  1. I agree that it won’t come down to one game. They will look at the season as a whole. Something else that will factor in is that Shane didn’t get to pick his own DC. I’m sure he said he was fine with Bradley during the interview process, but I don’t think he’s tied to him. In terms of there being a better guy out there; you never know until you try. Personally I like Joe Whitt Jr. from Dallas. Secondary/Defensive Passing game coordinator. He’s turned Daron Bland into a standout player and obviously helped Diggs get a massive contract. Also saved Malik Hookers career. Also gets good play out of his secondary in general.
  2. Agree with all of this. Especially with corners. Brents is going to be really good. Jones is solid. That’s kind of what you want from your starting outside corners. The question is do you draft a corner high to get better than solid? Especially considering Jones is a rookie and can still get better. A coverage LB should be an easy find in the draft. I like the kid from Texas A&M.
  3. Yes. Play man. Zone on 3rd and long is just dumb. The 4th and 10 they converted was just a gimme.
  4. I saw this last week and besides being disappointed, I was also perplexed. He never struck me as the type to talk the way he did after 1 game. He had his first “okay” game since 2022 and was talking like he was first in votes for comeback player of the year. Then the very next game, he had a whopping 2 solo tackles and 5 total. Im just confused as to why the team that he said was straight up with him at the end and did him a solid by releasing him when they did, is suddenly being accused of talking down on him. They’ve got a thank you Shaq banner on the side of the stadium. He seems really insecure and almost in denial about his own level of ability.
  5. I don’t know if they will, but seeing them move on from Shaq makes me think anything is possible these days. I mean just because we’re not giving up points the way the Dolphins did on Sunday doesn’t mean we have an Elite D. Ballard has to realize that this is not sustainable. That 4th and 10 they gave up in the 2nd half I think it was should kind of be the testament of what you’re going to get from a Bradley D. Plus I think you let Shane go get his guy.
  6. My problem with this, is that this is the story every week usually. He calls it conservative. He blitzed some today end actually had Cross playing back deep, but he went to his usual game plan. He should have done more to try and make life difficult for the rookie QB. Yeah the receivers being left wide open is the issue. That’s not how zone is supposed to work. It’s not supposed to leave guys wide open for 8-10 yards. Bend don’t break my behind because if you bend anything enough times it’ll break. I would like to see more off man and press, or a combination. That final drive the Raiders basically marched up the field freely, and we did nothing to make it challenging. And the tackling is really concerning to me. Because it’s the D-line, safeties, and LBs that are whiffing on tackles. The corners actually tackle well. But guys like Kwity, Blackmon, Thomas, Franklin, Lewis, and Dayo have missed a few tackles this season. It’s a team issue that has to be addressed.
  7. Gus Bradley has to go. He is spotting the team free points with the way he plays the secondary. His defense also seems to struggle with check downs for whatever reason. He’s holding the team back. We won’t win 9 games with a healthy AR next season if he’s still the DC.
  8. Still wasn’t as bad as the 2013 NFL draft. That is still the worst in the last 10 years. 2022 has some guys that could still emerge as great players. James Cook and George Pickens for starters. Kayvon Thidbodeux is coming on as well. It’s too early to fully judge.
  9. Franklin is a liability in coverage. They threw his way a lot and it’s not the first time.
  10. Minshew holds the team back for sure, but even when AR played, the lack of a true game changing receiver was evident. That’s why we hardly saw him uncork the deep ball, which is something that he’s really good at. Pierce has the speed but not the quickness or route running ability. Plus he’s got questionable hands.
  11. Yes. This team needs a Rome Odunze, Brian Thomas Jr., or Troy Franklin. Someone who can win on the outside with speed and route running. Someone who forces the opposing defensive coordinator to adjust to him.
  12. From the talent perspective, part of the issue is Pittman doesn’t really play outside. So even when he’s healthy we’re missing that true “X” receiver. Pierce is also just fast in a straight line and doesn’t have much quickness to his game, so he’s not a reliable option. Must like how Steichen seems to be the one that wanted Downs, I hope this offseason he tells Ballard that he wants a true number 1 outside receiver. Pair him with Pittman (who I now expect to be back), and Downs, and you possibly have an elite receiving core. A healthy AR also goes a long way.
  13. All bad tbh. -Minshew moves around too much in the pocket -Defense is bad at tackling. Like really bad. -Rodney Thomas was again, horrible. Arguably his worst game. I don’t know why he’s still starting. But Bradley was unbearable today. Him and that soft zone coverage that he refuses to go away from. We could not get off the field on 3rd down because of it. The CBs are too far off the ball to force an incompletion or run up and make a tackle on running and screen plays. Also he’s back with the roster nonsense. Thomas is this years Facyson for him. Consistently bad but won’t totally move off of him. Bradley has to go.
  14. Week 4 against Colorado(19): 8 rec, 126 yards, 15.8 YPR, 2 TDs Week 6 Against Washington(7): 8 rec, 154 yards, 19.3 YPR, 1 TD Week 8 against Utah (13) 8 rec, 99 yards, 12.4 YPR, 1 TD Week 10 against USC: 2 rec, 147 yards, 73.5 YPR, 1 TD Week 12 against Oregon State(16): 9 rec, 128 yards, 14.1 YPR, 1 TD He was shut down in the Pac-12 championship rematch game against Washington for 34 yards. Aside from that he had 99+ yards and a TD against every ranked team he played.
  15. So I’m guessing in this scenario you’re projecting Ebuka to move to the outside at the next level. He played almost exclusively in the slot at OSU. Thats how Jefferson was at LSU though, so you can’t completely rule out Ebuka. Great second round pick as well. I think it’s smart to get Kelly’s replacement in now. JPJ has a higher ceiling than Wesley French.
  16. Jackson Powers-Johnson. Center for the Oregon Ducks. Id take him in the 2nd round to eventually replace Kelly who has major health concerns with his concussion history and is getting up there in age.
  17. This post is a bit old, but Granson has not had a great season. Not sure what his contract is like but who knows. We’ve seen more from Mallory, and we seem to want Ogletree to be involved. But I don’t think they draft Bowers now though. We have other needs.
  18. I have yet to see a mock that has Trotter Jr. going that high. I can’t see him going in the 1st round.
  19. After seeing what Cross did, I don’t think we need another FS. We need a SS and preferably one who is good against the run.
  20. Any word yet on if Cross has the starting FS going forward? I don’t remember seeing Thomas really and I know last week, Cross had almost equal snaps.
  21. Could be a good fit in the 1st. Legit vertical speed. I also like Legette in that role.
  22. That’s the way the Steelers have always played. Dirty
  23. Huh? The one play he made the 3rd string QB overthrew the ball the same way Zappe did. He just happened to be right where the overthrow was. Blackmon is bad in run defense and too small to be a real box defender.
  24. I think Jones is the more penalty prone one. He’s got a flag every game.
