  1. Solid veteran’s depth piece to fill Lewis’ spot when he ultimately gets hurt or doesn’t make it out of TC….. He hustled his tail off and provided good run support as well as I recall.
  2. I agree with your sentiment and have long supported Ballard because of the mess that Andrew put this franchise in.......the 2019 draft produced two decent QB's in Kyler Murray and Gardner Minshew so neither of them would have raised the bar much that year. Free Agency in 2019 the best QB's were Foles (ironically enough) and Fitzmagic.........so again, not world beaters by any stretch. I believe that off-season would have played out a lot differently if the front office was aware of his retirement and Ballard may have made different maneuvers. As far as my original statement of No, but yes if he'd won a Superbowl, I still stand by that because that is not our decision as fans. The voters would view the stats and the Superbowl and graded on a curve due to the injuries just like they have in the past. He was a top 5 QB (by stats) on his career trajectory after all..... Again, I do not like how it played out because I believe in transparency!
  3. Okay, I'll read the whole thing and see what you mean.....
  4. No. I've read many of your posts in the past and I know you are smarter than the sarcastic response you just gave. Having said that, I will break it down Barney style for you................Sandy Koufax. He was one of the most dominant pitchers in MLB for a 6 year stretch of his career before retiring due to injury. He was part of 4 WS Winning Teams as well. In football terms think Terrell Davis - only 4 dominant years.........but won SB's twice. So in comparison had Luck won a Superbowl in those 6 dominant years of ball then yes, I think he'd get a pass on the longevity issue due to injury. It would have been about his impact on the game in that short stretch - there are plenty of examples of enshrined players. Having said that, it's a travesty that Sterling Sharpe is not in the HOF after his career was cut short due to injury.
  5. One word. No. If we had won a Superbowl in those first six years, then yes.
  6. I would be happy with those choices! Watched JJ play at Iowa and they turn out pro ready corners, especially since they run a 4-3 or 4-2-5 zone defense......oddly enough we have not drafted a DB out of Iowa since Bob Sanders though????
  7. As you indicate the roster sits at 88 plus the German kid's exemption. So yes, they could stand to add 2 more to the 90 man roster and throw them into the mix. As far as OLine is concerned and based off of the 1-Year deals that CB prefers giving out then there are still a few intriguing guys that could add to the competition: Dalton Risner - 27 years old Gabe Jackson - 31 years old Trai Turner - 30 years old Cornerbacks Josh Jackson - 27 years old - 6'0" with 31+ inch arms and a 9.27 RAS Eli Apple - 27 years old - 6'1" with 31+ inch arms and a 9.01 RAS Marcus Peters - 30 years old - 6'0" with 31+ inch arms and a 7.2 RAS Ronald Darby - 29 years old - 5'11" with 31+ inch arms and a 9.11 RAS
  8. For me, it’s us fans……. Are we going to implode at the first sign of rookie growing pains? Are we going to see the talent of Brents, Rush and Jones even though the blown coverages and typical rookie mistakes? Are we going to stay positive and trust in the process/culture that the new coaches are trying to instill in the locker room? Are we going to rock the dome in full support up 10 points and down 10 points? After all, if the coaches work their tails off with the players the front office provides them we can cheer our tails off supporting them as well!
  9. I think the trio of Samson, Paye and Dayo are going to post 25-35 sacks all on thier own. The perfect storm is brewing - Dayo fully healthy and making the 2nd year jump combined with Samsons confidence in earning a starting role and Paye putting it all together all at the same time! I know, I know…….that is far too much optimism for most of you to handle…..
  10. I am not basing this off of Richardson/Minshew being better than last years stiffs........... There were a lot of factors that drug the team down last year and the infusion of a new Coach and some key staff members will ignite some stuff methinks........ Am I talking about winning the division, no, but a more modest 7-10 to 9-8 record is achievable in my humble opinion.
  11. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh well that makes perfect sense then! But still, 3-14 is just out there!
  12. So PFF published an article stating the Colts are going to go 3-14. This needs to be bookmarked so we can laugh at the end of the year about how trash these predictions are! https://coltswire.usatoday.com/lists/indianapolis-colts-record-prediction-every-game-2023-adam-rank/ There is no way the Colts will have a worse record this season than last! They had 4 Wins and a Tie PLUS lost to Washington, Philly, Minnesota and Houston when they shouldn't have with what I would humbly consider a WORSE roster. Three wins is laughable with the talent this roster has!
  13. His height and weight and 40 drag him down at all three spots but as a SS he rates at a 5.88
  14. I purchased it in conjunction with YouTube.tv. Not overly impressed with YouTube yet but I look forward to watching this young team play from the comfort of my home in the Iowa woods!!!! Lol
  15. Worst Draft Pick - Art Schlichter - Round 1, Pick 4 in 1982................... Worst FA Signing - Antonio Cromartie - lasted like 3-4 games with us................ Worst Breakup - Andrew Luck quitting on the team at the end of the preseason after Free Agency and the draft had taken place. Best QB in that draft is on our roster now in Gardner Minshew.....lol Worst Trade - I can think of several........two first rounders for Fredd Young, the Trade up for Jeff George (HoF Chris Hinton, Andre Rison, et al), Trent Richardson, Cornelious Bennett..............but the worst by far was caving to John Elway and trading him away.
  16. Makes me even happier that Ballard tripled down on boundary corners in the draft! Brents, Rush and Jones (and Flowers) should all be contributors this season.
  17. Seriously? Your position was that they WOULD NOT NOR HAVE NEVER THOUGHT about sliding Smith back into RG and I literally just showed you that they did, in fact, slide him back into RG last year to see if it was a better alignment.
  18. Yes and sometimes one’s skill set is better off at a different spot on the oline. Having said that the real truth is this, had the Colts drafted a highly decorated offensive guard prospect in the 3rd-5th rounds out of Alabama (like everyone mocked to us) this thread likely wouldn’t have started….. but they didn’t, they got the SAME GUY as an UDFA and all of a sudden the Colts did nothing……
  19. https://coltswire.usatoday.com/lists/indianapolis-colts-denver-broncos-pff-grades-nfl-week-5/
  20. Funny how you forget he was drafted as a Guard and the Colts slid him back into Guard last year around week 5 in an attempt to “fix” the line…..so I wonder why you think they’d not considered it this offseason? I mean they drafted two highly talented and athletic Offensive Tackles - not guards, but Tackles. I would be careful who on this board you call stupid my friend….. Blake Freeland started at RT his first two years at BYU and then LT the last two years and has given up 1 sack, 7 QB Hits and 18 hurries in that timeframe……I see no reason why he couldn’t be our starter at RT and slide Smith back into guard (large contract or not). The other option is Ekiyor at RG. In his three years as a starter at Bama he gave up 2 sacks, 9 QB hits and 34 hurries in the SEC. I don’t doubt that the front office is not not looking, but they aren’t looking for a starter anymore. Between Pinter, Fries, Smith, Ekiyor and Freeland our two starters are already on the roster!
  21. The only positional group that ‘worries’ me is the offensive line. The team needs them to find their swag again for AR5’s sake. Unlike previous QB’s he has the ability to escape and save a beating but it is still a concern. Remember David Carr’s rookie year? Ouch….. I strongly believe that both of Freeland and Ekiyor are capable of starting at the NFL level given their history and I especially believe that Ekiyor will likely beat out Will Fries AND Danny Pinter at RG…… Raimann - Nelson - Kelly - Ekiyor - Smith will return our line to respectable form with Sporano’s voice in their ear. Pinter, Fries and Freeland make for solid depth. Having said that, we should be under no illusion that we will go from worst to first THIS year. So what I would like to see is all of Brents, Rush, Jones and Flowers getting plenty of reps at Corner and all of Thomas, Cross and Scott getting plenty of reps at Safety this year to grow together as a young, fast, aggressive defensive backfield. Whatever Moore, Rodgers and Blackmon add is superfluous at this point in my mind. Same at TE - if Ogletree shows out again and Mallory’s skills play then I’m sorry either Mo or Gransen has to go in favor of Woods, Ogletree and Mallory….. I feel like this is the year we finally give up on the oft-injured Lewis and just let the young cat Titus Leo take those backup Leo snaps….especially with the addition of Ade Ade and Taven Bryan inside as well. Basically we gotta sacrifice a little playing time to let the kids grow into the next great team. My humble opinion of course……
  22. All the UDFA's sign a three year deal........you can see them on Sportrac
