  1. thanks, as I said, 1 game doesn't really indicate anything, some things will continue, good and/or bad, some will change....the first game can really show things that may become totally irrevelant....playing vs that type of offense and that type of QB, is not the norm, so it can look ugly, at times, it just didn't look like they had any idea how to even slow him down, this is the NFL and he was pretty much running all over the field

the offense, again, time will tell, but there are 5 linemen and  a QB, that leaves 5 "others" , add a FB and the RB,  that leaves 3, we have 3 very good WR's and 2 very good TE's, so many times, almost half of them are on the sidelines watching the action, a few more games will give us all a better indication of everything

  2. thanks, as I mentioned very few teams get it, so we are near the top of the list already, that is why I said on paper, we are set up for success, alot of things factor into it and can happen. The Manning era was also set up pretty nice and I think bad luck was the biggest factor is the lack of championships...people feel like we make our own luck................Vanderjagt made a bunch of big field goals for the team and had the highest success rate in NFL history, but he missed a really big one....Roethlisberger tackles Harper when he had nothing but open field in front of him...a QB?? Manning throws a pick-six in the 2nd super bowl, even back when Bailey had the ball fall on his chest but couldn't secure it.......some of those defy logic

As far as your *s fan/friends, I would think they would be carefull about running their mouth, the Brady era is nearing a close and they just might not get lucky (pun intended) with his eventual replacement, they could be looking at some non-playoff/championship years in the very near future, but my guess is they will always talk about the past success......this group made the playoffs in year #1 and there is alot of things that are going to get alot better, before its all said and done

  3. what he said is the same things i have heard for the past few years, over and over and ...........

    1. defense wins champ-not true, most of the recent winners have been off. teams

    2. bigger is better- nobody seems to want to acknowledge that our def. was in the top 10 in scoring def. most of the manning era, keeping teams from scoring....IS WHAT MATTERS

    3. getting to the super bowl is irrevelent if you don't win-are you kidding me!!!!!!!!! as i said this is the mindset that MOST people have, these are the same people having and raising kids, driving cars on our highways, they are clueless!!!!!!!!

    4. a g.m. is not rated on wins and losses-huh??????????????????

that is why i decided not to respond, .

  4. good stuff buddy, I share most of those memories with you, the Unitas' Colts were a little before my time, but I know them well and they were awesome!

The Jones' Colts were my fav era, I just started really following football and I thought we were on our way back, didn't last long

Then the rough years, when you had to be very diehard to say you were a Colts fan, it was a looooooooooooooooong wait for.............

the Manning era, what an amazing era it was and as many know, the way it ended kind took a little wind out of my sails and that's something, that I don't think will ever come back, not 100%

Life goes on and many of the "new" Colts have really impressed...Grigson (so far, but 1+ year does not make  legend) Pagano, loved that move from day #1, I still believe when it's all said and done, Luck will be the best ever.....It's not the same for me now, but I can still hold my own vs many , even without the "old" 100%

  5. everyone has their opinion.....to be more direct.....I like Reitz, I think he has the makeup to be a solid player, Ijilana was considered to have more upside than Costonzo, when he was drafted, I don't know much about Thomas, but between the 3 of them, I think we can find 2 players, that's why I said could be upgraded, if we draft a guard in the first few rounds, that would be great, still don't think that is a priority

except for Center,  DE was the lowest rated group, with none of the players rated over a 3.............which is why it does add up :-) there is plenty of depth there, but not an elite player and losing Freeney, makes it even more of a need area, edge rushers are very high on the pecking order for a successfull team and we lost one of the best, guards are often found later in the draft and have very successfull careers

  6. I appreciate the comment, but respectfully disagree......As I mentioned Polian's record speaks for itself, his track record of taking teams to the Super bowl, ranks among the best-ever, I am not going to waste time arguing with those who say............yes, but he didn't win the game, I won't even bother to say what kind of logic they have. It's no secret alot of money/draft picks were spent on the offensive side of the ball during Polian's tenure, if anybody really takes a good , long look at the post season losses , it was that high powered, high priced offense that didn't get the job done, not the average defense, the offense dominated the  regular season, then come crunch time, didn't deliver. One thing that I see alot of, is selective criteria...........which is taking certain stats, to make a point and not looking at the whole picture. Polian wasn't  perfect, I do believe with the talent level, there should have been more than 1 championship during his time there, was that his fault? Partly, but I think there are many reasons for that

  7. I wasn't specific when I said no difference makers, I was referring to the free agent signings   ( avery-justice-mcglynn-redding-satele-zbikowski) who were all starters and for the most part solid contributers , along with an endless supply of backup players, but other than freemen, weren't players who really stood out. it wasn't a knock against Grigson, it was just a statement.

As  I mentioned, the players signed all have that potential.....and on paper, seem like quality players, but until they show it, it's still..................potential.thanks for the impressive input

  8. I agree, many fans wanted the perfect season, that would have been sweet!! I still think the goal is to win championships, not set records, its really easy to be an armchair QB and say i would've..............when you don't have to answer for it, if something happened, still amazes me how many Colts fans critisize him!!??

Grigson had some very big shoes to fill, and has done quite well, so far, but it will take years of watching, to really know how good he is,.....
