  1. Ed Reed's pick of Peyton should be up there.. Can't remember what game but he lined up on the weakside and then right after the snap, turned (back towards QB) and ran to the MOF.. Peyton read that and almost right away threw it to the weakside WR (Wayne, iirc) running the go-route. Reed had anticipated that and without looking had ran back to the weakside and picked off Peyton.

    Atlanta Falcons:

Round 1.26: Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama (NFL comparison Lawrence Timmons)

Round 2.58: Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State (NFL comparison Jimmy Graham)

Round 3.90: Tim Settle, DT, Virginia Tech (NFL comparison Vince Wilfork)

Round 4.126: Antonio Callaway, WR, Florida (My comparison is Tyreek Hill)

Pairing Rashaad Evans with current Falcons LB star Deion Jones would instantly upgrade their LB corp so that they are not waiting for the emergence of their former rookie (now 2nd year player) Duke Riley who had been more miss than hit.

Falcons had not had a viable threat at TE since Tony Gonzalez left, Austin Hooper does not scare anyone at all, and with Julio and Sanu on the outside and having lost Taylor Gabriel in the slot, they needed someone with good hands for the seam routes. Mike Gesicki is that guy, has all the traits like a Jimmy Graham and if he improves his blocking, could end up like Gronk, he has a great ceiling.

With the departure of Dontari Poe and Adrian Clayborn, they needed someone in the middle light enough on his feet but also make plays vs the run and pass. Tim Settle seems like a natural fit for that.

Last but not least, had to wait till day 3 of the draft to take a chance on a guy with questionable character. With enough veterans on the Falcons squad, feel like Antonio Callaway will be in check and this was a chance taken with huge upside, much bigger upside than what Taylor Gabriel gave them, IMO.

I felt that lots of talent was indeed added to the Falcons squad and a lot of their issues last year were offensive woes. :)

I like the players you picked (on vacuum) but I don't think you addressed the Falcons needs very well.. But even from value perspective, I don't think Evans in the 1st makes that much sense. They have Devondre Campbell who is good and either him or Evans (probably the latter next year) would be the 3rd LB and the Falcons usually play nickel a lot like the most of the league, meaning the 3rd LB would sit on the bench on most defensive snaps. LB (along with CB, OT, QB) was Falcons best *ition already. Campbell and Deion are under contract for 2 more years.

Gesicki pick makes sense in many ways, my TE #1.

But DT and OG are the biggest issues on Falcons roster. They still have Levitre but has shown decline already and they don't much on the other side. They have no NFL caliber DT besides Jarrett, savefor Shelby and Crawford but they are on the small end and more of a DE/DT hybrids and are basically JAGs. If even that. I like Settle but thought it was interesting to wait until the 3rd to address it and use only one pick on DT.

I don't mean to pick on you, like I said, I think the players you picked are good but were not the best value for your team (save for Gesicki) or didn't address the needs very well. I thought that stood out compared to others.

Well, a lot of people don't like the trade. Oakland is still somewhat rebuilding, and they can get a linebacker with one of our early 2nds if we do the trade with them and have additional ammo to rebuild themselves. Gives Gruden picks to build the team in his image. We'll see what happens, but I wouldn't put it past Ballard to go after his guys. I think everyone is thinking he'll get extra picks, he may go the opposite and get his exact guys.

Getting an extra second and 4th is pretty bad value for dropping from top 10 to early second. Getting more picks for a rebuilding team makes sene but giving up a top 10 pick for couple of 2nds and a 4th is not what rebuilding or any team should do. It's pretty unprecented in terms of recent NFL history too.

I don't think he'll last to round 6.  He's not one of those guys who will light up the stat box, but he's got plus route running ability, good (not great) hands, and he knows how to get open.  He will be a solid #2 type of receiver, or at least that's his ceiling, but he's got a good chance to stick on a roster because his transition to the NFL has a clearer path, even if you shouldn't expect him to be much more than a 5-7 receptions 75 yards a game when he's at his best.

75 yards per game... is a lot. 1200 in a full season. Less than 10 receivers averaged more than 75 yds per game last year. He probably won't get to that or even close and I'm a fan of the kid.

One last question from me. Anyone besides me like DaeSean Hamilton? He is a WR on Penn State. One scout thinks he will go undrafted.   I'd like my team to select him. He is a high character guy. He played well at the Senior Bowl. The Vikes have 3 sixth round picks. If he is still therein the 6th, I want us to draft him.

Highly unlikely he's there at 6th round unless he really lacks drive.. one of the best route runners in the class.

    great points

He averaged 2 yards a carry against Ohio State

Adrian Peterson was a MUCH better prospect than Barkley.... Zeke Elliot was a much better prospect (IMHO)........  Barkley has a chance to be really realy good, but I think that he isnt as good as the press he is getting

AP was much better pure runner and by far the best RB prospect of the past decade+.

However, Barkley could be more valuable in todays game due to his receiving skills which were almost non-existent with AP.

most mocks have them needing a DE, so I'd take Key.

They do have Ansah, Zettel and Hyder there.. not ideal group due to various reasons but DT is a bigger need. If Patricia is anything like BB, he'd value the interior more too.

Sly Williams has been more or less a JAG throughout his career. Doesn't change much.

I'd give them Payne to pair up with A'shawn Robinson. Ozzie Newsome would be jealous.

    OT makes zero sense.
