  1. I don’t think Chicago would trade Fields for this package. I’d be curious what Steichen thinks of him.
  2. Chicago is openly talking about leaving Soldier Field soon and building a domed stadium in the suburbs. I take his comment in that context. That he’d love to play in a dome for Chicago and not play for some other team.
  3. Honestly, I’m not sure Chicago would do a deal for Fields for only the 4. I think they’d want tge 4 this year and something good next year as well. Perhaps tge Colts 1 or 2 in 24. As to whether I’d do it? Honestly I’m not sure.
  4. How did the Eagles get the best of Ballard over Sirianni? The Colts were not going to block Nick from a promotion to HC.
  5. Bubba didn’t make the decision about how much Hines was used on ST by himself. He works with the head coach and the GM. Those kind of decisions are collaborative. And the likely reason for not using him more is that the more he’d be used in STs the greater the probability of getting hurt. And the team didn’t want a key situational player taking an increased chance of getting hurt. We had Rogers and Flowers to return kicks and they both were good. By the way, the 2022 Colts STs were ranked tied for 4th. And that was with more turnover than they’ve had since roughly 2018. Bubba really is very good at his job. I hope if he doesn’t get the HC job, that the Colts find a way to keep him.
  6. The reason this forum thinks our ST coach is so great is because, well, he is. The Colts are typically top-5-ish in the league for ST. And this year, the Colts are again highly ranked WITHOUT our starting kicker and punter.
  7. I’m happy for Hines, but he has done almost nothing before today. Literally, almost nothing. Plus, Moss has been a very good RB for the Colts. He’s a good fit for our offense. He runs hard, he’s not afraid of contact, he can break tackles. And he’s got another year on his contract which is about 1/4 of Hines. The deal is much better than most here thought the day the Colts made it.
  8. It’s hard to reason with people who think 2+2=4 is an opinion question and not a factual question.
  9. Well…. I’m confident I know English, but even I can’t make heads or tails what the heck that was?!? And I have my super secret media de-coder ring! I’ll take the hit on that one and give myself an I earned that.
  10. Ok…. Now you’ve decided not to be honest. You stated the defense is top-5. You summed up your post by asking if Ballard should be fired. If the defense is very good then the natural inference is you’re not happy with the offense. Period. That’s how the English language works. You can lie to yourself all you want. But if lie to others like me, then expect to get called on it. Period.
  11. You said the Colts were running the same offense. You stated it as a bad thing.
  12. You were expecting a new offense? A new playbook? When you can’t pass block and struggle to run block it doesn’t matter what offense you run.
  13. According to everyone. This year, before today, the Colts ST operating with backup kicker and ounter are ranked 9th by PFF. Bubba gets raves from Ballard and Frank. And you said it yourself, you’ve been hearing about Bubba for years. There’s a good reason for that. He’s very good at his job.
  14. Huh? I hope you’ve had a few beers to say that?!? Bubba is terrific. It’s a shame you don’t know it.
  15. You can’t stop this Colts offense! You can only hope to contain us!!
  16. He may not have to sign off, but he’s on board. Again, he just a few months ago called Chris Ballard the best GM in the business. At the very least he’s in agreement with how Ballard thinks and does his business. You and others here are projecting.. YOU’RE tired of the Ballard approach therefor Irsay must be tired of the Ballard approach. All of Irsay’s public comments about Ballard couldn’t be any more positive. By the way, you’re going to have to provide a link to the Stafford story about he and his wife shopping for homes in Indy. The Rams offered two 1’s PLUS Jared Goff. Detroits new GM had just come the Rams where he helped draft Goff. How were the Colts supposed to outbid the Rams offer? We were not going to offer 3 firsts. Oh, and don’t look now, Stafford had elbow surgery on his throwing arm this summer and so far, he looks terrible. Remember, everything is obvious in hindsight.
  17. The band aid quarterbacks is highly likely come directly from Irsay. He’s a former GM. He knows how rare it is to find a great quarterback in the draft. He knows it’s much more likely to miss than hit. Even now, people are talking about Tua like he’s a success. That’s false. He hasn’t shown much in his first two years. He had a couple of great games in Y3 and people are calling him great. Then he gets badly hurt in games 3 and 4. Injuries have always been an issue for Tua. And people are ignoring that in their attempt to build a case against Ballard. Ballard works with Irsay. Now you’re writing Irsay is going to fire Ballard for doing what they’ve been agreeing to all along. My hunch is if Irsay fires Ballard it’ll be over (A) Frank, and (B) Irsay wants to change the approach and Ballard is reluctant. If they’re not in the same page then Ballard would get fired. People are projecting. They don’t like Ballard’s approach so they assume Irsay must agree with the fans. Fans think they know enough as Irsay and come to the same conclusion. I’m not defending Ballard. I’m saying the idea that Ursay and Ballard haven’t been in the same page is false. Irsay called Ballard the best GM in the business THIS off-season. It’s hard to fire that guy unless there’s a new fallout, which might happen. I’ve said repeatedly, Ballard’s future here is 50-50.
  18. Im not ready to fire Ballard, if that’s what you’re asking. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what I want. I’ve already stated publicly that I can see Frank getting fired before the season is over, potentially as soon as Friday if we lose to Denver. And I’ve said Ballard’s chances to survive are not better than 50-50. The team is badly under achieving, so predicting what Irsay might do is hard to predict.
  19. You went back and searched and found this? From March? Today? What point do you think you’re making? Take a look on the draft/free agent page and you see a post showing the Jags have spent the most money in free agency for the last 10 years. $1.4 BILLION! Billion with a B. And what has that bought them? Our problems are a little more complicated than what we spend in the first week of free agency.
  20. Irsay has been pretty clear and direct. He thinks Ryan has 3-4 good years left. Do I think the odds of using a first round pick in a QB who might not start until year 3-4 of his rookie contract is extremely unlikely. We are in a Matt Ryan window, and using a first round pick on a player who will not help MR is a very long shot. And a reminder, there are already FOUR teams who have TWO first round picks in 2023. And two of them, Seattle and Detroit, are in the market for a QB. We will not be able to out-bid them. I don’t see us going after a QB until 24 at the earliest. And yes, I know this view will be very, very unpopular.
  21. Where I’m watching there is no audio. Is there any word on Pryor? Raimann is back in.
  22. It tells me the same fans who panic and over-react are doing it again. Thanks for asking.
  23. We’re 37-28. Not counting the 2017 season when Ballard didn’t have his QB, his HC, his coaching staff, the systems he wants run, or his front office setup. Look what happened in 2018 when he had all that in place: 4-12 became 10-6 and a playoff win in one season’s time. That’s why Irsay has extended Ballard as he did. As to acquiring a young franchise quarterback, I’ll address that in another post later tonight. But I don’t think you’ll agree with the known facts.
