On a brighter side Xavier McKinney and Christian Wilkins made it to FA.

Finally. I was worried there for a moment.

Hard to imagine any team offering Pittman more than what the Colts were offering him. Ballard overpays his own for the most part.

Let’s hope he signs the offer sheet.

I really don’t think anyone knows that for sure. Especially after the details of the Evans contract today.

I like Ridley better than Pittman actually. Ridley was suspended years ago for Gambling. That’s why he sat out a year. All of this is old news.

They won’t get two firsts I believe. They will make a different arrangement with the Colts. This is like a tag and trade now. Team agrees to a contract the Colts won’t match so the Colts rescind the tag and trade him for something less than to firsts.

I would go and get Calvin Ridley now. He can easily replace Pittman. He’s more of a deep threat and he would be cheaper. Then draft another Receiver with the first pick.

Still sucks. They had plenty of time. They got up to the deadline. If they were that close it should wrap up tomorrow.

Well that sucks. Very disheartening. I don’t care how close they are. Very disappointing.

What’s with Rapoport? The transition tag puts him on the market. Patriots get a chance to match. That’s all.

1:30 PM and no tag yet from the Colts when everyone else has been tagged except Chris Jones and Josh Allen. Looking more and more like they will get it done. Btw Evans deal contains $6m in incentives and some injury guarantees. His base annual amount is closer to $21m than $26m according to Florio.

That’s my first choice. But Dayo made good progress this year. We have no idea what our DL coach thinks of Dayo. Maybe he thinks he’s ready. If we get WIlkens and someone calls on Buckner I think they would listen.

Wilkins cap hit would be nowhere near Buckners. Buckner is on the final year of his contract at age 30. If they sign Wilkins at age 28 I could see a scenario where they trade Buckner leading up to the draft for maybe a 2nd rd pick and put Dayo in Buckners spot. You get younger at the interior and you still have a premier player in Wilkins there. An extra 2nd rd pick opens up all kinds of possibilities.

They just mentioned the Colts as one of three teams that could be interested in WIlkens because of the fact he was the player we wanted from Miami when we were discussing trading Taylor to them. So I can see them connecting the dots.

I don’t think so either. WIlkens would replace him. They wanted him in a trade for JT. Now they can sign him. They wanted to trade for him knowing they would have to extend him. Now they can sign him as a FA if they choose.

Looks like DT Christian WIlkens will not get the tag for Miami. According to BR this morning the Colts had discussions with Miami regarding trading JT for WIlkens back when the drama started with JT’s contract. It didn’t happen but now that he will be a FA there is a possibility the Colts could still be interested in signing him as he would be a replacement for Grover. WIlkens is 28.

Miami DT Christian Wilkins is a FA. Just read an article on BR saying when all of the JT drama was going on last year the Colts did have conversations with Miami about trading Taylor for Wilkins. It never happened of course but if Wilkins makes it to FA the Colts might pursue him as a replacement for Grover. He’s only 28 so if there was interest before it makes sense that the interest could still be there.

I don’t believe Aiuk is a FA. They are just talking about extending him.

Reggie really must have had some influence.

The tag is $21m. That’s the starting point. Both sides know that. Evans just got $26m. That should enable them to get a deal done before a tag is required. Ballard said they were close. If they were close I would think Evans deal should help finalize it. Unless, of course, they are not close.

Who’s going to give him a serious offer knowing it will cost them two 1st rd picks? You really can’t say you’ve tested the market until you can prove it with a written offer. I don’t think he gets one on the tag at that cost.

This could get the Pittman deal before the tag. My suggestion. Same numbers and guaranteed percentage. Just four years instead of two.

Looks like Brian Burns might be heading to a tag a trade scenario as well. That might have some appeal for Ballard as well.
