  1. Booger and Rob Morris were two huge reasons we won that sb. Morris went into that phone booth and changed from Clark Kent to superman. Not sure what finally clicked for him, but glad it did.
  2. Designing a play is just a part of his job though. In that sense, he did a great job. But who to use in certain situations are also part of his job. That is what I question.
  3. So basically, he said the plan was to sneak him open because nobody thought he'd be thrown the ball? But JT would have been covered since he's JT? Got to think about that. Either he's a genius (because the guy was wide open) or he out thought himself. Interesting though.
  4. Honestly, I would be a bit disappointed in Steichen if after some time has passed, he still thought it was the right decision. But I think he will learn and grow from this. Next time, I think he will give more weight to the situation at hand rather them just going by what the book says (even if it's his book). That's called in-game adjustments. Had this been a different situation, different point in the game, an earlier game maybe, or if the kid had run this play more often, it would be a different story. But imo, he shouldnt have been put in that situation.
  5. Steichen said that? That if JT was in the game, he wouldn't have been open?
  6. I think the loss of Rogers and Flowers (possibly Rush not panning out) changed up a lot of Gus's thinking on D. Not that I'm a fan of it. I am a big fan of Brents though.
  7. Hmmm....interesting and it might explain a lot. By the eye test, I always felt that the Colts weren't as good a pass rushing team as the sack numbers indicated but couldn't quite put my finger on it.
  8. Got to be honest. I'm one of them.
  9. I'm just wondering though why now all of a sudden as opposed to waiting all this time. They kept raving about cross and getting him more time. Thought they would have broken him in much sooner then evolved this drastic drop.
  10. This I don't really understand. How can you fall off a cliff like that. It's not as if Cross wasn't on the team or Harrison till now. Or has his play dropped off that much in the last few weeks? Strange.
  11. I just hope his agent doesn't fill his head with delusions of grandeur. I'd like him back.
  12. It's the only game at that time, so should be a national game?

    Alec Pierce

Honestly, if Pickens was told to play the Pierce role, he'd have been suspended at least once this year knowing how Steichen operates. Jmo.

    Alec Pierce

The most amazing thing to me is that Pierce hasn't complained once about the way he's used. Keeps his mouth shut, runs his routes (though it must be discouraging to know you probably won't smell the ball) and block (where he does an outstanding job). I've said this before, but give him mpj role and see the kind of numbers he puts up (and vice-versa).

I heard that as well. In effect he's the sacrificial lamb to allow Minshew to play his game of fairly safe short and intermediate throws. He should be given his props instead of the scorn he gets.

At least a few times a game they need to design deep plays for Pierce and Minshew needs to commit to them, not always looking at 5-7 yard curls because he's worried about the rush.
  17. I agree. Violent or deviant behavior (granted that is subjective) is what I have a real problem with. Peds, gambling, getting drunk, smoking weed all fall under the knucklehead category imo. Certainly bad, especially since your hurting your team, but living in the world we do, you have to expect it to happen at times no matter how careful you are picking players.
  18. As long as your not one of those fans who criticised him for taking too many nice guys and are now criticizing him because he may not have, then that's fine. My point is the hypocrisy of some fans is absurd and irritating.
  19. So you think he purposely doesn't take character as seriously now as opposed to a few years ago? Or is your problem with cb due to the players not having a high enough ceilings to warrant the risk?
  20. He's been fired twice and is no longer in football and he's still the whipping boy of many frustrated fans here. Always need someone to hate on. I remember Ballard (and Reich) were criticized by many for taking character too seriously. "They take too many nice guys." Now that some players have gotten into trouble he's getting blamed for that. Takes too many nice guys...takes too many bad guys. Sad is thing probably a lot of the same fans are blaming him for both.
  21. Weren't some here criticizing the team for worrying about a guy's character too much and that was hurting the team by depleting the potential talent pool? Or was that just more Ballard bashing at the time?
  22. Q's PFF numbers are puzzling. Of course he used to grade out much higher. Given that, he should be grading out even higher now since he has Raimann and Kelly on either side playing well. So either PFF is using different methods to grade players or someone's been assigned to Q that is crazy critical. The other is that our fondness of him has blinded us a bit and he's playing just like he's graded. Which is good, nothing great. The eye test tells me he playing better than his grade but I admit I'm a huge Q fan.
