  1. It’s interesting you used the word splash. An hour ago I watched a video put out by the Colts on their site. JJ Stankweitz was one of the three people discussing upcoming FA. It was recorded Friday. They were asked to guess which three of our own FA would be brought back. J J said Moore, Blackmon and Lewis. Another man swapped one of them for Minshew. The third finally brought up Grover. Then they said they forgot about Grover. I wasn’t expecting that. JJ ,out of left field, then said he thinks they are going to make a splash signing . He thinks it’s going to surprise everyone. He has no idea where but it’s a feeling he has. They are all Colts employees. He used the word splash. Coincidental? I guess we will find out soon.
  2. I agree. When it comes down to a player having a liking for a team or city or coach that changes everything. Not exactly a good situation for Indy. I think Ballard will pay market price too but he draws his line at least up to this point.
  3. Just read an article on SI with 10 predictions for FA. One of the predictions concerns the Colts. The think we will be active and the DL will be a target. They think we are looking for an upgrade over Grover. But they also predicted we won’t make a splash. So if their right that probably eliminates Wilkins.
  4. Just now read an interesting article on SI making 10 predictions for upcoming FA. One was regarding the Colts. They predicted we will be active but won’t make a splash. But the prediction focused on our DL. Stating the Colts are happy with Paye and Ebukam on the outside and the stalwart play of Buckner but are looking for an upgrade at the other tackle spot. They likened it to last year when the Browns were looking for a similar player to take the focus away from and therefore free up Myles Garret more. I would consider signing Wilkins a splash. But as far as we know Grover is still unsigned so maybe another player could be on their radar to replace him.
  5. That’s what your opinion is fine. All I know is Ballard wanted Wilkins as part of a trade for Taylor. That tells me he was willing to extend him and pay him twice as much as what Grover would be. That’s contrary to your argument. To me if you’re prepared to pay 12m just add the additional 12 and you get a younger superior player. Wilkins gives you that dominant interior pressure forcing teams to double team him. Buckner already demand’s double teams. Those two together would be a nightmare for OL lines to deal with. Btw Wilkins had nine sacks last year. In seven years with the Colts Grover has a total of nine sacks. Adding 12m to upgrade a position happens all the time in FA. Who knows Ballard might do it at another position. You don’t think WIlkens is worth it. I do. Difference of opinion. No big deal. You don’t have to be sorry about it.
  6. I’m thinking Kendall Fuller at corner. Safety I’m thinking McKinney or Curl or even Chinn. Depends on what happens with Blackmon. I really like Noah Fant. Hoping on that one. Rigo too.
  7. Just read where Fletcher Cox is retiring. The Eagles could be all over Grover come Monday.
  8. It would be awesome. I would give it a try. I read where one of the biggest needs for the Cardinals is DT. I would be okay offering two 1sts and Buckner and Pierce and being ready to add a couple of 4ths if need be. Something like that. They could do what we did and extend Buckner as part of the deal. I think Dayo would do a good job in Buckner’s spot. He’s no Buckner right now but who is. I love Buckner but he is entering is age 31 year. If we ever thought about trading him the time is now and leading up to the draft. We might be fine with extending him so that kills that idea of course. A trade up in the draft doesn’t always have to be draft picks. He is one of our blue chip players so there could be interest. We know Irsay would love MHJ. Worth having a conversation with the Cardinals I would think.
  9. Now it’s less than 24 hours to the start of FA and we still have not yet signed one of our own. Tick tock tick tock.
  10. I think so too and that could open up the possibility that the Colts trade Buckner this year and decide to put Dayo into his spot. You never know.
  11. I still think if Grover is allowed to hit FA they will make a play for WIlkens. They might not get him but Ballard has said they have made offers to players in the past but they signed elsewhere. Still plenty of time to sign Grover though.
  12. Now it’s less than 48 hours to the start of FA and we still have not yet signed one of our own. Getting closer.
  13. Colts trade up with the Cardinals to secure the 4th pick and select MHJ. Buckner will be included as part of the package.
  14. That’s our Jim. Of course he would want Jr. Would you expect anything less.? The best news out of the interview is he’s being released from the hospital Monday. He’s been in a long time and he just had leg surgery recently. He revealed he has had 26 surgeries in the last seven years. I can’t imagine. Let’s hope it’s the last. Welcome back.
  15. If I had to guess he probably put offers on the table for those he wanted to retain. He had his numbers in mind. If they sign before FA starts he’s happy and the player is as well. If they don’t the Colts will move on to plan B when FA starts. I suppose there could be a little wiggle room but time is running out.
  16. Less than 72 hours to the start of FA and we have not yet signed one of our own. Hmmm.
  17. Don’t know for sure of course but Spotrac has Gus’s market value as $1m less than Moss. 3.6m vs. 4.6m. That doesn’t sound expensive for a backup running back. Moss coming back would be nice of course.
  18. If we’re looking for a RB to back up JT in FA a solid back is available in Gus Edwards of the Ravens. 6’1” 238lbs who is 29 years old I believe. He is a very good downhill bruising runner who might be a nice complement to Taylor and shouldn’t be expensive. Watching him reminds me of Moss actually.
  19. No. I was referencing a comment in the article reporting the signing stating that that is what the Bears will do. Create more cap space. The details aren’t out yet. That’s the norm when these big contracts are signed so I would be shocked if it doesn’t happen. I fully expect the Colts to do the same thing.
  20. Without a RAS score how can Ballard justify drafting him? Lol
  21. Bowers doesn’t have a RAS score. Not on Ballard’s board.
  22. Jaylon Johnson just agreed to an extension with the Bears. Now they will remove his tag and pick up more cap space. If we were really that close with Pittman let’s hope Ballard does the same thing.
  23. He was just released this morning. You might want to re read it.
