  1. Maybe it’s hard to really tell, but from what I’ve seen Brents doesn’t look good. We can forgive Rush, rookie mistake. Brent’s looks slow. Does Philly have any ex Colts receivers…oh yeah…. Look for Deon Cain to score next Thursday.
  2. The 2nd half was basically a USFL game, fun and frustrating, and most of the guys won’t be playing in the NFL. The thing that frustrates the H out of me is - Why won’t the NFL get full time referees? It’s a billion dollar industry and the officiating (at least in this game) is pathetic.
  3. Bucky is right, we may never see a three year starter, senior, and college grad again - at least not one drafted in the first round. In effect, this is AR5’s senior year. With better players and against the best. That’s an even better way to get experience than playing another year in college. I’m pretty sure that the Colts are treating it that way.
  4. In other news, McDonalds is having a huge filet-o-fish sandwich sale! (Too soon?)
  5. Good analysis on the WRs. As for Risner, I had the same questions. But if you check him out, he was a disappointment for Denver. Average G, at best (LG). His greatest asset was his durability, which is important. But is he better than Fries? Maybe not. Hambright looks like he’s doing well. Pinter is okay as a backup C. Blake is getting a lot of snaps at RT and may be okay. Admittedly, it falls off fast. But how many teams have real depth on the Oline? Personally, I don’t think it’s as bad as some do.
  6. That’s tough, but if he wasn’t going to make the team this could work out for him. He can rehab with the Colts and maybe come back stronger.
  7. Oh Cr*P! That really sucks. Our best gunner. I hope he can recover and play again. I know the coaches and the team loves the guy.
  8. I went to some Bears sites to get their take on the practice. Sounds like MPJ impressed them. Other than that, they probably felt like they got the better of us. There’s a clip of Brents getting burned for a TD in one on ones by Nsimba Webster. He ran by him like Ju Ju was wearing army boots. Drives home the point why we don’t do more press.
  9. Sounds like we have a lot of potential with the young DBs, and they may have played a little press coverage! Great to hear we had some pass rush. Oline depth is still an issue. But probably 28 teams have the same problem.
  10. Not to be a downer, and I like our young guys, but I hope we don’t see that cover 2 on third and long again. Nothing more disappointing than the D plays great on 1st and 2nd, putting pressure on the QB or stopping the RB for a loss - and then on 3rd and long, they let the QB scan the field and hit a wide open receiver for the first. Venturi made a good point, let the guys press a lot in the preseason games. See how they cover. They have the length and speed.
  11. To be fair, there have only been two Buckeye QBs drafted in the first round in the last 10 or so years that have played real games in the NFL. I think Haskins would have been good with the right coaching, but we’ll never know. The jury isn’t out on Fields. It would help if he had a line and some talent around him. We don’t know about Stroud yet. Yes, they have had stellar players around them. But they started because of their abilities to take advantage of that talent. So, maybe I’m taking your comment a little personally as a Buckeye, but can you name any school that has only had successful QBs drafted in the first round?
  12. I was going to say, you can still get them cheap. I saw one in the pro shop last year. Just change that number!
  13. Did Sam ever go with the ones? Or against them? Just curious.
  14. 26 - 28? I wonder what the Vegas odds are for his numbers.
  15. Similar in that they both can run. I'm a Buckeye and watched every game Fields played. He was much more polished in college. Expectedly so. AR5 is like a bigger version, body wise. But he's yet to show he's as accurate. I think the main thing for both of them is pure QB awareness at the pro level. Which is an entire different thing than in college. And I may be looking at it through Colts colored glasses, but I think AR may turn out better in that aspect than Fields. Just MHO.
  16. Just wanted to say - Thanks for the updates!
  17. If it is, then it can't be the same one, can it? Unless they really botched up the operation. I've read that it's supposed to be a 2-4 week recovery time. We're going on -- 6 months?
  18. Has to be. This is going to be a fun year, even if we don’t win much. I expect an expanding offense as the season goes on.
  19. If Buck isn’t playing, your O line will be just fine. We can’t pressure the QB, but we make up for that by having next to no experienced DBs. Every team that goes against us should try to get into 3rd and longs. They have about a 90% chance to convert.
  20. Yeah, it makes much more sense. Give the fringe guys a little more time to show what they have.
  21. This is the same discussion as - Do we want to try to win as many games as possible now (Minshew) OR do we want to develop our franchise QB of the future? Obviously we want to win either way, and we may not win many more games with GM. IMHO, the answer is obvious. Take some lumps and see what we really have in AR5. Minshew isn’t the future.
  22. Im guessing the OP is just one of those people who enjoys getting a rise out of others. And judging by how many responses, he succeeded.
