  1. No 5th year. Instead get to work on a three year extension. $33 m with $22 m guaranteed sound fair?
  2. This IS good news. But of course, the CIB has to spring for it. Far be it for the Colts to get this done themselves for the players. Sour grapes, maybe, but the contract the Colts have for LOS is so lopsided in their favor and against the taxpayers that it borders on the absurd. It’s the way the city decided it had to go to keep the Colts in town, but what a sweetheart deal for Jim Irsay. Just a bit of griping here, but I am glad that the turf will be safer for the players.
  3. I agree with that take, but it’s truly rolling the dice. They need a FS and there is a solid one out there in Simmons. Cross may turn out to be a good player, but he wasn’t the answer last year, and you hate to think the Colts will rely on him at this most critical position on the D. A decent one year deal for Simmons would make sense with a team option in year 2. It gives them some flexibility now with no further commitment. Hope it happens.
  4. Curious to hear what the Board believes Justin Simmons’ likely paycheck will be. He’s the FS that can truly make the secondary better. Can he be had for $8-9 m/ yr on a fully guaranteed 2 yr deal?
  5. I love this draft, but 2018 will be tough to beat. Q; Leonard; Smith; Franklin and Lewis. That’s a wagon full of talent from one draft. Not to mention Hines.
  6. My guess…. the guy the Colts may want and who will be available is Edgerrin Cooper.
  7. Gutsy pick by Ballard. But they need pass rush. They just got the best one in the draft.
  8. I think you’re right. And the Jets also need Oline help. Wouldn’t shock me to see Bowers fall to the Colts at all. And I think they have to grab him if he’s there. Take Bowers and you can still get a CB, WR, and LB in the next few rounds.
  9. Not at that price and with that injury history. Hard pass.
  10. Maybe people assumed that because of his serious addiction problems in the past and the fact that he was found unresponsive at 4:30 am. Or because the police report said it was a suspected overdose? I’m not trying to pile on Jim Irsay. I truly hope he’s over his drug issues. I applaud anyone who has overcome addiction. But it’s understandable that people would make assumptions based upon how his latest mishap played out.
  11. Don’t sleep on Roman Wilson if the Colts don’t choose a WR in the first round. He has serious talent.
  12. He won’t trade out of the first round. If he trades back, the first pick will still be high enough to get a first round talent.
  13. That’s where I’d go too. But I do think Mitchell goes higher than you see in many mocks. He’s a serious talent and has an almost perfect RAS, so you know Ballard has taken a close look. If he trades back, it’s because he believes he can still get a top talent. In that case, Mitchell would be my prediction.
  14. MHJ is special. If there was a pass rushing DE who was at the same level, I'd take the DE. But that guy isn't in this draft; the Colts are set at OT and DT for the moment, and MHJ would be a game changer for the Colts offense. So I'm taking MHJ all day in this draft if I had the chance.
