  1. If we go into this year with Thomas and Blackmon as our starters with Harrison and Cross as our depth behind them then I’m good with that and think we’re solid. If they keep Tabor over Denbow as a 5th guy I’m okay with that too….. I think it comes down to how many corners they keep and special teams value. Moore Brents Rush Baker over Tony Brown Flowers Jones Those are our 6 corners I would think.
  2. They ran a 4.62 and a 4.63……both are slow by your definition so they both must suck and are just camp bodies!??! You know……since you only report the facts and data to back it……Harrison is actually slower than Tabor. Hating on one while implying praise for the other based on one singular data pull (speed) is dumb when there is far more context that could be used - for example, you can’t quantify instincts. Harrison played safety at Bama at a high level while Tabor played Corner at Florida at a decent level - but instinctually one plays safety better in the NFL currently. Has nothing to do with speed…..instinct, technique, angles and coaching. Denbow is faster than both of them but looks like a deer in the headlights on defense. Special teams no doubt he’s good but on base defense he’s lost, why is that? He’s faster…..
  3. To be fair, by my recollection, Luck got hurt staying in the pocket for a hit AND for an off-season injury playing in the snow - not from scrambling……
  4. You have been a member of this board since 2013 and a fan as far back as Baltimore............congratulation you watched Johnny U and Bert Jones (when healthy) have HoF and solid careers, respectfully. Since the move to Indy here is a laundry list of QB's that I would take Anthony Richardson talent over every day of the week and twice on Sundays: Mike Pagel Art Schlichter Mark Hermann Jack Trudeau Gary Hogeboom Chris Chandler Jeff George <------- You think this clown has a better career than AR will have? A 46-78 Career Record with 7 Teams (Raiders 2x) Jim Harbaugh Curtis Painter Dan Orlovsky Kerry Collins Matt Hasselbeck Josh Freeman Scott Tolzien Jacoby Brissett Bryan Hoyer Phillip Rivers Carson Wentz Matt Ryan Nick Foles So this begs the question - you'd run those guys out there before AR?
  5. Again........first NFL live action..........how did he perform AFTER the INT should be the focus........
  6. Here's what I saw, and quite frankly all I was truly looking to see IN THE FIRST PRESEASON GAME.................do our young guys LOOK and CARRY themselves like NFL caliber players.........my answer is a resounding yes. AR5 did not shrink in the moment, he played with poise, and he played with confidence. He led a couple decent drives AFTER the INT and that is what you would hope to see - confidence in his ability. Does he look like an NFL QB - absolutely. For the nay sayers I remember a certain Andrew Luck that had a tendency to shoot high on his passes as a rookie too......so Shhhhhhhhhhhh....... Freeland stepped up in his first true NFL action against a top 5 defense and more than held his own. Sure, he could use a bit more strength but a rookie taking his first snaps when he was not expected to start this year that was huge. He showed he belongs too. The young quartet of Brents, Jones, Baker Jr. and Rush all had their individual ups and downs in coverage, but they looked the part of NFL caliber CB's and did not look lost. Pair them with Kenny and Dallis and those 6 CBs are the future (well maybe not Kenny after this year). All 5 youngsters are 6'+. 190+ with good speed, long arms, productive in college, and athletic scores of 9+ to boot. You want a comparison - look how lost Toliver (#27) was or even Taylor-Stuart (#37)............you can see in the body language how much different those players are. Downs is a playmaker. Full stop. Speaking of WR's, I'm liking this philosophical change from Ballard in the WR room (likely with Steichen's input) ...........with your X and Z receivers in the 6'3" to 6'5" height range and your TE's in the 6'2" to 6'7" range it's nice to have Y receivers in the mold of Downs, McKenzie and Rodgers in the 5'9" range. Not only can those three get open based on their skillsets underneath, but they also have the advantage of running in the land of giants without (potentially) being seen at times...........they are like little jitterbugs out there! Speaking of TE's - damn we have a room full of dawgs!!!!! Someone will need to be traded as I just don't think we can slip those guys on the PS? Also, all but Mallory were drafted prior to Steichen so he may not like the giants we've accumulaed and may like Gransen and Mallory for his offense???? Something to think about. Personally, I like the mixture of skillsets they have accumulated this offseason. With Steichen's influence on the roster, it will be difficult to predict who makes the 53 this year because of the mostly new offensive staff and philosophies.
  7. I'm at work and will come back and read the full post, however, as I watch the replay (at around the 6 minute mark of the 3rd Quarter) I can tell you that DB #27 (Keven Tolliver III) will be cut..............off the dome he has given up A LOT of receptions so far!
  8. RBBC consisting of Hull, Moss, and Drake would be perfectly fine. Perhaps this is where a Zavier Scott or Jake Funk slip into the opening day mix with Moss's injury and JT's ego.......
  9. Only two possible outcomes in my mind at this point….. Injured Reserve for the year; Injured Reserve and Return… No trades will be made for a RB on an expiring contract with a bum ankle when nobody has signed the currently healthy options available in free agency still…..
  10. Don’t like Hunt the person - beating and kicking a woman - but Hunt the player would be a solid 1-2 punch with Drake and Hull as the 3rd down back. My two possible outcomes for JT is IR or Trade. To trade him though, requires him to be activated (I believe)?????
  11. 2019 Chargers RB by Committee - More like a two-man thunder and Lightning concept - though Steichen took over mid-season from Whisenhunt: Austin Ekelar Melvin Gordon Justin Jackson 2020 Chargers RB by Committee - much more spread out especially between the latter three backs: Austin Ekelar Joshua Kelley Kellen Balladge Justin Jackson 2021 Eagles RB by Committee - the former two had equal carries while the latter three had less but spread out fairly equally: *Jalen Hurts Miles Sanders Boston Scott Jordan Howard Kenneth Gainwell 2022 Eagles RB by Committee - more of the same for the latter two while Miles outpaced Hurts this year as Hurts threw more: *Jalen Hurts Miles Sanders Boston Scott Kenneth Gainwell So it's very possible we could move on from JT and have a more balanced attack between Richardson and whomever they keep on the roster and likely have a more diverse offense. I love JT but he is replaceable just like every other RB these days.
  12. I had him on the colts radar last year as a 7th Rounder or priority UDFA so I was pleased when we signed him. As far as Lammons is concerned, I do wonder if he gets cut now or if they view him as potential depth they get to conveniently stash for at least three weeks for free? I would hope this didn't come as a surprise to our FO........but it could have been calculated to keep a player in the building for a few more weeks........hmmmm
  13. This whole thing is bull crap - our front office is tight as a drum so all these national media talking head’s aren’t getting any inside information to publish so it’s all just speculation at this point. I think JT is acting like a child right now but AT LEAST he’s on the sidelines with his teammates. I mean he looks like he’s pouting 90% of the time, but he is there.
  14. No, I don't. A contract is a contract is a contract...............he signed it in good faith, and he should play it out in good faith. He's just like every other spoiled child these days that uses social media to be divisive and air dirty laundry...... You have your opinion and I have mine. They differ very much and absolutely nothing you say to me will change my stance! I've signed contracts before and honored them.......so my opinion comes from a place of having put ink to paper before.
  15. Pittman has handled it like a professional. JT is not. He's acting like a petulant child. I have not seen Zaire's tweets because I don't do social media like that..... If the organization caves who's the next crybaby that pouts and stomps his feet to get their way? Kenny Moore II tried that last year and found out it doesn't work. Seriously, Jim Irsay has a proven record of paying his players and also has a record of cutting bait with injured players that were unpopular but the correct decision.
  16. That's like caving in to whiny child.........let his butt rot on the NFI or IR all year.
  17. This is just getting petty…..if this article is to be trusted about him, then he’s being a &@$%# about this….. I don’t care if they asked him to play thru the injury - everyone does that, even guys on my slowpitch softball team - they asked you to come in early for a physical evaluation…….who tf cares!??? Unless you’re hiding something…..like an injured back……hmmmm https://coltswire.usatoday.com/2023/08/03/colts-jonathan-taylor-news-trade-steadfast-desire-play-elsewhere/ Star running backs are nice, but not necessarily needed anymore as running back by committee seems to work better in the long run anymore.
  18. Jeeeeezush people on this forum probably %$#@& if their ice cream is too cold based off of this thread alone........whiners
  19. I may be Army Retired but one of my favorite Marine Corps expressions is as follows: U - You S - Signed (The) M - Mothereffing C - Contract Now play thru the length of the contract in the same good faith as when you signed it.............
  20. Funny that you mention Gilly in this thread @bluephantom87 as this kid's pro comp was none other than Gilly........lol UDFA: Isaac Taylor-Stuart, CB, Southern California RAS: 9.61 Athletic comp: Stephon Gilmore Plus I saw an article where he was also comp'd to Josh Norman. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10026490-isaac-taylor-stuart-nfl-draft-2022-scouting-report-for-usc-cb So if he turns out to be anything equal to Josh Norman or even a light version of Gilly I would say that this signing is just fine! He's another long CB with speed that needs coached up a bit (like Flowers).
  21. I count probably 7 locks - leaves 2-3 spots with 9 guys fighting it out. I like Gus Bradley’s shot at having two waves of pass rushers
  22. So now the defensive line is pretty crowded...............16 fellas for probably 9-10 spots........... Paye Samson Dayo Lewis AQM Tomi (Rookie) Genard Avery Khalid Kareem Titus Leo (Rookie) Buck Grover Johnson McTelvin Agim Taven Bryan Caleb Sampson (Rookie) Jamal Woods (Rookie)
  23. I like them, they are different and I hope the black helmet stays...........
  24. Herbert's QB Rating his rookie year was 98.3 and has not been as high after SS left for the Eagles.... Hurts's QB Rating under Steichen improved by 10 points to 87.2 his 2nd year in the league (1st with SS) and then jumped 14 points to 101.5 his 3rd year in the league (2nd with SS)......... I would say he has a little latitude when it comes to helping to develop young QB's especially when the two listed above are different style of QB's where one is a classic 6'6" drop back passer and the other is a 6'1" mobile running style QB....... In comparison to FR............he broke Matt Ryan.........He didn't teach Phillip Rivers crap..........and Wentz (Ugh....just ugh).....not a QB whisperer in the least bit.
