  1. I hope your trip was a good one KK (since it was the last time you will ever watch a Colts game in person ;-)

Reality is it really doesn't matter what the record is or if we make the playoffs, if we don't get the problems fixed, which at this time appear to be many......it will be a token appearance....building a monster? what we have seen built so far in these 4 years, does not resemble a monster, just like during the Manning era, when you have an elite QB, it masks many issues, because he allows you to win games and we all when you are winning, all is right.....the system is not working, the leaders are not leading, the players are not performing, there is turmoil, unfilled expectations, etc...etc....etc.....everybody wants a playoff season, but 1 and done does nobody any good, this team needs to be built for sustained sucess, year after year and have a realistic chance to go to and win and Super Bowl, there is a lot that needs to be done, before than can become a reality and as I  have mentioned, not real confident the guys we have in place at this time can pull that off

  2. I try to give Grigson the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard, he has made some great moves, he has made some really bad moves and no G.M. is always right, but after seeing the O-line look so bad after year #4 and seeing Luck get beat up for years, it has become clear that he does not have what it takes and as I mentioned, it really does look like this team has the leaders in place to take this team where it wants to go and if there are changes, then you have an adjustment period, which is a setback, not sure the coordinaters are good enough and to change them, would lead to the same thing. Don't have many answers right now, just going to have to see how this plays out

  3. I hear you and appreciate honest opinions, everybody wants answers and tries to find reasons for what happens and sometimes...make excuses. I just try to give my honest opinion on how I see it...good or bad. The reality is we played like crap in all 3 phases, won't be the first or last time that happens. There does appear to more issues, after that performance that many thought, including myself. But I have also seen that happen, every year and the only thing that really matters, is where we stand, after week #16, not week #1. As bad as it looks now, it does not look as promising as we had hoped, but it can change.....we hope it does.

Fyi- My screen name comes from the Bert Jones era, my fav era of Colts football and my fav player-ever, your sack pack was a big part of that sucess..( it all starts up front!)

  4. Thanks #19, Like I said it's 1 game and it happens, I guess the fact that is was the first game and looked so bad that magnifies it, this team will still have a good year, but as far as the Super bowl, it does appear as a long shot at this time, but there is plenty of time to get better , everybody was looking at this year as the year the team finally got over that hump and then laid an egg, I think Luck was the biggest shocker of all, he just did not look good at all

It was great seeing you and everybody at camp, had a great time

    Have a good one DaddyJ

  5. It appears that the coaching isn't that good, that would explain why the team didn't look prepared to play, but I really donlt buy into that. Pagano is a football life, it's  who he is, so again, I really can't explain it, other than , it happens, every year, to every team.

I agree on those points, Grigson has made some bad moves, but on the flipside, he got Davis (where would this defense be without him) Adams and Jackson (pro bowls their first year here) Freeman (who is solid, I really thought he was on his way to stardom-hasn't happened) Walden,Redding who have all panned out. His first draft was record setting (Luck-Allen-Fleener-Ballard), so he has done many good things, the problem is he has made too many bad moves, that's why i felt that although he has done good, good isnlt good enough, he has to be very good, one of the best

  6. I have to disagree on the talent level on this team, Luck, Hilton, Mathis,Jackson, Davis,Adams, McAfee, Snow and Adam have all been to the pro bowl within the past few years and the TE duo of Allen and Fleener is prob the best in the league.....the are other solid players.....Gore, Castonzo, Walden, Langford and some good looking younger players....Moncreif,Mewhort,Robinson,Varga, Anderson,Parry, I really like Pagano, Grigson has not been as good as needed, he is good, but for this team to get where it wants to go, he needs to be better than ....just good, Hamilton and Manusky seem to be decent. Part of the problem is the yearly overlooking of the 2 lines, which is critical to winning in crunch time and in the postseason, which can make the rest of the talent irrevelant. some of it is just plain bad luck....losing guys like Jones, Cherilus, Thomas to injuries didn't help and guys like Chapman, Hughes, Thortan,Holmes who all had high celings that didn't  pan out. This is a talented team , with good enough coaching and leadership to get it done and have the best young QB in the NFL, some what's missing? Not sure I have an answer for that...as it stands now, this team is going to have a sucessfull year , how far they go, is yet to be seen, how the future of the era unfolds during the Luck era remains to be seen. It is 1 game, we have seen games like that many times over the years that defy logic, it happens and every year, teams look dominant, at times and lackluster at times, if you are playing your best football in the December and make it to the playiffs, anything can and will happen. The bottom line is that should have never happened (on paper) but it did, that is going to make many people take notice............how they respond will be very telling.

  7. I think if you have really strong lines, you can get away with lesser talent at other positions, it appears  our management has been using the oppisite approach....it's a well known and documented cliche-it all starts up front and could possibly be one of the main reasons, we seem to almost always come up short

  8. Thanks, Carter is 6'5-211, has 1st round measurables and potential, potential doesn't always lead to production, but as I said, guys with his measurables are hard to find and he had produced-in camp and was a star in the CFL, all of that doesn't add up to being cut, in my opinion, but he was not picked up by anybody and is back on the team-on the practice squad, there is hope that he will fullfill the hype. There are always guys cut who have something to offer, some more than others, so who was kept (over him) has to be factored into the equation as well

  9. demanding aren't you lol

As I said the #1 pick is key and can really upgrade a team, the DT and the S that were there would have, stopping the run is probably priority #1 and we went WR? #2 and #3 should be key contributors as well and then some quality depth with the later picks, anything else is a bonus.......I rated all the teams drafts yesterday and gave the Colts the 2nd lowest grade, as always time, will tell... to be fair, got sometimes the players that get picked don't always look good-but what matters is how they produce......This was year#1 for Grigson to really step up and as of now it appears.....he didn't

  10. I think what is overlooked by the many players we have added, are the players we have lost.....Landry, Brown, Howell,Gordy,A. Jackson, McNary (?),Redding,Jean-Francois,Moala,Shipley,Bradshaw,Richardson,Wayne,Nicks and  (possibly) Freeman ,some needed to go, some were marginal, but that is still alot of holes to fill..........in 1 off season

  11. the o-line issues are really getting old, its not like they arent trying to improve, getting cherilous and thomas, who hasnt played for 2 years and drafting holmes, mewhart, thortan, but its not enough, this is a pretty solid team, other than that problem area, they need to really focus on the line, until they get it right, even if that means drafting, nothing but...linemen, luck is lucky to still be standing, no pun intended, he takes a beating back there and he is the franchise, that needs to change!!

as far as reggie, i heard after the game, pagano saying he isnt healthy, if he isnt healthy, like it or not, he needs to be sitting and  watching and getting healthy, we are loaded with weapons on the offense, there is no reason for him to be in there, if he isnt 100%

  12. Hi #19, yes, it has, great to hear from you and glad you and Kat are doing great

I know, I miss being there and seeing everyone, it has been a loooooong time.

    Thanks buddy.......

Landry has been a dissapointment, but I really feel he will be right back in there, when healthy, Brown has played very good, but unless he is outplaying Landry-bigtime, they are gonna put the money makers in there

We will always have a shot with Luck, just like we always had a shot with Peyton, the bottom line is how much talent he is surrounded with, going forward....It's going to be very hard to get past the broncos and their QB, but as Berman says.....thats why they play the game and stranger things have happened

One thing we have going in our favor, is there are no dynasties to compete with, Peytons whole career, he had to deal with Brady and the *s (one of the best teams in league history)  and that cost him some super bowl  appearances and rings, as of now and I know the landscape can change dramatically from year to year, all of the best teams for the next-near future are all in the NFC

  13. I can't really make a strong against that and have actually had the same thought, Landry is only 1 full year removed from a pro bowl and he can be a difference maker, problem is, since we signed him, that hasnt been the case, Brown has looked good filling in and I do agree, is better vs the pass, I thought last year, Landry was held back by the injuries and was hoping he would be a different player this year and although he has played better, he is not playing at that pro bowl level

  14. the school of thought is when you draft a franchise QB, you surround him with playmakers, first and foremost-then try to piece a team around them, in the salary cap era, every signing, is critical, if you spend big money on a player, for several years and he doesnt pan out-you are behind the eight ball- grigson has been trying to get those players on defense- now-while he has the money to do it, when Luck and the other younger players get real contracts and not the rookie contracts they are currently playing under, that extra money isnt going to be there, plus changing the defensive scheme, means getting a different type of player, there are are alot of factors-there is only so much money and those who can figure out how to make that work are the ones who are successfull, year after year, every team is going to have holes, or weaknesses- drafting is really the key, if you can get quality players, every year who arent making much, that makes up for those who get the  big bucks and the team can still be a winner

  15. when he came out, he was considered elite, as in ,one of the best in the NFL and maybe even, the best of an era...he was that highly rated, I know the O-line is part of it, yet Brown and the other backs had success with the same group and I know he came in without camp, etc but this isn't exactly rocket science...hard to figure really, I guess if he eventually shows up, that's great, if he is nothing more than a decent back.................the trade is a HUGE bust!
