  1. I think it's more severe than just seeing the game differently. I think there is intentional misrepresentation. There is a word for that. Its one thing to misinform, its another to see things so badly that it can't be anything other than intentional. Levis neither "failed to win" or "threw a pick to lose the game". His pick came with 11 seconds left on 3rd down from the 20. A situation that meant there was only one more play left from the 20 yard line, possibly two. If the pass would have fallen incomplete, then it would have been 4th and 10 from the 20 yard line with only 8 seconds left. Its like getting the only pick of the game on a Hail Mary at the end. It would be near dishonest to describe that pick as losing the game.
  2. Well said. I think some folks may feel the need to create separation between their favorite and the other guy. One way to do that is to say the other guy sucks more than my favorite, so my choice is still validated. I think 3 of the 4 have a very good shot at being very good QBs. Young I have reservations. And in the end, my favorite football is competent football. But if the Colts aren't that, I can still root even for TEN, HOU and JAX if their QBs are playing well.
  3. All picks and stats are not equal. Facts are usually useless unless they have context. Hypothetical Example: Two QBs each go 10/12 no TDs and 1 pick. Not much difference to judge performance. QB #1 team is behind by 4 and leads a 4th Q drive that needs to score a TD in 1:50 with three time outs. Ends up throwing his pick in the end zone on 3rd down with 11 seconds left from the 20 yard line. Basically, the pass...any pass....had to be thrown. Since it doesn't give the opponent a meaningful possession and his team was running out of downs and time, that pick is nothing more than an incompletion. QB#2' team is behind by 4 points in the second quarter and he throws a pick on his own 40 yard line on second down from his 25. This pick has much more adverse consequences because it gave the opponent a meaningful possession near FG range. Also, since it was in the second quarter and on second down, that pass did not have to be thrown at all compared to QB1's situation. A person would only know this difference if they watched both games. The stats by themselves...cherry picking....would in fact, lie, because without knowing the context, the stats themselves look like both QBs performed equally when they clearly did not.
  4. I think the post was exaggerative at its root.
  5. I'm not triggered nor excited. Once again you exaggerate as if your exaggeration is fact. You were giving a biased assessment, whether you realize it or not. Especially above. Saying what you said above clearly is setting a standard that rookie QB playing his second game is supposed to win the game in the 4th quarter. Exaggerate the standard to be able to claim that he failed. That is hardly a standard that any reasonable person would set for any of the rookie QBs. When your posts are reasonable, we get along. Have a nice night.
  6. Jesus. Most here aren’t as biased as you. You seem to exaggerate what other people say just to have a reason to complain He had a good night. Just like ar had good games. Btw it would matter if it was the 4th pick in the draft or the 33rd
  7. Yes. He got lucky. It was a tough task to drive the field in that situation as a rookie
  8. Tennessee’s offense is pretty bland. They need receivers worse than we do. Its all Hopkins. Steelers make a 4th quarter drive to go ahead. Then stop Tennessee twice. Levis throws his only pick in the end zone with 11 seconds left.
  9. Levis playing very good. Good decisions. Good throws. Titans gets FG with 2 minute drive to end the half.
  10. Aren't most of our players at or below that level? I think Raimann, Kelly, Downs and Buckner are consistently above that, with Nelson hovering near it. Golly.
  11. Leonard's contract hangs around his neck like a boat anchor, so he has that problem. What I meant to say is that Irsay might think Leonard is right, that he is being too confined, and will view it as an accurate mark against Bradley. Not that seeing it that way will alleviate Leonard's contract problem.
  12. Probably. But there is a possibility that irsay sides with Leonard on this. And Bradley is the one that goes. If not both.
  13. Times of stress are usually more revealing.
  14. The problem with JT is that his style of running will also produce a lot of stuffs at the LOS. So it puts the QB in 3rd and long a lot. And we punt a lot. Same as Derrick Henry. The offense can't really be a possession short passing chain mover because the defense will cram the routes...it needs to be explosive. JT needs to explode every...what....8th hand off, and there needs to be explosion in the over the top passing game. That offense has a different look to it than a sideway throwing possession passing game. We don't have the receivers for that explosion that needs to compliment JTs style. IMO.
  15. Yeah, I think traditional player evaluations would have Levis being drafted ahead of AR. Levis was more NFL ready, and that alone garners a higher draft spot than a guy with 13 college starts. But modern QBing values different things. And I get some of Levis' unforced errors and ego personality issues. By most rights, Levis should have gone in the top 5 (not saying I wanted Levis there...I was kind of indifferent after Stroud went off the board..... but saying I thought he was going to be the pick) and AR should have been the guy who fell out of the first round....because the first round is usually about finding players that can play right away. And then teams realizing AR was still sitting there, vigorously trade up to take him top of the second round. If they both turn out to be good QBs, draft position doesn't matter.
  16. When I watch MarvinJ, here is my concern about how "elite" he might be. Like his father, he seems to get YAC only when he has wide open spaces in front of him. If a defender is close to him, he doesn't really have the jukes to make the guy miss, and he tends to get tackled a bit easier than I would expect for a 6'4" WR. Just my eyes, and I have not seen him play a ton (because I tend to not like OSU. lol). In this sense, is he basically a route running "possession" receiver, but who can get behind the D over the top as a threat? A great addition to the corps, but lacking the juke...break away from the defender type of YAC. I'm probably just being picky and pointing out where he is not perfect. OTOH, in addition to speed, routes, and hands, Chase can juke a guy out of his cleats, so he can create wide open space in front of him even though a defender is close to him. I think that ability helps CIN and Burrow quite a bit. Its why I would entertain the idea of Bowers or a pass rusher instead of MHJ. A conversation, not a slam dunk either way at this point.
  17. Well, I don't want to talk about Levis exclusively, so just to wrap it up for me. I thought Levis had all of the tools of an NFL QB to be the number 1 pick in the draft (agreed with Kiper) but also had a bit of an overconfident/ego thing...on the field...that caused him to play hero ball and make a ton of unforced errors....aided by the fact that his team kinda stunk too. Just based upon his play in that one game, and his reactions, he seemed a lot more humbled, mature, and relaxed (doesn't have to "win" every series). If he keeps that up I think he really has the potential for a great career. He really does have all of the traits, as well as the training in an NFL style of offense. The mayo thing was just the SM bullies who already hated him just looking for something, IMO.
  18. I think some of your posts got away from your prediction, in that it seemed that you expected the Colts to win....not just rooting for them. As well as AR was playing....and lets not forget that his QBR was actually not very good....I expected him to throw picks at critical times, fumble at critical times, and to miss passes to not convert 3rd downs. IOW, I expected him to look like an NFL rookie QB as the season wore on. But plenty of positives to build upon.
  19. Mine: We would not be contending for the Division title even if AR was playing.
  20. I think that is smart. Unless some great player drops out of the sky, I think he'd be just churning the bottom of the roster while playing each game with the backup QB....not going anywhere anyway. Any position that needs improvement will likely see a greater investment in the offseason than what would be invested now. The guy he picks up will likely never be part of the solution, and I don't think it matters to Irsay if we lose two games more than if we had this bottom of the roster player...as if he would even matter.
  21. Agreed. C-F was a name I saw last spring as having both some production in college AND traits Ballard likes. Already been released by SF, though. Seems like he might have the same issues as Darius Rush.
  22. Its reported that he values the Senior Bowl, since the Colts seem to have a lot of activity around that bowl game. I suppose that's where they judge first hand the player's playing ability. Not sure how effective its been.
  23. I think the heart of the matter is that you feel it’s important for these players to be good guys. Sure, they can’t be criminals. But being selfish or not over how many passes comes his way seems like it’s digging deep to find something to judge. On either side of the debate.
  24. His first round pick was a limited production college player with high ceiling over the more nfl ready productive qb. his second round pick was a high traits guy. Brents third was the Wayne high college production guy seems like he kinda did the same as always this past year too?
