  1. Let's go with: Bills - still the big fish in the East. Dolphins - JAF (just a fish) Jets - AR or no AR, they are still the same old Jets until they show they are not the same old Jets. Pats - It's just feels good for the soul to pick them for last!
  2. Before the draft I would have voted #1. Now I vote #2. Seriously though, for me, the problem lies in the forward progress rule. IMO, as soon as forward progress is stopped, blow the whistle. Right now it's: Forward progress is stopped, player keeps fighting for yards, if he breaks free he keeps going, if he gets pushed back the ball is moved up to where forward progress first stopped. Do this on the QB sneak and half the time the guys pushing in the back will be too late to the pile and irrelevant.
  3. Hey, I was just doing my math homework. Leave me out of the debate part of this!
  4. The math works fine. 250 x 10 = 2500 (the extra yardage for each year he played) 1000 x 3 = 3000 (estimated yardage for each additional year, if he had played 3 more years) TOTAL = 5500 additional yards in his career.
  5. AFC - Colts, Broncos NFC - Panthers, Packers I kind of looked at Lions as a Cinderella team from last season, so left them out.
  6. I realize this was a joke, but it got me thinking. With Rodgers suspended, and then cut by the Colts, does that mean he can bet on NFL games without penalty?
  7. As a youngster, I do remember Jim Otto from the early 70's Raiders. What I did not know was all the surgeries and physical issues he suffered during & after his playing days. Amazing what he went through.
  8. Interesting that he was placing bets for friends. Basically, the opposite of what I think happens in most cases, with friends of NFL players placing bets for the players.
  9. yuck. Maybe this was what they based it on?
  10. OLine - QB, running game, passing game, are all reliant on the Oline doing their job well.
  11. I can be positive because we have new coach, a new QB, lots of new players, and we are currently tied for first!
  12. Actually, I was saying the opposite. That without good QB play (Luck, Rivers), Ballards teams have been average to poor. Also, I never said “you need an elite QB to win.” Those were your words.
  13. Yet it doesn’t, because the win, playoff, and division column are all dependent on the QB column.
  14. I think the bolded is the key part here. Still several question marks before I'm a believer. Let's not forget the Jags were 9-8 last year. They did win 6 of last 7, so it will be interesting to see if they pick up where they left off. They lost games to the Texans, Colts, Broncos. Yes, it's the NFL & any given Sunday, but those 3 teams are awful. Doug Pederson, other than his 13-3 Super Bowl year, was 7-9, 9-7, 9-7, 4-11-1, 9-8. Lawrence looks legit. But I need to see it play out on the field for another year or two to believe they are more than just an average team in a weak division. Although, I guess average may get it done in this division.
  15. Saints (primary) & Dolphins (secondary) territory!
  16. fan for 50+ years, so not going anywhere. Tough question. Think it depends on several things: 1. Does AR show enough to reaffirm to Ballard & Steichen that he's the guy? If yes, then no to picking a QB 2. What kind of season does MHjr have? If he is a game changer, take him, although...see #4. 3. What do CB & SS think of the 2024 QB class? If there is a "can't miss" guy, (like Luck was) and AR still looks like a question mark, take the QB & look to trade AR. 4. What kind of haul can you get for the #1 pick? This leads into the question "what teams do we think will be looking for a QB for 2024?" AFC Raiders Jimmy Garoppolo Patriots Mac Jones Steelers Kenny Pickett Titans Ryan Tannehill/Will Levis NFC Falcons Desmond Ridder Lions Jared Goff/Hendon Hooker Packers Jordan Love Vikings Kirk Cousins Saints Derek Carr 49ers Brock Purdy/Trey Lance Seahawks Geno Smith Bucs Kyle Trask/Baker Mayfield Commanders Sam Howell/Jacoby Brissett I would not rule out the Cowboys or Dolphins either.
  17. This is along the lines of what I was thinking. In addition to oline play, its AR’s ability to show he’s a passing threat that will benefit JT, more so than AR’s threat as a runner.
  18. I can see the tweet from Jim: We have made Jonathan Taylor the highest paid running back in the league! I'd let at least half the season play out & see if JT can stay healthy, and if a JT/AR backfield does indeed create a problem for opposing defenses.
  19. Not okay for a player to bet on his team to win either. Hypothetical situation: Colts 5 point favorites over Texans. Colts lead by 4 points late in the game. All they need to do to win the game is keep Texans out of the end zone. But for Rodgers to win his bet he needs Colts defense to score, so maybe he jumps a route going for a pick 6 & gets burned deep. I know this is a bit of a reach, but it's certainly possible. Anyone who has gambled on sports has uttered the phrase after a bad beat "what was he thinking on that play!"
