Folks here have been focused on receivers for the colts so that’s the convo I’m having. I think if this team has the chance for a generational player, it should take him. I would not pass on bowers just because I want to see what woods or granson or Mallory can do. Cox is gone and keep ogletree because we need depth anyway.

The opinion of minshew has nothing to do with why fans think ar would be better at this point though. He wasn’t better than minshew when he was playing and there is nothing to say that ar would not fall off from that point or ascend. But fans just assume he would ascend.

I don’t think there is anyway that happens. There are always new drafts and QBs every year. If ar is not the answer we can get one of them then. the salary cap and roster structure will not allow back to back top 5 QBs. Jmo

I thought minshew was actually playing better than ar. If gm falls off why wouldn’t aR fall off from his play its amazing how fandom makes folks think that the guy who isn’t here would be better

Seems like you weren’t serious since he threw more 45 air yard td passes in one game than the colts have thrown probably in their last 20, I’d describe his performance as more Marino than staubach. He really didn’t run much. he didn’t have to expose himself to injury to make it all work. That was a good thing too

He put touch on the ball when needed. And zipped it when needed. He pump faked the db when Hopkins did the double moves and threw a great pass under pressure for the last td. It was a lot more than having Hopkins.

To cover Kamara, I'm guessing that player needs to be a safety and not a LB. Supposedly, that would open up running plays for Kamara. Not that his running is as big of a threat as receiving.

This is what an elite RB looks like. Along with McCaffrey. They can stay in the game all three downs and a DC is never going to be able to tell if the NO or SF is going to pass or run. Should Gus always have a pass based LBer corps in the game? Saints averaged 4.5YPG, so the run was a concern.

I wasn't really making a statement with my question. I'm just wondering if we've yet played any offense that's considered really good. For as long as I can remember. Our defense manages to give up enough points at the wrong times in tight games to lose. There have been some defensive stands here and there, but its generally whimpered when opponents step on the gas. We had no dominant pass rusher and a rookie/young secondary going into the season. I'm surprised anybody thought that the defense would be good. Oh yeah, Leonard was coming back....

I assume Gus had run defense personnel in the game at that point? I think any one play or several plays can have a mismatch when the QB and receivers see it. I mean. if Gus isn't going to play run defense at all why have Franklin even dress?

Curious. What is the rankings of the opposing offenses we've faced? They're not really juggernauts this year are they? No Cincy, KC, MIA and we've generally played a last place schedule?

Franklin vs Kamara isn't really a Gus problem or a Ballard problem though. Its good defense recognition by Carr. Good QBs and receivers see mismatches. Kamara against any ILB would be a mismatch.
