Possibly depending on how this RB class shakes out. With Anderson injured, I’m not sure how excited I am about this upcoming class. However, Howard isn’t having a great season so that is cause for hesitation for me.

FWIW, PFF ranks Howard as #5 RB this year. I guess they are blaming poor run blocking for his lack of rushing success.

Not saying Rodgers didn't deserve it in 2014 but Luck had 4761 Yards and 40 TD's in 2014 and his team went 11-5. Not much difference at all between the 2 in 2014. Luck actually had more Yards and TD's and only won 1 game less. IMO Luck had a strong argument for MVP in 2014. Luck's numbers in 2014 are almost identical to Matt Ryan's in 2016 when the Falcons went 11-5 and he won MVP. The media does overlook us a bit, JMO.

I recall Luck being in the MVP conversation in 2014 but Rodgers had only 5 picks that year (of which 3 were receivers fault IIRC) and Luck had 16. MVP winning QBs this decade have all had 10 picks or less. Blowout losses to NE and DAL at the end of the year didn't help.

Luck is far more comparable to Rodgers than many think. I think Rodger is better, but it's not a huge gap.

And Luck hasn't had one team that's has comparable talent to what Rodgers has.

Rodgers hasn't had good teams the past couple of years, as shown when he's gone down this year and last year. 4-6 win talent.

Teams he had from 09-14 were very talented though. Though even then they were clearly below 0.500 when he went down in 2013.

Not even close to being true. We've only given up 10 sacks on the year. Nelson has only given up one sack that I can remember when Clowney steam rolled him.

    Didn't Atkins also beat him?

I don't recall him being responsible for others.

What 2019 free agents would you guys like to see in Indianapolis at the start of the 2019 season? The Colts will have roughly around 120 million in cap space and hopefully will be able to sign a few guys who can really take this team to the next level. Here's my list.

    1. Golden Tate III WR - Lions

    2. Rob Havenstein OT - Rams

    3. Geno Atkins - Bengals

    4. Avery Williamson - Jets

    5. Landon Collins - Giants

    6. Rashaan Melvin - Raiders

I know most of these guys are bigger names and will command a good contract so signing multiple guys of this caliber is very unlikely. I would be happy if Ballard was able to sign 1-2 bigger name guys but I guess only time will tell.

Who do you guys want? #Colts

Havenstein and Atkins were extended couple of months ago. Williamson has 2 more years left on his deal, Jets signed him in last March.

I really like Collins but he'll get paid. Not sure if Ballard will put that much resources on safeties. I'm personally for it.

Tate, Cobb, Tyrell Williams, Jamison Crowder and Quincy Enunwa are on my wish list at WR.

I imagine Brady will have a few moments of unhappiness tonight...... they like short passes, but that OL is hot garbage

Scar will make it work, outside of Solder it's the same line as in previous years.. just hopefully it won't happen today, lol.

  7. He mentioned Ebron and Grant by name on his weekly preview so I'd guess one of them. Ebron in the RZ, Grant outside of it. Though his preview focused more on how Colts have well designed offense that attacks all 3 levels of the field and how dangerous Luck is and even needs to be contained in the run game.

I feel like somebody wants me to say something so here goes Brett Favre had 1 INT through his first 4 games.

And that INT was a pick-6 and it was his first pass in an NFL game. Just like Darnold.

The thing with Garcon was he could catch an acrobatic catch while a simple pass that hit him on  the numbers or in his hands he would drop it.  That is one of the reasons he was not resigned here. Maybe it was a concentration problem he had here?

I remember that too and thought he got overpaid by the Redskins and iirc, he wanted to leave. We had already tagged Mathis so we didn't have that option either.

Garcon also seemed to gain toughness over the years.  He made some tough catches in MOF that he didn't do as much with us.

Faulk wanted to leave and we drafted James to take his place.

Garcon wanted big money and didn't earn what he was paid when he left.

Simon?  He was too slow to play the position here in Indy so it was scheme.

Calling money and or scheme fit a red herring shows you are not on the same page as our coaches or the GM.

Agree with Faulk and Simon but Garcon did earn what he got from Redskins. His avg salary was 8.5M per year for 5 years and he was top 15 in receiving Yards from 2012 to 2016. His salary ranking among WRs was about 15th for that period.

Okay, I am by no means any salary guru, but don't you have to use a percentage of the money you've rolled over from previous years?  I thought I remember reading that on here a while back?  I could be VERY wrong, but y'all would know better, so I ask.

The only rule is that teams have to spend 89% of cap in cash over a 4-year period (2017-2020). This is the 2nd year and though we haven't spend much on FAs, we can get to that 89% limit relatively easy even if Ballard continues to be stingy with the money.

I really thought the change of scenery would be great for him.   He just doesn't try very hard.

I believe change of scenery can work for many players (and has.. like Dipo recently) but didn't believe that would be the case with Ebron... Saw the lack of effort too many times from him, especially in blocking, inc. the infamous one.

I'm not sure I'd give New England's D that much credit.  They're tied for second to last in sacks, are racked 13th in the AFC in total yards allowed. Passing Defense is ranked 14th in the AFC. 13th in the afc in total yards allowed. The only D category that they rank in the top 10 in the AFC in is rushing D.  Which they rank number 2.  Their secondary is NOT a strength.

Colts D ranks 8th in the AFC against the pass, somehow. 1st in sacks with 17, 9th against the run, 9th in total yards allowed.

Now I think we have our hands full against NE, they have our number per usual. But it's gonna be Tom Brady and the home field that beat us. Their D doesn't scare me, we cant run the ball against a middle school team anyway. As long as we can get Luck time, I think he can keep us in the game and keep it close.

Secondary is the strength of their D but that's not saying much.. It lacks talent and athletes. Gilmore is the only Pro Bowl talent they have. McCourty and Hightower have regressed badly. They are good at stopping the run as BB teams focus heavily on that but their interior offers no pass rush and their LBs can't cover. They always give up yards in exchange for eliminating big play and then tighten up in the red zone where space gets smaller and their big, physical players have bigger advantage at stopping other team from getting into the end zone.

We should be able to move the ball and in 12 personnel we should've one of their LBs against one of our TEs (Chung is usually matched up against one TE) and take advantage of that, or use out backs more in the receiving game. Our soft zone against Brady worries me, Brady usually carves them up.

Don't know either name but I couldn't tell you 95 percent of the rookies names in this league.

Neither of these guys are rookies, there's some NFL tape on them.. makes me bit more comfortable that they could pan out for us, easier to translate/project success than from college game.

Muhammad played well for the Saints last preseason  but they were pretty deep at DE and didn't get much playing time during the season.

I haven’t seen him play, but based solely on the profile, he sounds horrible. Again, just my first impression based only on the profile. He sounds more like a practice squad candidate than someone worthy of being on our 53.

He did play well last year in preseason for the Saints, iirc. But then got buried when the season started.

I think Bronson Kafusi is worth a look. Was a very productive sack man at BUT. He's long and quick. Just didn't quite fit the Ravens scheme. Had a pretty good preseason. He's really a 4-3 DE.

I agree. He's probably too small/thin to be 3-4DE, too big for 3-4 OLB. 6'6, 285 and had great 3-cone and short shuttle times, not every guy with that profile has enough strength to hold up in the interior but he could work against tackles in space. Dude did turn 27 though.
