ballard took with the D and O line not so long ago . He bet in the rookies to make a difference, and they didn't. Paye never developed and Raimann was not good his rookie year. The D line continues to underwhelm and Rainmann looks like a keeper. We cannot go into the year with the plan of they should get better. Brents was hurt a lot and it is a little concerning. The other corners are very late picks, so even if they showed glimpses, I would bank more on them playing like late round picks over a 17 game schedule.
  5. Diggs is a number 2 this time in his career. My point rookie or not, this cream cannot head into next year without a playmaker in the secondary.
  6. Texans added Diggs. They have Tell and Collins. That last game of the season highlighted thr need for a pass rush and corner play. Now more so with Diggs. Jags also have also added Ridley. If the Colts go into the season with this secondary, they will get what they deserve.
  7. Arnold ran a 4.51. 40 times are overrated to an extent,, however one thing is consistent when it comes to corner play. If u r to be a successful man corner, you'd better run in the 4.4 to 4.3's. I can't think of a corner who played man and had a 4.5. U just don't see.
  8. I have been al over Mitchell but it will take a trade up to him.
  9. So Chicago is going to draft Wlliams and then give up a chance to draft Nabors so the Colts can?
  10. Turners is about potential. He is light and I am not sure about him holding up in the NFL. Latu is starting to intugue me. He seems game ready.
  11. They r never trading up for Nabers or any receiver.
  12. Being big does not make you a good blocker. They were liabilities in the run game and it limited our play calling with those guys in the game. It basically telegraphed to the defense what we could and couldn't do. I am not sure Mo makes the team this year and he is very limited in what he can do in the pass game.
  13. Turner is good but he is a little light. He is explosive but raw. Latu is just a really good football player with good measurables. I think it is time for Ballard to pick the best football player available and not the one with the highest RAS. I am warming to Latu as he could be there at 15 . The other guys will costs us to move up most likely. I just want the Colts to come out of this draft getting the guy they wanted and that takes a trade then so be it.
  14. I dont like Arnold's top end and i think he is just another zone corner who we can get in the 2nd. However, I could be wrong. Getting a guy like Mitchell would signal a change in philosophy. To the the Colts need to take the best D player at 15 and not worry about scheme fit so much as they could be doing a whole sale change if they fire Bradley. They take a guy like Mitchell and need to tell Bradley that they use his skill set.
  15. Because all of our TE's are built the same. They are pass catchers and very limited run and pass blocking skills. Having all pass catchers at that position would limit what this team could do schematically
  16. I do think that there is pressure on Ballard to add a play maker on defense. He really needs to get that guy on defense. Do i see him giving up a 1st rounder? I probably think that is really rich for and it would take a lot to move up into the top 8. I do see a trade to move up a couple of spots if that guy is sliding. I think Mitchell and Latu intrigue me the most should they slide. I think Mitchell may go top 10 and if not shortly after. He is probably the only true man corner at the top of the draft and Latu could slide because of medical.
  17. I think of pursuit of Hunter in the off season told us all we need to know about the RDE position and Paye. The starting RDE is not on this team and that is a big hole to fill. Qb, LT and RDE are probably the hardest and most important positions to fill on the team. U appear to have your qb, LT and now you need the next piece.
  18. You know how ridiculously expensive that would be to say move to #4 for a wr? You would be looking at this years #15 and next years 1st rounder and we still are not done and all for a wr. MHJ coming to this teams is not going to happen.
  19. Latu at 15 would be interesting if they decided to stand and not trade up. He looks awesome on tape and his medical could cause him to slide and you could be getting the best pass rusher at #15 but assume some risk. Would it be better to say move up and get a pass rush and give up picks or stay at #15 and get a guy like Latu, if he falls that far, and assume some risk?
  20. if Bowers is there at #15 and he is by far the best player there, then you take him I don't a see corner of value at #15 if Mitchel is gone. If the Colts were to take a guy like Mitchell with their 1st pick whether it be bye trade up and/or at #15, it would suggest to me there is a shift in defensive philosophy as he is a man corner. That would be exciting for me. To me if the Colts are to go defense with their 1st pick, I really hope they are ready to get that guy if it means trading up. I would believe that the Colts may have one corner and maybe 3 DE's that are worthy of a top 15 pick. The rest of the corners are mostly zone corners and you can get those later in the draft. Turner, Verse and Latu. Latu is intriguing as he could slide because of medical but some say he is worthy of a top 6 pick. He reminds me of Sweat when the Colts bypassed him because of the medical and picked Sin in the 2nd.
  21. So you would take Bowers over the top corner and/or edge or do you mean if they were equal value? Bowers looks good on tape but his size scares me a little for a team that is intent on running the ball. I think we have a lot of flash TE's on this roster already that need some time to develop with Richardson. You look at the TE room and I do some talent there but need time. I look at the corner and edge room and I go meh!!
  22. Free agency tells you a lot where a team is going in the draft. They really see the need for a true rush end and even corner
  23. Turner will not fall to us. He will be gone early . Everyone is expecting these wrs to fly off the board. Harbaugh builds in the trenches. I wouldn't shocked if he went D line early. Look at San Fran and Michigan. Power football and build in the trenches. This is a wr stacked draft and DE's are a luxury in this draft. U better get one early. Would I trade up to get a guy like Turner and or insert name if I believed he could be our next Freeney? U bet I would. Ballard has used the approach of trading back and hoping that the DE he drafts will become that guy and it hasn't turned out well for the Colts. To me it is time to target and go after that guy and if it means giving up a #1 then so be it. IF you go after a guy like Turner and he becomes that guy, you will not miss next year's 1st pick. I do have a lot of faith in Richardson and I feel if he stays healthy, he will be a superstar. So if Richardson comes in and lights it up and you have Turner, you are probably picking in the early 20's next year. So would i give up our #15 and next years #20 for a guy like Turner? For sure. IF Richardson bombs out and we finish with a top 5 pick, so be it. Houston took a gamble going for Anderson at 3 and how does that look now? They gave up their 1st this year which is in the 20's. I will take that every day. I actually don't think our 15 and next years 1st rounder would be enough to move up to get a guy like Turner. I think a GM say in the top 8 would project next years pick to be in the 20's based on what they feel would transpire with Richardson as our guy. Just my thoughts
