Colts/*s-that was embarrasing

Offense: the passing game was good, Luck (23-39-303) just barely continued his 300+ yardage streak, Hilton was the targeted "takeout" and was held to 3-24, Fleener (7-144) was the winner of the who gets the reps, had a career game and looked like a BETTER gronk-*-ski (just a note, what a classless player, he should have been ejected from the game, with his driving block on Brown, which was waaaaaaaaaay out of bounds) I sure hope the defenders who wear the horseshoe remember that and retaliat-BIG

First half breakdown-defense and special teams

DL: nobody has really stood out, but as a group, have been very solid and if they weren't getting the job done upfront, the rest of the unit would not be playing at a high level. Jean-Francois has looked very good, Redding isn't playing like a guy in year #13,Kerr has been a real find-the rotation would have been alot thinner without his production, with Moala out and Jones-who was the big off season addition, missing most of the year-so far and having very little production. Same can be said ab

First half breakdown-offense

QB: Can't play much better than Luck has to this point, #1 in the NFL in attempts, completions, yards and TD's (#7 in rating) and is on pace to break, or at least threaten the all-time yearly marks in all of those categories (-) there have been a few questionable throws and at times, hasn't looked sharp, but I guess that's life in the NFL and in year #3, is already considered one of the best in the NFL RB: Both Richardson and Bradshaw, if nothing else, will give you 100%, every time their numb

Colts/steelers-there will be days like this ( that bad-really?)

After a 5 game winning streak, the bubble burst-bigtime...not a whole lot can be said in a game like that, a 100 %-complete-total domination, by the steelers offensive and defensive lines, I guess on the bright side, it says a lot about the amount of skilled position players this team has, when your lines are dominated in that manor and you still have a fighting chance to win in the 4th quarter. Over the past 10-15 years, there is a common theme, when we play (good) teams that play a 3-4 defense

Colts/Bengals-Dominating ("D")

I wasn't overally convinced of how good this team was, after routing Jacksonville and Tennesee, yes, maybe a rout wasn't expected, but a win was, but after beating a very good Ravens team and now a very good ( at least they used to be) Bengals team and the dominating way it was done, I am convinced. Offense: totally clicking on all cylinders, Luck spreading the ball around, the running game looking very good and the much maligned O-line , really getting it done. Luck has been unstoppable (27-42-

Colts/Texans-the Hilton show

What started out looking like another Thursday Night blowout, ended up being a down-to-the-wire contest. The Colts couldn't do no wrong for most of the first half, everything worked. We always hear how tough it is to win in the NFL, I am noticing how tough it is to play a complete game, the final score is all that matters, but it is amazing how this group can dominate ( for a half) then struggle-the other. I have to give the texans some credit, still don't see them as a playoff caliber team, the

Colts/Ravens-Colts win slugfest

A bit of an off day for Luck, he only completed passes to 7 different receivers, seriously he continued to dominate (32-49-312-TD), the offense is clicking on almost all cylinders, the reason I say almost, is because they can be even better. Hilton led the way (9-90), really glad to see Allen (4-59-TD) getting more reps, we have alot of weapons at WR, both RB's are good out of the backfield, but Allen and Fleener can really create mismatches and everyone is talking about Allen being the next gre

Colts/Titans-back to back routs vs division foes

Another "easy" win vs another less than stellar division opponent, pretty much a total team domination in all the phases, highlighted by an amazing 42-17 edge in time of possession Offense: consecutive (almost) perfect efforts from Luck (29-41-393-4 TD's, spreading it around again, hitting all 9 receivers, led by Reggie (7-119-TD) and Hilton (6-105) with Allen, Fleener and Bradshaw adding TD's. The running game totals went down for the 3rd straight week, totaling 103 yds, it seemed to look a lit

Colts/Jags-Colts get hot in Fla

Nothing like a game vs one of the leagues worst teams to make the sun look a little brighter, a very dominating first half, followed by a lets get this game over second half....it was a very good effort, all around, but until those kind of results come vs a team with a little more talent, not sure exactly how much it means Offense:welcome back to elite Mr. Luck, after an inconsistent start to the season, Luck was clicking on all cylinders (31-39-370-4 TD's and most importantly...... Colts/Eagles-holy running game batman!

Now if we can find a decent QB- obviously I am kidding, but it is ironic that we have waited a looooooooooooooooooong time for a game like that from the RB's and that same game, Luck looks like he won't be playing in this league very long? It's hard to gauge anything, after 2 games, win or lose, but it is enough to see patterns developing, good and/or bad. Offense: The running game looked great, to the tune of 149 yards (169 total) and even better, both backs looked great, Richardson has looked

Colts/Broncos-the rematch

What is becoming the norm, a tale of 2 halves In the first half, the Colts were a no-show, couldn't play much worse than that, ineffective on offense and really didn't even slow down the Broncos offense, not really sure why this is becoming commonplace, kinda defies logic, one of of my favorite phrases, since many things in the NFL-defy logic. then for whatever the reason- I have heard they played better- I agree-but why? Offense: It was great see Reggie back, who led the receivers (9-98) Allen

How good will the 2014 team be?

QB- the only question is how much better Luck will be, there is usually significant growth from year #1 to year #2 and Luck was much better year #2,then at some point, soon there after, the breakout year, which will most likely be,this year or next RB- Is Richardson going to be better-kinda has to be.....is he ever going to justify giving up a first rounfd pick? Is he ever going to be elite? Can Bradshaw stay healthy for 16 games? Is Herron good enough to carry the load , if they don't produce a

Who made the cut

There were 3 "healthy" players who I thought would make the cut , that didn't ( Meggett-McKinney-Sheppard) not even sure 2 of them ( Meggett-McKinney) were healthy, since they really didn't get many reps, so Sheppard was the only real surprise to me At RB, I went with Meggett, over Tipton and if it really came down to it, I thought Fluellen looked a tad better than Tipton, but they were pretty much even, plus when you trade for a guy, you kinda think he has a good chance to make the team, I had

There are some players on this list that will get injured, there are players who are not on this list that will be added before the final cutdown, that will effect the final roster spots, the roster as it stands now and who I think will make the cut: QB- Luck-Hasslebeck RB-Richardson-Bradshaw-Herron-Meggett FB-Havili TE-Allen-Fleener-Doyle ( Swoope-practice squad) WR- Wayne-Hilton-Nicks-Moncreif-Rogers-Whalen (Washington-PS) C-Holmes (Harrison-PS) G- Mewhort-Thortan-Louis-Reitz T- Costonzo-Cherl

Camp is coming: a look at the roster-Defense

Even in this new era, it seems like the same scenarios, the Offense is loaded and very productive, the O-line is a major questionmark and the Defense, each year, is trying to get to that same level: DE- The biggest addition of the off season was Jones-who brings talent, production and flexibility to a unit that really needed it. Jones and Redding will be the starters on the outside, with Jean-Francois being the top backup DT/NT- There are a group of guys who have yet to take the spot and claim a

Camp is coming: a look at the roster-Offense

In the Luck era, there have been 2 playoffs appearances, season #2-a little better than the previous year, each year, the goal is to improve and reach the Super Bowl-that goal will get a little harder to achieve once the core young players start earning "real" NFL salaries vs the rookie salaries they are currently playing under. The reality is, in the salary cap era, alot of things have to fall into place at the same time, to have a chance, there is only so much money and there are going to be ho

A look at the Colts draft

2nd RD: Jack Mewhart-6'6-315-OL....... Very versatile linemen from Ohio St, started out as a Guard, played left tackle, even has some experience at Center (high school) typical big ten player... tough- old school mentality, was a team captain and had a very good week of workouts at the Senior bowl.....with many years of lackluster O-line play, he will be thrown into the mix for a chance to be a starter 3rd RD: Donte Moncrief-6'2-226-WR.....was rated as high as a borderline first rounder and on p

Thoughts on free agency (so far)

I am sure everybody was expecting more bang, with all the bucks that were available. I like Arthur Jones signing the best, I felt DE was the 2nd biggest need area, his versatility to play anywhere on the D-line, only adds to that. I had high hopes for Josh McNary at ILB, I felt he really added alot with his ability to rush the passer and play the pass and was going to be a key player next season, the signing of D'Qwell Jackson is going to alter that. Jackson has been one of the most productive I

A look at the roster (summary)

Needless to say there are alot of decisions, as always, to be made. Who will be brought back and who won't. There are alot of free agents, guys were injured, guys who are not getting any younger, etc. The 2 biggest areas of need are the 2 lines and depth, depending on who is brought back, there is suppossed to be a lot of cap money available for free agents, so those areas will be addresed that way, the draft won't add as many players as usual, with the coveted #1 pick traded away and only 5 tota

A look at the roster (DB/special teams)

DB: Going into the year, this group was viewed as maybe one of the better units in the league...did not materialize. Davis is a shut down-pro bowl caliber player,on paper, but that doesn't always seem to show up, each week, Toler is an above average CB, who missed alot of games, I really like Butler and Vaughn and Gordy add quality depth. Bethea had another very good season, Landry was supposed to be a difference maker, but I didn't see much of that, other than a few games, he really wasn't much

A look at the roster ( D-line,LB)

DL: There is alot of body's, but nobody that stands out. I thought Chapman and at some point Hughes were going to push for more playing time in the middle, but they were not able to outplay journeymen Franklin. On the outside, Redding had his moments and is one of the team leaders, Moala made some plays, Jean-Francois, at times, the game is won or lost in the trenches and our trenches, both, need some bigtime upgrades, the Colts seem to be high on late comer Pendleton. Moala,Franklin and Mathews

A look at the roster ( WR- O-line)

WR: the biggest concern will be at what level will Reggie return, for various reasons, I think he will be back- near where he left off, but age is catching up at 36, he is not trending upward. Hilton has established himself as one the leagues best young WR's and like many of the young players, will continue to get better. Whalen, Brazill and Rogers all showed promise, with the first 2 having some exceptional games, Rogers probably has the highest upside of the trio. Heyward-Bey is a free agent a

A look at the roster ( QB-RB-TE)

QB: Not much needs to be said here, Luck will continue to get better and is already one of the leagues best, not sure how long Hasselback will be around, but he is invaluable as the backup, providing leadership and experience, not sure what role Harnish has, other than watching, he is a young QB with some potential, he needs to move on somewhere he has a chance to play * not a need area RB: very interesting group, with 4 proven quality players. They will not all be back next year, Bradshaw is a

Good, not good enough...yet

The further you go in the playoffs, the more important playing your A-game becomes and the more important turnovers become, with that said, that was not the A-game and the turnovers...can't happen. The ongoing digging a hole, shooting yourself in the foot and thinking , you can always come back, also doesn't usually work, deep in the playoffs. Was very impressed with the recievers and how they stepped up, the offense was good, the running game was a non-factor, hard to have a running game when y

Un-be-leave-able!

Stats: what are they worth? 1 team had 150 yds rushing-37 minutes time of pocession-1 turnover...the other team had 100 yds rushing-22 minutes-4 turnovers...who won? I just heard on the Eagles/Saints game that the team with the most turnovers is 16-195, in the playoffs....never say never...in the NFL,but this wasn't the seasoned, experienced Manning-Harrison-Wayne-Clark Colts, this was the Luck-Hilton-Whalen-Fleener non-seasoned and non experienced Colts.
