That is the quote I was thinking of. When my team drafted a QB about ten years ago, many said he should sit behind a stopgap QB. I used that quote above to explain how I saw the situation. I wanted the future with my QB to start as soon as possible. Why wait?!! Enjoy it!

I completely agree with Chuck Pagano. Why start a stopgap when your future is right there on the team? Start AR.

The AFC does have lots of talented QBs. The younger starting QBs in the NFC are: Daniel Jones Sam Howell Jalen Hurts Justin Fields Jordan Love Bryce Young Desmond Ridder Brock Purdy Kyler Murray Definitely not as flashy.

I hear what you are saying. There is no less expensive, younger player than Hunt? I'm sure there will be RBs available after teams cut rosters to 53. Did Fournette retire? He has not garnered any interest? I'm not really a fan of his either. One of the frequent posters on DN (display name starts with a C) had the same sentiments as you. He asked me what I thought of JD McKissic. I would not mind getting Latavius Murray back.

I don't believe Mattison has missed time with injuries. I like Mattison a lot. He reminds me of Cook but may be more durable than Cook. He may not have Cook's speed. Chandler is okay. McBride scares me because he has a history of fumbles. I don't know much about him. I just don't want to pay for a guy (Hunt) to come in and spend only one year. To me that does not help in team building. Draft well and retain the guys you drafted. Sign some undrafted free agents and make some key trades. That is my approach to team building. I am not a fan of signing free agents who have no allegiance to the team.

I hope not. I want us to stick with Chandler and McBride. Now that the Vikes saved $2million from Cook's contract, they may be in position to add Hunt. But I hope not

I agree. I remember Allen at the Senior Bowl. He was throwing missiles 50+ yards down the field. He threw some inaccurate passes, but he left many saying, "Wow".

They were given the chance to play longer and they did not face the #1 defenses. The QBs drafted in the first round did not play much and did not throw as many passes as the guys drafted later. For example, Bennett threw 29 times and Clayton Tune had 23 pass attempts. I think Richardson had the most passes (12) among the ones drafted in the first round.

Exactly. That is why the stats are not as important as how the players looked as they played.

It is very early. The numbers don't fully explain how someone played. Lance looked terrible when I was watching. I had to go out and stopped watching. His stat line looks okay. It probably looks better than he played. Clifford had two INTs but I thought he played pretty well when I was watching him.

Detroit has at least 5 QBs in camp. Only Sudfeld and Martinez played in the first preseason game. Will either make the team. I assume Hooker will make it. Teddy? I don't know.

I thought Tanner McKee looked pretty good too. The Eagles have a knack of drafting good QBs outside the first round. @VikingsFanInChennai Our rookie QB was not too impressive. Does he make the 53-man roster. What did you think of Bechton? Darius Rush may have been a better pick.
