  1. Remember that when someone has an opposing view lol!
  2. The difference in this. Allen gets up after a football hit; Richardson has not on to many occasions in his rookie year.
  3. Ah... another defensive scheme like the Colts run, and they actually have a good front. This scheme is so archaic, and no one is getting far with it playing qbs. San Fran may have a chance but they are loaded and have a qb making like $800,000.00
  4. Apparently Martendale could be available. Make the call. I have a lot of faith in Steichen but his retention of Bradley is a real head scratcher for me unless there are things going on behind the scenes we don't know about. Does continuity refer to the scheme rather than keeping the coach? I don't know but heading into next season with the same old coach, talent and scheme on defense is just going to lead to the same results. 8 years watching this defence tells me it is broken from the coaching, talent, and scheme. It is time to make a change. Also not being talked about is this. Steichen reportedly is a very bright man. He had to see what is going on, he had to. In keeping Gus, if he does, is this his first shot stating he believes the problems with the D is more talent than coaching? If he retains Gus, that's what it's telling me. I still have to believe there is more going on behind the scenes
  5. Name me another GM in the history of the NFL who was fired and picked up immediately? With coaches it happens but I cannot recall it happening with a GM. When a GM is fired it is usually after he has been thru 2 coaches and he gets more of a leash than a coach. When a GM is fired there is suusally a long enuff tenure to show that he has failed. If Ballard got fired he would have a below 500 record, no titles and I cannot even recall playoff appearances but it is very few. Do u really think a GM with that resume is getting a 2nd chance if he is terminated? He deserved to get fired last year and I truly beleive the only reason he is still here because Irsay loves his personality and thinks one day he will become a GM if he is able to learn from his mistakes.
  6. I am with you on the quick trigger to retain Bradley. Now about them having conversations behind close doors. Shouldn't these have happened during the season and I saw absolutely no changes to this D. The one thing that really bummed me out is this. We had the Texans and they had no wr depth and Collins is the only guy to worry about. He finished with like 190 yards. That to me is a fire able offence and there was nothing done before and/or during the game to take him out. This pattern has happened to many times during Bradley's tenure with the Colts. I think it is part of the scheme's flaw, the talent but I mean at least try and if you double him and he gets 190, then u tip your cap to Collins!! To me people want to point to that 4 and 1 play but we lost the game because we did nothing to shut down a good receiver playing for a team that had no wr depth. It is really unconscionable that they lost the game the way they did
  7. He is tough as nails, I will give him that . He has good hands, as he should but I would not say his hands are elite. I guess I see what elite traits are important in a receiver different than you. I would not say he is an elite route runner. I just think he is a good receiver and people just get up in arms with that. He is a good number 2 and there is nothing wrong with that. I constantly hear even Colts podcasts question if he is a number #!. You can say he is a #1 on the Colts team if you want and I get it. To me does he fit the prototypical #1 receiver profile and my answer is an absolute no. To me a true #1 is the D coordinator scheming to shut that guy down. Do we play a safety over top and double him and/or do we make sure that our #1 corner is following him all over the field. It is like Moore. Is he a #1 corner? No, he is a very good nickel. Do you pay Moore #1 corner money? No you do not. It is the same for Pittmann. I would never pay him #1 wr money even if the market said I had to. Like a GM said. You get into a lot of trouble when you start playing good players at elite prices. I was against the Taylor contract and it had more to do with I just felt they should have let the year play out because of injury and they could have franchised him. I think Taylor is an elite runner but needs to be a better passer. That being said, he is a player maker no doubt and I am really not going to all in a dizzy over the signing. Now if they sign Pittman for like 25 mill a year, that would be silly. I would rather let him test free agency and target a wr in the 1st and even move up. I am way more comfortable with that scenario
  8. not sure about that. He really underwhelmed me in the national championship game. It was his big moment to truly elevate his stock against a power house. Sure he was pressured but there were times where he was very inaccurate when he had the time. I actually think if he played well in that game, they easily could have won
  9. Who would you have given the all pro nod to? Remember if you are crowing one of our players, you have to replace him with a player on the list.
  10. U need an explosive passing game in todays game. You get a 180 yards rushing in the old days like Taylor did on the weekend and i bet you win 99% of your games 10 years ago . High rushing totals don't guarantee a win anymore as the game has changed so much.
  11. I think Gronk and Kelce would say you can have your offence built around an explosive tight end but you still have to have some help on the outside. I think this maybe the year where you could see the Colts finally trade up for that wr for Richardson.
  12. i totally agree with him about Pittman. I think he is a good receiver. I don't see any elite traits and there is no way I open the vault for him. Ask yourself this. When the D coordinator for the opposing team devises his game plan,, do you think he has on his board "need to shut down Pittman"? and I am asking that question with a fully healthy Richardson. I think Ballard maybe forced to sign Pittman because of his poor drafting in being unable to draft wr talent. I think resigning Pittman is more because o we have to rather than we would like to. Just saying. Let us say that Pierce had elevated himself , and I think his development has been stunted by qb play because of the style of game he plays, do you think they would be resign Pittman? If we had a legit receiver in Pierce and Downs is show promise, I think they would eagerly let him test the free agent market. I think resigning Pittman is similar to resigning Taylor. I think they were in a corner because they really lack any playmakers on offence
  13. Richardson doesn't need to change his playing style and I really question if people actually watched the games he got injured. He didn't get injured vaulting over the pile and/or taking on tacklers. He really got hurt on typical football plays. If you watch those plays over, they were not cringe plays. He got hurt on your every day average football plays and that is what is concerning. He doesn't need to change his playing style, he just needs to get his body right so that he can absorb hits without ending up on IR.
  14. You can be a great foot ball mind and a bad coach. Being a bad coach does not take away from someone's football acumen.
  15. Ballard hired Dobbs from Seattle and yes it is a reflection of Ballard's decision making. How have the two of them been at recreating the Legion of Doom??
  16. Go back and review all of their games based on the offence and Oline they played. They get those stats in games where they play below level Olines and teams with below average qb. When they have played good offences, the Dline disappears.
  17. how is he highly thought of? He was brought in from Seattle to assist in building the Seattle D. He has been a huge disappointment in my books. I hope he goes, because this team needs to move on from this D as much as they can.
  18. To me its not about ranking him. You have your legit number 1#'s and they are few and then you have a bunch of good wrs and he fits in with that bunch. I have no problem with resigning him as he has a role. However, I feel that I dont value him as high as others on this board. The problem with the Colts is that they have not been able to develop any other wrs that could have assumed Pittman's role and they could let him walk.
  19. One thing is consistent with his end of the year press conferences is that they for the most part are in early January. That should tell you all you need to know about his success as a GM.
  20. i don't disagree with you that he has not had great qbing. I just dont see anything elite with Pittman that is going to make me pay 20 mill if that is what he wants. I think even with a healthy Richardson, you get the same type of plays from him. He is not going to dictate defenses and that is the guy i am looking for if i am paying number 1 money. I truly believe that if Richardson was playing, we would have seen Pierce blossom and Pittman would have still been that good number 2 kind of possession reciever.
  21. Higgins in dynamic. When Chase was injured, he took the over the number # 1 role and blossomed. He has proven he can be a true #1 lining up against elite corners and still being productive. Pittman is a good #2 at best and nothing wrong with that. I just dont think he is worth what he is going to want. I could be wrong, but I truly believe if the Colts thought that qbing was the reason for Pittman not reaching that elite status, they would have resigned him by now. He is tall, average speed and I just dont think they are going to invest top money in that type of guy given what Richardson can do. We saw a little of that early with Pierce and Richardson.
  22. He will say the usual Ballard thing. I think the fact that there appears to be little movement on a contract is very telling. I think they have been always prepared to let him walk and test the market. Myself, I think he is gone.
  23. Good. I really dont think Steichen is overly invested in Pittman. He wants more explosive receivers that fits what Richardson is capable of doing. He is a good receiver and not worth near what Pittman wants. I don't think there will be a robust market for Pittman and I think he is going to find that out. I put all chips in for Higgins
  24. I would love Martindale but i think it would be a total revamp of the defense as I believe he runs more of a hybrid aggressive defense. I could live with a revamp
