  1. Taylor is playing his way into shape. Taylor is not yet at mid-season form. He’ll eventually get there. But even at non-elite, Taylor is special.
  2. It’ll be interesting to see if the Colts want to go that high for Minshew? I’m not sure they want to go that high for any QB2, maybe not even Minshew. The rest seem roughly about right.
  3. Im not surprised this happened today. I read last night that the owner, Pepper, stormed out of the locker room after the game loudly and slamming doors. I think the writing was on the wall when that happens. I just want them to pay Frank his money. That’s all I care about at this point.
  4. What’s the famous quote from former coach Jerry Glanville? The NFL stands for NOT FOR LONG if you’re not winning! I don’t know if Frank retires or tries to be an OC, but even that may not happen. I’m sure his reputation has taken a beating these last two years, especially this one.
  5. I think Frank is the fall guy for a very bad and meddlesome owner. But hopefully, the Panthers don’t mess with his money.
  6. I think I’d like another bite at the Zack Moss apple. I’ve had a chance you’re-think it and I now think we’d offer Moss much more than 2/10 or 3/15. The Colts paid Hines 3/18.6 to be their RB2. If the Colts can pay that to Hines, they can absolutely pay that and maybe more to Moss. Because Moss is much closer to a RB1, and if Taylor goes down for any reason, you’d want Moss stepping in. So I can see something closer to 3/20 or even 4/26 for Moss. It all depends does Moss want to stay or does Moss want to Max out his second contract? Thats an unknown. One thing to emphasize, the salary cap is about to go way way up due to (A) new and huge TV and Streaming money coming in and I think also an adjustment agreed to during the Covid years. The cap actually went down in 20 and 21 and I think there will be an adjustment back up if memory serves me. I now think the Colts might be much more aggressive trying to retain Moss.
  7. You make very good points, especially about the guarantees. But I think the only way the Colts give him that is if Steichen sees Pitt as WR1. But if he sees him as WR2, then I think the Colts will likely lose Pitt.
  8. I think 4/24 IS possible. I’m just not sure it comes from the Colts. Maybe. If the Colts can get him to sign BEFORE free agency I think they’ve got a shot at getting a bit of a discount. (2/10-3/15) But I think if the Colts can’t sign him and he gets to free agency, then I think your 4/24 is very likely, but I’d guess it’s from another team. Hard to know. I assume you know Spotrac also projects Pittman to get 4/94. $23.5m per. I think if that happens, I don’t think that number comes from the Colts, I think we’d let him walk.
  9. Chad? Spotrac predicts 2 years and $9.2m. I guessed 2 years and 10-11 mill. I rounded up a little. Where did you see 4/24 as “more in line”? For what it’s worth…. Spotrac is not the only website that will do projections. PFF will also do them as well. By the way, I think 4/24 for Moss is possible. But if Moss gets that I think it might come from another franchise. I’m not sure the Colts want to go that much on Moss?
  10. Yup…. Could easily see the Colts finishing out if the playoffs but picking 16th or 17th. The Colts are currently 7th in the AFC, so they actually get in the playoffs and pick even later. It’s been a very unique season.
  11. Did you actually READ the thread? No one is debating one vs the other. No one is saying Moss is as good as Taylor. They’re discussing the relative value of each. Thats all.
  12. There’s very good reason the owner overpays. Both Irsay and Ballard have been very open about this. Indianapolis is just not a destination location for the vast majority of free agents. So if the Colts are not going to attract those players then the Colts have to keep the best players they get. Show them that if they play hard the Colts will reward them. It’s been the plan since 2017.
  13. I think that’s about right. I think Moss will get roughly 2 years for $10-11 mill total. But I think to sign with the Colts, that number would be a bit of a hometown discount. Because if Moss doesn’t sign with the Colts in Jan or Feb to that number then he may end up signing with another team who may value Moss even more and sign him to an even bigger deal.
  14. Sorry, you lost me. JT is now getting $14m per. You think he’s going to get $12m per MORE than Moss? Moss is going to get much more than $2m per. He’ll get offered more by the Colts, and possibly more from other teams in FA. One way or another, Moss will get PAID this off-season. He deserves it. Have I somehow misunderstood your meaning?
  15. Don’t forget Dulin who is injured. But he’s two pieces…. A WR plus a special teams ace. Dulin has value.
  16. Pickens has been a major Diva. He’s super talented, but has major character issues. There’s good reason why a WR with first round talent fell to pick 52.
  17. This is off the top of my head…. So I might be off a bit or I might leave someone out. Not all QB’s are future HoF, but this shows how hard it is to win two SBs. Brett Favre, one Super Bowl. Won Aaron Rogers, one Super Bowl. Won Ben Roethlisberger, two SB wins, including one when he was young and did almost nothing but hand the ball to Jerome Bettis Kurt Warner, two SB, won one early in his career, lost one late in his career Steve Young, one SB. Won Russell Wilson, two SBs with a Hall of Fame HC and one of the top-5 defenses of alltime. Won one. My point is that winning two SBs is HARD. Heck, in some cases just getting to two SBs is hard. Trying to play down all the great achievements of Polian because the Colts didn’t win two is a HORRIBLE take based only on your opinion. More to come about Polian, but likely NOT tonight.
  18. How did we get on to Jack Doyle? Either way, you’re wrong about Doyle. Check out his stats for 4 straight years. 16-19. He was a favorite target for both Luck and Brissett. Never part of the game plan? False. 59 catches in 16, 80 catches in 17, 26 catches in just 6 games before injury in 18, and 43 catches in 19. So for four years he was a major part of the game plan. You simply don’t know how to make an honest argument. Check!
  19. I double checked the colts stats. Turns out I’m slightly off. Pierce had the third most catches, not Mallory. Pierce had 4 catches but for only just under 30 yards. Basically short stuff. He was just behind Pitt and Downs who had more receptions, but also shorter yardage. That’s just what the Colts ran. But Pierce was involved. But nothing deep.
  20. Here we go again. Have you noticed that with Minshew the Colts don’t throw that deep? The Colts throw short and medium. That’s all the opportunities any of the receivers get. Today most of the throws went to Pittman, Downs and Mallory.
  21. Nit sure there were actual clips? Might’ve been? I was watching and suddenly there was Shaq and his family in a suite and crowd reaction shots. There might’ve been more…. Not sure. Either way, so glad the Colts did this.
  22. Very pleased to see that the Colts acknowledged Shaq at the game. He and his family were in a suite and the cameras found him. Looked like a standing ovation from the crowd. Nice to see that happen. Richly deserved.
  23. @Smoke317 I don’t know what is sad? Peyton is living the good life. You should be happy for him. I don’t think he wants any part of the life of a GM. That life is grueling. It’s 24/7/365. You’ve got to be wired differently to want that life. It’s not for everyone. Peyton can be with his wife and kids and do the Mannjng-cast on ESPN and funny commercials. Peyton has the best of everything in the life he now has. Again, be happy for him.
  24. Irsay has been clean and sober for roughly a decade. Your unhappiness with him stems from not agreeing with the direction of the team. The team has been trying to win in the window they had. Hardly a bad thing. Now the Colts have created a new window around Richardson. If he does good, everyone should be happy. And if not, Ballard will be shown the door.
  25. The rope that Ballard has been given, do you know who it comes from? His name is Jim Irsay. The same him Irsay who fired Ryan Grigson who had a far superior record (49-31) and had 3 years left on his contract. But Irsay called Ballard the best GM in football as recent as Sept of 22. Before he became the owner of the Colts, Irsay was the GM of the Colts. He’s got an idea of how the job should be run.
