Each week PFF has some headscratching scores, but this week there are several. The pass rushing scores especially. Except for 2-3 plays, seems like Carr had all day to throw.
Seriously, I thought the nfl says after the fact when they missed calls? Or am I thinking of the nba. I know some one does. Not that it helps us of course.
I wonder how much longer Bert Jones career might have lasted if he had modern technology at hand for his op.
Everytime I see shoulder injury, I can't help but think about him. Career cut short imo.
I'm glad no one is calling for Steichen to be fired. That will come later.
I'm not surprised the Frank Reich hate is still so strong. Once a whipping boy, always a whipping boy.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. He was already going down awkwardly and it looked like he was stuck between two mind sets. How ironic if that was the case.
Honestly, I thought Minshew gave us a better chance to win now, but AR is better than I thought, so I'd stick with him as the starter.
But depending on the game and if he's struggling, I'd pull him and go with Minshew to finish the particular game. Contender is a possibility with this team. I wouldn't want to risk a win to get AR experience.
In a worse case scenario, if things go sideways and he gets released, the cap hit would be the 26 million guaranteed money or is it the whole 42 million?
About what I expected. He wasn't going to say I hate the Colts and am doing this so I can be paid, or my agent is an * and I'm thinking of firing him. He managed the media perfectly.
Putting my former journalism hat on, the questions were asked in a way that were easy to dodge. You have to ask a question in a way that makes a dodge trickier, or that the dodge itself might give a clue. They should have asked him:
1. Are you more prone to injuring this ankle again?
2. Did the docs tell you why it took so long to heal?
3. Could you see yourself playing for another team next year?
4. Could you see yourself playing for the Colts next year?
5. Have you spoken to Chris or Jim in the past week or two?
Still, he wasn't sullen or grouchy. He seemed genuinely excited. I took that as a positive.
Yes, you scheme around what your players can do now. Who knows what it will look like later, but if Steichen was trying to use AR like Stroud today, I think it would hamper his progress and wouldn't utilize what he does well now.
Iirc, the majority of this board was hoping Stroud would fall to us and also that AR was the least favored one, even below Levis.
I would still pick Stroud today and my magic ball still favors him to be the better QB when all is said and done.
But AR is showing signs that he could be a really good one as well and I'm feeling much better about him today then when we picked him.
Strange how it seems every year, fans need someone to beat up on. And after two whole games, it seems this year's selection is Pierce. Too bad the Oline is playing well. One of them would have probably edged him out.
If Pierce is still getting so few looks as the season goes on, I'll be right there with you. But until AR grows, the guy who's supposed to get his plays more down the field won't get as much of an opportunity as guys who run short crosses and slants.
