  1. That’s a very light offer. As someone else has said it would take multiple first, a couple day 2 picks, and possibly a player. But too really have a shot there’s a few things that you have to be certain will happen: 1. The Bears must take a QB at 1 or trade out the top 10 2. Washington and New England need to take QBs 3. One of the teams picking in the top 5 need to take OT(Fashanu and Alt) 4. You must get in front of the Titans and Giants And that’s to have a CHANCE. If the draft went like this: 1. Bears- Caleb Williams 2. Commanders- Drake Maye 3. Pats- Jayden Daniels 4. Cardinals- Joe Alt You have a chance to trade up with the Chargers at 5 to get in front of the Giants and Titans, but even still, Arizona is also a threat to take him with no real receivers. You’d need to go up about 11 spots. Thats going to cost at least 2 1st rounders
  2. I’m with Rick on this one. Bend don’t break is the motto, but if you bend anything enough it’ll break. Giving up and 3rd and 20 is a great demonstration of that. It can’t always be the personnel. Any DC coordinator would be good with elite talent at Edge, corner, and LB by that token. In a pass happy league you can’t just sit in Cover-3 for 90% of the game. Almost every team has a receiver that excels at finding the soft spots in the zone and sitting down. So playing corners 8 yards off the receivers is just nonsense.
  3. There’s signs of some nuance there and the potential to do more with better coaching at the next level.
  4. I need to see how Coleman tests. I’ve been lower on him because PFF and others have pointed out how he didn’t gain a lot of separation this past season and also didn’t have elite production. 658 yards and 11 TDs with a 13.2 average is kind of pedestrian. However he has an alpha build and mentality that you can’t teach. I also saw a guy on Twitter note that he shows some flashes of being able to get open at the intermediate levels of the field and that it’s really a question of how good he can be. They also had him returning punts and for a guy that may lack long speed, he certainly looked good out there. Hes a big boom or bust pick. If he busts he could be Dorian Green-Beckham. If he booms he could be Mike Williams.
  5. If there’s a guy at a position group that isn’t necessarily a major need, but to me is an elite underrated talent is Jackson Powers-Johnson. He’s the center at Oregon and he’s got it all. Size at 6’3” 320, athletic, cerebral (makes all the line calls), can get out in space, motor, power, etc… I’d honestly take him in the 2nd round. Ryan Kelly can’t play forever and is injured frequently. Way higher ceiling than Wesley French as well. Could start at center as well. He’ll be at the Senior Bowl. I like him as much as I liked John Michael-Schmitz last year. This is a guy you draft now and play later.
  6. And by all receivers, that would mean MHJ, Nabers, Rome, Brian Thomas Jr., and Troy Franklin. For DEs Turner, Laitu, and Verse. Then I’d be comfortable taking Bowers. Bowers is good but he wouldn’t solve the inability to push the ball down field.
  7. I agree. The round 2 receivers are going to be names like Xavier Legette, Xavier Worthy, Ladd McConky, Tez Walker and A.D. Mitchell (although he could sneak into the 1st round). Most of those guys have a similar skill set to Pierce. I think if you want a receiver who is the complete package (Speed, route running, 50/50 ball, etc… that’s in the 1st round. I understand the thinking behind getting a guy like Bowers first but I’d rather get a guy like Rome and let TE figure itself out.
  8. Said it in another topic: Pittman. You could do a tag and trade and either get a 2nd-3rd from him or use him and a pick to move up in the draft.
  9. Dodds will get a few interviews this ho around and this might be the year he gets a shot.
  10. Now at 15 you also have the ability to trade up into the top 10 for less the cost as well. Can’t wait and hope the right person just falls. 1-2 elite level players is better than 7 draft picks with okay backup level players.
  11. Sitting at pick 15 currently. Not sure if there’s anything else to bump us up higher.
  12. We moved up to 16 so far.
  13. Looking at Tankathon I think wins by Cincy, New Orleans, and possibly Seattle may actually push us up in the draft order.
  14. Blackmon is not good against the run and is undersized to be a true SS. I think he’s replaceable.
  15. I’d be willing to go to 10. Even if you have to give up a player and future picks. I don’t feel the same way about the tier 3 receivers (Franklin, Thomas Jr., Mitchell) as I do about Odunze and Nabers.
  16. You figure if we address some of our needs in FA, then giving up draft capital shouldn’t be an issue. Thats what it costs to get premium position players. Plus we’re currently at pick 17. We may only have to go up 5-6 spots.
  17. The needs ranked for me are WR1- Now that we’re picking 17th, I’d like to trade up for Odunze. Need a WR that can stretch the field. Veteran Safety- I think this team needs a veteran in the secondary. Everyone we currently have is young and inexperienced. Would love to get Grant Delpit, Jordan Whitehead, or Chuck Clark. Coverage LB: Zaire has gotten exposed a lot this year. I love his leadership and how he plays the game but he has limitations in coverage as well as movingly laterally. NT Depth: when Grover got suspended, this was a different team. Need to get another beefy DT to either be his replacement, or rotate in for him should we choose to re-sign him. Veteran Corner Depth: It’s fine to roll with Brent’s and Jones, and you could certainly upgrade over Jones in the draft if you wanted too, but regardless we need veteran corners. Guys who have been in the league at least 3+ years. Chidobe Awuzie, Shaquill Griffin, etc… Veterans is general is a need. The Colts roster is filled with rookies or guys on rookie deals. Other teams have a good veteran presence.
  18. When you really break it down, Minshew just makes way too many mistakes. It the same with the defense, but his lows are really bad. It never looks as bad when he turns the ball over, but when you factor in the points he leaves on the board, he can be really bad. That overthrow to MAC was reminiscent of the Wentz overthrow to Hilton against the Raiders a few years back.
  19. The offense just isn’t explosive enough including at backup QB. This game was a dichotomy of what is wrong with the Colts. -Sub-par backup QB -No consistently explosive receiver -Questionable secondary talent -Bad defensive scheme and playcalling -Bad tackling
  20. At some point this has to stop. Everytime something is on the line this team can’t deliver. I also can’t speak to how incredibly limited Minshew is as a QB. Overthrows, under throws, bad pocket presence, not clutch, not seeing open receivers, etc…We saw it all tonight.
  21. If you’re getting a guy who can do what Pittman can already do, but can also do what he can’t (take the top off the defense), then I think it’s a win. Remember that we have Downs who excels in the same areas Pittman does. Pierce is the deep threat guy but that’s all there is to his game. My thinking is if you get a guy like Odunze, he can be a do it all receiver. He can line up anywhere and make plays. And if you support him with Downs and Pierce, you’d have a great receiving room. Also if we ever get a Jack Doyle level TE at the minimum, that helps even more.
  22. I know I may get some flack for this but what if we traded a 3rd and Michael Pittman to go up and get Odunze? We sign Pittman to either a 1 year deal or franchise tag him, and then trade him to a WR needy team that wants to move down a few spots. I mean think about it, a team with a 1st round WR, Pittman, Downs, and Pierce would be crowded. Not enough balls to go around. You’d lose Pitt but you get a receiver that can play outside on an island and move around the field.
  23. I also really like Quinton Mitchell. He’s another perfect scheme fit although corner isn’t a huge need.
  24. Another player I’m starting to like is Beau Brade, safety from Maryland just like Cross. I don’t think he’s as athletic as Cross was coming out, but he’s your prototypical box safety who is great against the run but can also cover in zone as well. Right now Cross is our only safety that’s good against the run, and that needs to change. I’m not either, but I think if Nate Wiggins was there you’d have to pounce. Maybe Kool-Aid too because he’s such a perfect scheme fit. But to me, I’m still taking a receiver first. And as opposed to trading down, I’d actually consider trading up to get Odunze.
  25. Brent’s is actually good at all coverage types from what I’ve seen from him at college and now at the NFL level. Also a lot of the bigger corners are typically better at zone. Now Rock Ya-Sin was a guy who didn’t fit the scheme when drafted, even though that’s when Flus was DC. Every draft analyst that watched him said he’d be a great press man corner. Then we drafted him to play zone.
