  1. I agree with you and have said it in other posts that this is a year where they are going to go against the norm and move up. Maybe that is why they didn't want to use capital in trading for Sneed? They could be targeting a player if he is sitting there that slides. Do i think they would have an interest if Bowers slid out of the top ten? Sure i do but so would about 20 other teams. What I don't bye is leaks coming out of the Colts front office saying they are eyeing a trade for Bowers. Twitter people just see it as a need and therefore are tying the Colts to Bower. You maybe right about the TE group in that they really haven't done much, so you can chalk it up as another need for this team.
  2. When has this stuff materialized to become true ?There are probably 4 people in that building who know what they are doing with their picks. Steichen, Ballard, Irsay and Brown. I don't believe a word of it. Plus, if they were to trade up, that is a pretty damning assessment of Ballard's drafting at the tight end position as it would say they have already given up on the young guys as they drafted TE's in the 2 previous drafts. Do i think they could trade up? Sure but no one knows but those four guys. Remember this is a team who traded for Buckner and not a work of it leaked out. Once again twitter throwing stuff at a wall hoping it sticks.
  3. look at free agency and what did the Colts try and do? They tried to sign a DE and were sniffing around a corner. That tells me that they see those as the primary need on this team. Ballard basically said he didn't give Gus the weapons. To me this draft needs to be defensive heavy in the 1st two rounds. I am scared of this team with regards to hitting on defensive line talent. After 8 years Ballard was only able to acquire one premier player on D and that was through a trade. He has really missed on most of his picks on the defensive line. I cannot really think of one player, maybe except Stewart, who has played up to and/or surpassed where they were drafted. There is a long list of meh D line players that this team has drafted. Iwouldnt even rule out DT as Buckner is coming up for a new contract. Team needs defensive talent big time
  4. Sure you can get that guy to take the top off but I would argue that we have no one on defense that can stop the opposing wr's rom taking the top off. u dont have to be a top 15 pick to take the top off. You can find a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd round who is fast, runs a limited route tree, but his job is to scare the defense. We have Pittman and Downs who have certain skill set. We are hoping that Pierce can develop. This defense is really void of any talent as we speak. It continually rates near the bottom but our offense showed signs of improving with Richardson in their. To me it is the D that needs playmakers and it is so glaring.
  5. I think the top teams in the playoff proved one thing. Franchise qb and solid lines sprinkled in with good wr play but not elite. Plus, I think you have to give Richardson a year with these guys to find out if it was qb play why they were not hitting their potential or they suck lol. Do Pierce and the TE's break out with Richardson? One thing we do know is that the D lacks any playmakers except for an aging DT. I think the term WR1 is vastly overused. To be honest, there might be only a few true #1 wr's in the league who are worthy of that label. I am thinking Jefferson, Hill, Chase etc. I think there are a lot of teams who have a couple wr twos on their team and there is nothing wrong with that. Look at Houston. They had Collins and Dell to take the top off. No true number one but they each had their role. Collins works the inside and Dell takes the top off. Diggs is no longer a #1, so in reality, Houston will probably be show casing 3 number 2 receivers.
  6. This D has no playmakers except an aging DT. The offence has something the D does not. That being hopefully a franchise qb who will make everyone around him better. The D needs a DE, Corner and a FS badly. We can add another wr and hopefully he turns out because we will need to score 30 points a game to have a chance. We need build towards have a complete team not just one that is going to have to outscore everyone.
  7. We have to many holes to fill and wr is something you draft later when you have a complete team. If i remember correctly if you look at the top teams in the playoff, I would argue that they were not receiver driven. It is like all this talk about the wrs at the top of the draft. I am drafting that LT at 4 if I am Arizona, if they don't move down, instead of Harrison and/or Nabors. A dominant LT to me is more valuable than an elite wr who needs the ball to make plays. Thats just me. These receivers come to a 2nd contract and are now wanting 30 million. It is like Minny with Jefferson. I would dangle him to Arizona to trade for their number 4. They have Murray signed and need to justify that joke of a contract. Then Minny can grab their qb of the future. They still have another first round pick. I really dont get the love of signing these wrs to crzy money. They are the only position in football, I would argue, that is totally dependent on the qb
  8. The non hire of Bill in Atlanta would seem to suggest other wise and even Vrabel. A lot of people did not want him coming into the building as they knew he was going to clean house. They were whispering in the owners ear and they got their way. So, they don't hire Bill at say 15 million a year but go ahead and sign Cousins at over 40 mill a year who has really done nothing in the NFL but continue to set the bar for NFL qbs in terms of guaranteed money lol. I think the NFL is an old boys club and there are many dysfunctional NFL franchises. Look at Carolina who promote Morgan when he was part of the problem . You can probably count of 2 hands the number of teams who are really driven to win a championship. The rest are owned by a billionaire who really has little interest in the teams success on the field and more on the bottom line!!
  9. I dont like WIlliams at all. I think he is going to be a bust. Everything about him screams bust.
  10. I am surprised he is still out there as the big money is kind of gone in free agency. I think most people thought he would sign day one. Not sure what is the hold up. Colts need to make a splash and they have the cap space.
  11. I agree somewhat, but I think the Colts were a lot higher on Richardson than a lot of teams. I think the pick of Richardson was based on the fact that Steichen turned Hurts into a bona fide qb . The drafting of Richardson would have meant a complete over haul to how most teams run and build their offence. The Colts were starting over. They had a new coach and a guy who was going to build around Richardson's skills sets. Most NFL teams don't take this approach. You are probably right on Ballard, however I think there is a lot of pressure on him to get a play maker with his first pick. Richardson was a total gamble and over drafted at 4 based on what he did in college. A lot of GM's and coaches do not have that luxury and need immediate results. PS. I did love the pick and still do. I think the Colts were pretty confident based on what other teams do in the NFL and felt that Richardson was going to be there at 4. If they truly felt that Richardson was that high in demand and they didn't want to lose out on him, I truly think they would have traded for the number # 1 pick. They were in a better position to move up than Carolina. It is probably easier to sit for a guy like Richardson who you want because there maybe only one other team who covets him. Plus it is hard for a team to move up to #3 for a project and sell it to your owner. If you review the 2023 draft, I have a hard time identifying a team that would have made that move based on their draft position and need for a qb. There is always a lot of false information that gets thrown around before a draft. However, when you review the teams and how they drafted it all makes sense. If that corner, wr, DE or any other premium position/player falls out of the top ten, then that guy is probably in play for a lot of teams. Therefore the need to get a head of those teams and get that guy. I really believe we cannot trade out. We need to sit there and pick BPA.
  12. I'd be shocked if we trade down. There is pressure on Ballard to add some playmakers. I think this is the year where he could actually move up if a guy slips out of the top ten because of other teams needs and there appear to be a lot of blue chid players at the top of the draft and teams will always be qb needy at the top of draft
  13. I think we might be obsessed to much with a wr pick at 15. Ballard has shown us in 8 years how he values the position and I really don't think that will change. I think this draft is rich with receiver talent, so i dont see the need to grab one at 15. I think it is more important to target the top defensive players at 15 if they worthy of that high of a pick. We must also remember that Buckner's time with the Colts may be coming to an end soon. Brown got big money with Carolina and Buckner maybe eyeing a big contract, which most likely be his last. He is 30 years old and DT's usually hit a wall at this age. They could be targeting his replacement in the draft. When predicting what they will do in the draft, you kind of have to look at who they targeted in free agency. The whiffed on Hunter and Sneed, so they definitely see that as a top need. Could be DT, DE and Corner with their top pick. I also think the jury is still out on Pierce and this TE group. If Richardson plays up to the hype, I expect this group to hopefully flourish. I could see a take the top of the defense guy in the 3rd. This defense needs some young potential playmakers on D because I really don't think there is a young D player that wows me.
  14. I bet the Colts are looking at him. They need to make a move. Blackmon is a SS and has some injury history. I have littel faithe and Cross and neither does the coaching staff. Cant go into the season with both those guys starting back there.
  15. u trade up for a receiver when you are pretty healthy at your other roster spots. We have glaring holes at corner, DE, FS. We have to get the pass rush solved and do not be mislead by last year's sack totals. This pass rush is invisible in to many games. They were apparently going after Hunter in free agency pretty hard. That tells me that they are not happy with the pass rush. Expect them to put more resources into that area, plus they have to make a decision about Paye who does not deserve a 5th option. I would like a corner or DE at 15 and I want them to trade up to get that guy if they have to. They need a play maker
  16. I watched him in the national championship game. Yes, Michigan was a tough opponent but i thought he was actually pretty average. He missed a lot of throws and didn't appear that he played well when the pressure came. Just my take but I didn't like Stroud coming out lol.
  17. I think with all of these guys it really depends on where they end up. I think they all have different skill sets and very different in what they can do at the qb position. Harbaugh has come out and said McCarthy is the best qb in the draft. I dont think he is just blowing smoke.
  18. No qb. I was high on Levis and thought it may have been coaching in college as to why he never reached his potential. He has all the tools but he is a very frustrating player to watch nd probably coach. Gives you a lot of wow moments followed bye what the hell was that lol!!
  19. I did read that they went after Hunter hard but he signed with the Texans for a smaller contract but Texans offered more guaranteed money. I felt that they really needed that one to get a legit pass rusher. Sneed would have been a good one. Could you imagine with the additions of Hunter and Sneed to this D? Richardson is under a rookie contact, so yes I am not really impressed by their lack of moves. It may all fall apart for Houston, but at least they are aware of what needs to happen moving forward. Support Stroud and waste as much money as you have as he is under a rookie contract. . I believe that Irsay may not have wanted to give out that much guaranteed money in the Hunte and Sneed contracts. Much of the same old under Ballard and Irsay.
  20. Do i think they are top 5? No as it is to early, however one can look at their roster of young players and they appear to have some play makers moving forward. QB, DE, Safety, WR and I still think Stingley is going to be good if he can stay heathy. It could all fall apart as expectations will be high this year and they will not be taken lightly by the competition. Now when i look at the Colts roster, I see one young playmaker and that is our RB. After 8 years of drafting and heading into this season, we are banking on a young QB to lift the offense up and everyone will finally reach their potential. I am big Richardson fan but it is about 4 years now that we are banking on young players to improve. It was the Oline,, WR, TE Dline and last year we banked on the secondary taking some strides. Every year it has been the same and after every off season, Ballard comes out and says he got it wrong and should have supported the coaches more.
  21. Easy. Look at their wins and loss record over the last 8 yeas. Look at how many of their original picks have been signed to 2nd contracts. How many have become legit play maker ? Of course you can consider other factors, but based just on that factors, you are looking at an average scouting department. Take the drafting/scouting on the offensive side of the ball out of the equation because many people on this board attribute a offenses success on the qb. Now if you look just at the defense and how it has improved over 8 years. I am confident in saying that the scouting and/or drafting on that side of the ball is below average.
  22. If Richardson would have improved on his play, he would have been the number 1 pick. I think Williams has been hyped a lot before the beginning of the college season. I think the generational label has worn off as there are a lof of questions about him going forward.
  23. It is funny, but I was listening to Lombari's podcast which draws a lot of negative reviews on this board lol. He actually talked about how most of these top qbs were transfers. They transferred and then went on to have great years with their new teams. He said that he would dive into their careers before they transferred as all of these guys were very average when they played with their previous teams. It could be that they had horrible coaching but it is interesting to note. I am really not high on this group at all. I would go with Maye if I really had a high pick. I
