  1. And after those evaluations, there's a lot of changes and work to do as well. There's no time like now!
  2. It was obvious to most people that know football that coaching was the problem in the past.
  3. Colts football is fun to watch, again. Yes, watching the newbie mistakes can be frustrating, but then the switch flips and it's game on.
  4. What's up with Leonard? He mostly got to watch the 2nd half from the sideline. Stick a fork in him, he's done.
  5. This game is a character builder. We'll see how it ends.
  6. There are lots of room for improvement, from Ballard, through Steichen, Bradley, and down to AR5 and all the first years and rookies. Guess we'll see whether or not they can put it all together, but that's certainly not today.
  7. I bet some armchair analysts still try to rate us 32nd (I saw one rating of 30 this week). Chalk it up to clickbait (but don't click on it!).
  8. I think Shane Steichen is going to be a great coach. His strategy is generally good, but he still makes rookie mistakes. He, along with the rest of our team, will learn how to win without trying too hard. "The game will seem to slow down, then let the game come to him."
  9. The common thread is our defense in the 4th quarter. They seem to check out in the 3rd quarter.
  10. Players tend to play as they practice. AR forgot he wasn't wearing a red shirt in a real NFL game. I hope AR survives his rookie mistakes and realizes that, unlike many guys his age, he is not a superhero or immortal.
  11. The Colts have a "75¢ Defense" - it's only good for 3 quarters. Playing a soft Tampa 2 defense was embarrassing to watch.
  12. "The Colts are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you'll get." But, to most of us, it's all good.
  13. I thought the game was constrained to get AR and some of the new players a chance to feel what a real NFL game feels like without showing too much. We need to throw off those constraints as soon as possible because it will become the new norm. Running back by committee may yield similar results to design by committee - a camel is a horse designed by committee. Camels aren't going to get the job done.
  14. Yeah, we lost. But that was still a better game than I've seen the Colts play in a long, long time.
  15. The altitude in Denver has affected Peyton's mind.
  16. There will be probing plays early on to see how the opponent will react. Hopefully, they won't be the same plays, in the same order every game and mixed in with the game strategy and objectives. The game of football is far more complex, today, than it was 10 or 15 years ago. Having a set number of scripted plays just won't cut it.
  17. I don't think anyone want's Shaq Leonard cut. They either want him to play or succumb to his injuries.
