Bill Polian - Corey Simon  (fail)

Bill Belichick - Mike Vrabel, or Rodney Harrison (unknown then)

Pete Carroll - Michael Bennett, possibly Cliff Avril (not massive names...)

    Right?

Vrabel wasn'r really big name, big money guy. Even moreso than Harrison who was coming off a Pro Bowl season when NE signed him. Adalius Thomas was though. And Stephon Gilmore, Darrelle Revis.

Carroll had Zach Miller and Sidney Rice.

There isn't a single Colts player on that list, & I could honestly make an argument for Doyle, TY, Castonzo, & Hooker.

TY, yes. Castonzo, too. Doyle and Hooker, no. At least they would be very poor arguments. 6 good games and then torn ACL just aren't enough. Doyle isn't a big play threat like Gronk, Kelce and Ertz etc. He had lot of catches but medicore YPC and I wouldn't personally put even Jarvis Landry in the top 100, despite him being league leader in catches.

Anyway, I think it's fair to not have Luck in there as he's missed so much time with so many setbacks but he'll get back on the list and high if he'll stay healthy.

If LeBron is serious about getting a ring he should join the Rockets. The only team that can compete with the Warriors in terms of firepower.

It would be terrible for the NBA though if he did. But for him that would be the smart move.

I think the 76ers could be an option for him too. Embiid, Simmons, Fultz with LeBron could do some damage.

He would have to take major discount. Or Morey managing to ship off Anderson contract.

now im hoping lebron and paul do go to la.  id enjoy watching the warriors beat them both out there, and it gets them out of the east

how would lebron, paul and kawhi fit on the same team if they are all small forwards? hard to see james being a full time point guard

LeBron basically is a PG and has been for a while.

Maybe not ideal fits but those 3 would be nightmare to guard. No one has good enough wings for that. Spacing wouldn't be an issue either as they all can shoot.

I don't think it's likely that they all end up on the same team though.

    I think we keep 9

    Sheard

    Autry

    Woods

    Basham

    Simon

    Roches

    Lewis

    Turay

    Mccain

Woods and Roches as the only true DTs with size on the roster? I don't like that at all. The priority seems ot have shifted more to speed/athleticism but that group would just get gashed in the run game.

I feel like this same thread was posted a year ago.

    Anyhow, I will go with...

    Offense: Julio Jones

    Defense: Aaron Donald

This would probably be mine too. Aaron Donald is the best player in football in my opinion so he's an easy choice.

I think Julio would be the best fit/make the most impact given our current roster. I see AB as better WR but Jones would fit better with TY.

That game was a devastating loss for the Cavs. I don't see anyway they recover from that as that was their chance to win a game in Golden State IMO. I don't see them outRebounding the Warriors again 53-38 and I doubt LeBron scores 51 again. This Warriors team is stacked and if they lost 4 out of 6 games that would be shocking. Getting Game 1 on the road would've gave the Cavs a chance to win the series. If the Cavs lose they lose, LeBron probably still belongs on the Mt Rushmore in the NBA of all-time despite his Finals record with Jordan, Magic, and Kareem. JMO's.

Agreed, though LeBron might score in the 50s again but it won't matter much. Warriors have just too much talent and Cavs have to play guys like JR Smith 30+ mins a game.. lol. Tough to recover mentally from a loss like that.

They probably would've lost the series had Cavs won the game. Warriors were clearly off and only started to hit their groove in OT.

It kind of applies in the NFL to an extent too. So many teams hire former players as their HC assuming his years of experience in the league will translate to him being a good coach, meanwhile, a HC in New England that never played a snap of football in his life has built one of most dominant sports dynasties of all time.

BB has played football, just not at pro level.

But yes, that's pretty common in pro sports, though MLB has gotten away from it and NBA a little bit.

He played all 16 games and had 54 catches for 563 yds with a 10.4 average.
Not bad when his QB was Mariota.

Those are pretty bad numbers when your QB is Mariota.. though kind of ok when your HC is Mike Mularkey.

Decker had almost twice as many yards when he had Geno Smith/Fitzmagic as his QB.

from what I gather, the media didn't catch it until a couple days AFTER he started but that the day he started was hours after officially being benched for the second time to Gabbert.

It was couple of weeks. He sat on the bench for the first two games, but it went mostly unnoticed. He was recovering from offseason injuries and didn't dress for the game. Then on the 3rd week it was noticed, apparently kind of accidentially.

Why?  They can't get past the Pats with that group..and have tried repeatedly,

Those two haven't been in full health in their games against the Pats, at least the last couple of years.

Probably not the best example since it goes back to the millennium!

Are you saying that drafting an offensive lineman in the first two rounds once every 4/5 years is the sort of commitment you want to see?

Pats have nailed most of their top picks when it comes to oline. Having the best OL coach in the game helps too. Hopefully we nailed those picks so we don't have to invest that high resources on OL for a while.

I get where you are coming from but if he was all that good he wouldn't have been replaced.

He pays an agent X percentage of his pay and he thinks he should be doing the negotiations?  Believe me the agent will get what he is worth no matter what he thinks.

Yes but that's where the issue may lie. Reid thinks he should get something like what Jefferson got last year (10M per year long-term). But he is offered around or just above what other safeties have gotten this offseason (5-6M). Reid thinks he's being low-balled because of the anthem issue. GMs don't see safeties in general as that valuable/they seem them as more easily replacable and that's why safeties, including Reid, aren't getting big bucks. I'm just speculating here but that may be the case. Reid and/or his agent may overrate his own ability and/or value of the safeties in general. As Reid arguably isn't that caliber of a player that a guy like Jefferson is. Jefferson's price was also driven up by weak safety market.

Reid does have concussion history too which may explain why 9ers are/were unwilling to commit long-term. They might not see S as that valuable position or Reid as that valuable player for their scheme which they changed last year. We cut Hankins and he's still unsigned and he's legitimately good player and was one of our better defensive players last year.

If he was valued to be a good player he would have been resigned by the 49ers.

Lots of players were kneeling and they have jobs. Why? Because their talent is needed enough for teams to sign them.

He will get another chance to prove his worth if not he will be unemployed once again.

Reid has been more vocal than almost anyone, though.

49ers offered him an extension (I think 1 yr deal at around 8M) but he declined. 49ers are also relatively well set at safety.

What about that do you not understand?

The part about him not being good football player, or you using sacks or tackles to prove that he's not.

I think he's a good football player (relatively better S than Kaep is QB) but not good enough to outweigh the potential distraction he can bring (at least for the amoung of money he was asking), along with safety position being devalued by most of the league this offseason. Vaccaro, Branch and Boston are still unsigned too and all of them are starting caliber safeties.
