  1. Looks like DT Christian WIlkens will not get the tag for Miami. According to BR this morning the Colts had discussions with Miami regarding trading JT for WIlkens back when the drama started with JT’s contract. It didn’t happen but now that he will be a FA there is a possibility the Colts could still be interested in signing him as he would be a replacement for Grover. WIlkens is 28.
  2. Miami DT Christian Wilkins is a FA. Just read an article on BR saying when all of the JT drama was going on last year the Colts did have conversations with Miami about trading Taylor for Wilkins. It never happened of course but if Wilkins makes it to FA the Colts might pursue him as a replacement for Grover. He’s only 28 so if there was interest before it makes sense that the interest could still be there.
  3. I don’t believe Aiuk is a FA. They are just talking about extending him.
  4. Reggie really must have had some influence.
  5. The tag is $21m. That’s the starting point. Both sides know that. Evans just got $26m. That should enable them to get a deal done before a tag is required. Ballard said they were close. If they were close I would think Evans deal should help finalize it. Unless, of course, they are not close.
  6. Who’s going to give him a serious offer knowing it will cost them two 1st rd picks? You really can’t say you’ve tested the market until you can prove it with a written offer. I don’t think he gets one on the tag at that cost.
  7. This could get the Pittman deal before the tag. My suggestion. Same numbers and guaranteed percentage. Just four years instead of two.
  8. Looks like Brian Burns might be heading to a tag a trade scenario as well. That might have some appeal for Ballard as well.
  9. What I thought was interesting today is they showed Ballard sitting in a chair on the field watching the OL going through their drills up close. He likes to do it for linemen. He loves the trenches.
  10. It’s fun to talk about this stuff now but we really need to see what happens in FA. What we do or not do will make a huge impact on the draft.
  11. His personality is just like his father’s. Quiet, reserved, shy, shunned media, how can you expect anything different. That doesn’t take away from his draft status or how well he will perform. He’s still the best receiver in the class regardless of his personality.
  12. Kind of silly imo. He’s probably practiced it 100 times. Not going to do him any good now to keep practicing. Is that supposed to impress teams? I think teams are smart enough to not fall for that show. No worries. He’s still going in the 1st round.
  13. Mark my words players are going to refuse to do physical testing. It's coming. These guys are making a lot of money coming out of college. They will tell the teams I'm not risking injury doing your dumb tests. Look at my tape. That should be good enough.
  14. The way I look at it is it's the tip of the iceberg. A lot of these guys are making very good money coming out of college. Why work out. I don't need to test. I know I'm a high draft pick. Teams can make their decision on my tape. If that's not good enough too bad. I think they will realize there is more downsize than upside in working out. Just so you can have the fastest time. That didn't work out for one CB yesterday. Do the interviews fine. But I think a combine where players do a lot of drills and physical testing is going to shrink and get scaled back. Athletes are starting to object and with agents supporting them it could fall by the wayside. It will take little time but it's heading that way I think.
  15. What Brock Bowers did today wasn’t a good look either. it’s a toss up with Bowers I would say.
  16. He did stumble a bit on the Richardson question. Mentioned flipping a coin. I got the impression he could have gone either way at four. He would have been happy with Levis at four if Richardson went third. That’s why he didn’t trade up. He was going to use that pick on a quarterback no doubt.
  17. He said he is still negotiating with a number of our FA. That’s a good sign.
  18. That’s good for the Colts I would think.
  19. He wasn't serviceable. He sucked. We had no one else to put out there. He can play football. Great. If serviceable means playing the position yeah he's serviceable. lol
  20. He did suck badly I’m afraid. He ranked 80/84 for tackles. That’s very bad. Raiman ranked 7/84. That’s very good. So Freeland did suck badly unfortunately. Yeah he was a rookie and he needs some strength and conditioning. But he has a long way to go to get to average. He shouldn’t be handed the swing tackle position. Hopefully we bring in some competition or a veteran we can count on to do a better job.
  21. This is one impressive interview. Maybe you can repost it on the pick 15 thread. I think posters would enjoy listening to him.
  22. Just listened to CB Terrion Arnold’s combine press interview. OMG. Check it out. Talk about confidence and commanding a room. I wouldn’t rule him out at 15 for sure. Very impressive.
  23. That coincides with the report I read about Bowers. Blocking is not his strongest attribute. Adequate at it for the most part in college. At the next level he’s going to have to get better at I would think.
  24. I just read it this morning on an evaluation for him. I’ve been trying to find it but I don’t remember which one it was. I do a lot of reading at different sites. Maybe I will stumble on it again. The evaluation pointed out his blocking as his biggest flaw that will need coaching and effort to improve. We know what he is good at but apparently blocking is not one of them according to this evaluation. He is still considered a first round talent by most but where he is picked is up for debate. All of these prospects need work on something. None of them are perfect. I just thought it was ironic that when Ballard talked about Tight Ends yesterday the first thing he mentioned was how hard it is to find one that can block.
