  1. Thanks to the OP for this, and all that share their knowledge on the cap "specifics" I can follow the math.....when its math, but all the special nuance of how that math applies can be overwhelming..... If I have deciphered this thread correctly we can keep the handful of guys we don't want to lose if it all works out, and have some cash left to sign a free agent or two (second level types) or maybe 1 marquee guy give or take.....I dont want Ballard spending to spend....but if he can improve the team I would prefer that over boasting what cap we have left.....Money don't make plays on the field, players do.....
  2. Our defense is bad, We have to outscore/outlast our offensive opponent to win, luckily for our schedule its doable in most match ups.....getting Grover back will help with the run up the gut problems....however still too weak and inconsistent in pass rush and pass coverage....Some times we look like world beaters, other times we look like the 2's in a pre season snoozer.........
  3. Dude is like a Keebler elf...Pops out of a tree stump, chucks us all a cookie and disappears back into the stump.....thats one hella hammy......get him a wheel chair.....
  4. Thanks for the memories, but to me he was a liability to the D when on the field this year in my opinion. Injury took his edge, sad really. Don't know if it even matters that it happened now. I don't think this team is distracted by it, maybe a little sad to those who were close to him. As far as Gus he wasn't my guy from day 1 but his system is "safe" with a low talent team such as ours. Good with good talent at every level......he doesn't bend much to players skill set, but for a GM he is probably easy to identify and draft talent for......what we need is some more talent beyond the LB'ers we have some rookies, both promising and not so much, and our Safeties are avg/good but the lack of experience and the overall averageness cannot be overcome by any coach....some consistent pass rush wouldn't hurt...... and a more progressive/innovative coach wouldnt hurt, but we need talent on the field to make the coach make any difference whatsoever.
  5. I say let Steichen decide at seasons end, he has shown to be quite good at putting the offense together, I think if this season continues as is, he deserves to decide who will lead the defensive side of things for his staff. Ballard needs to stay in his lane and scout/draft/trade for talent to fit scheme....I am still waiting for him to be a Good GM, I don't need him trying to be a coach too.
  6. can someone please change the title of this thread to "our tertiary" thanks......the fans lol
  7. 13-6 Texans, TD on a pick 6 as AR struggles and run game still absent.
  8. I am currently operating under the assumption that we are tanking on purpose. O-Line bad last year (did nothing to improve it) RB room catastrophically depleted we do nothing to improve it......instead of Suck for Luck, think, "We can't run the ball son" for Harrison (jr.)...... or something as equally un-sexy to say LOL
  9. Couldnt agree more......He was fine with the contract then he wasn't he could have had those conversations privately with Irsay and Ballard and at least with Irsay did.....he could have been un happy with the outcome of those talk(s) and could have asked privately that he be traded but he didn't .....He could do a hold in to protest the outcome of all of that stuff (appears) he is......if his ankle still isn't right would be a whole other can of worms (discussion) Reversing comments of past incidents is acting out, and trying to sabotage his way off of the team, That doesn't speak to intelligence, more so immaturity, petulance, self absorbed personality type.....I could care less if he won the noble peace prize...an *hat is an *hat..... I really don't care if he ever plays for the Colts again, I could care less if they ever get a thing from him.....(of course I hope they can either get him in the fold or get something for him) but philosophically I am done with JT.
  10. Evasive in answering why saying you pay good players....JT is good player...and when asked why didnt you pay him then, his response "we won 4 games" .... IF that is straight forward then he is saying we only won 4 games BEACUSE of JT. It was more like our OL sucked and we had a noodle arm statue chucking the rock in Matt Ryan....firing everyone but the OL coach, having inexperienced coaches being the O-coordinator and hiring a TV analyst with no coaching experience take over the team .... none of those things contributed if he is being straight forward....only JT Thats what I mean by being evasive. We all know that all of those things contributed to winning 4 games and only JT playing hurt (allegedly) is the only contribution JT made to that pile of mess.....
  11. interesting inference your charging me with, incorrect but interesting. If JT is not a "good player" I have to wonder why we traded up to get him.....either he is part of the build or he isn't . If the coaching staff is dictating the build we are in bigger trouble than I thought......This is Ballards build (take 2) , he may bend it to meet different staff's personality but if he is allowing them to dictate what is and isn't talent we have a problem. If a scheme change has de-emphasized the importance of a player or position group then the "man up" thing to do is admit it and get what you can get from the situation. The fight really is over this years wages....as tagging him beyond this year is virtually a rub $$ wise to what his annual salary might be plus or minus a couple mil. So although my belief is the Colts are going to force him to play out this year at 4mil. that makes it harder to re-sign him beyond and forces the tag if they don't let him walk. And if they let him walk they lost whatever compensation they might have got this year.......So they are playing this out in a way where he remains mad, and we have to tag him to keep him, or saying a 3rd rounder or whatever someone offered is not good enough we demand nothing for him and let him walk....seems like a dumb approach..........I dont like how JT handled it.....but we are here now.....I just dont see any advantage to the way the Colts are playing it if they think "he is a good player" ........I dont know I just dont see how being evasive in answering the question is helpful to the Colts.....if it no longer works get what you can get and move on......eat crow and say we have changed directions or I was wrong or whatever.....the drama is needless and not helping the rebuild........
  12. I think you might be missing the sarcasm of Ballards dodge in the press conference of "We sign good players" but we are not re-signing JT "because we won 4 games" ....we all know that is a dodge the question answer, I am just playing that thread all the way out as truth if we only win 4 games again....we lose more than JT next year/end of this season.......just punking on Ballard and his statement..........I am personally giving Ballard into next season to make this team dramatically better after all this is his "do over" run at being GM.......he built the team it didnt work so he is trying again....Irsay got more patience with him than I do.......I want to cheer for a good team not a perpetually rebuilding one.......I will buy a jersey when the ride comes to a complete stop kinda guy........
  13. I like the optimism of all the "IF's" on this team lining up being espoused here, (and I hope they do) but we were like bottom 5 offense last year....we let Campbell Walk and have JT issues on the negative side and drafted an inexperienced QB to offset all of that on the positive side.......So if we improve slightly on offense that would be a win...and we would average around 22 points a game.....our defense on average gave up like 23 points a game.....so that would (if the law of averages line up like If's do) between 4-6 wins this season. Besides vets wanting out wonder who we "won't" sign because we won (X) amount of games this year. Just seems odd the guy who selects the talent punishes the talent for not being , well......more talented.....
  14. 50% completion range in the teens TD passing probably in the 20's INT's and throw in better than 5 less than 10 rushing TD's ..... and to me that would be progress over his 1 college year provided more of the good stats start building and the bad stats start diminishing as the year unfolds.....I expect the first 4-6 weeks to be brutal for him. (<-) ironically that might be the same timeline of seeing Taylor on the field.....and I am saying this with the thought Taylor somehow doesn't see the field this year.......GOD love the outside talking heads attribute his improvement TO taylors return.......I am saying thats (WITHOUT Taylor input) .......it probably gives Taylor the leg up in looking even more valuable if it plays out that way though
  15. Just a funny/disturbing thought....With Rookies dang near everywhere on the roster, and vets that need to demonstrate they are better than last year, Kelly, Raimann, Nelson, Moore, and the health of Leonard just to name a few.......terrified that we might only win about 4 games.....AGAIN.....and apparently that is in Ballards wheel house of not re-signing anyone.....we will lose the few good players we have.....wonder what number is good enough to re-sign players....I am cheering for that many wins......../sarcasm
  16. Here is where the frustration is for me: Saying you pay good players/stating we only won 4 games last year/Ballards history of extending paying players in the past ahead of their expiring contract. <- These things contradict each other. This is a mess created by Ballard that combined with his "adjusted view" /outside criticism of Ballard paying non critical positions premium contracts has put him in a situation where if he pays him then his critics go "see he continues to reward the wrong positions" if he doesn't pay him Well here we are.....I can't say which way "He should go" but I think he has painted himself in a corner, and he likes to always spin it to where he comes out on top.....and either way he goes here he won't do that, and its bothering him. The presser for me was him saying, I need to try and talk Taylor out of painting me in the corner........ I will be shocked if he succeeds cause to me the paint is already applied we are all just watching it dry
  17. Holder thinks highly of his own opinion, its exceedingly rare that he has information beyond his own opinion/based on hearsay and scuttle butt .......he is the dear Abby of Colts football.... What is your problem? Here is what you should do......kinda thing......
  18. Gotta believe that ANY player on an injured or Physically Unable to perform, or any other "I got an owie" list must be there on the determination of the team physicians.......and based on said "boo-boo" there is a recovery/rehab plan......and because there IS a plan, those plans have weigh points where they are re-evaluated/monitored as to their progress. I think the the first 4 PUP that Taylor is under has nothing to do with injury but more so to do with letting Taylor calm down so that they can take time to try and repair the relationship.......I think if he would have been traded he would NOT have been pup'd................just my 2 cents......
  19. 42-17 Jags.... Richardson runs for more TD's than he throws with 2 INT's......but the Colts spin the handful of good plays he has as growth........
  20. I wont be shocked with an 0-3 start......and I dont think the GM who is the architect of the build back backward plan will deal away vets that he overpaid for.....its just going to take time to sort out the mistakes and wrong think the team has operated under,....and that will take more than 1 season no matter what....
  21. I totally agree with this, the PR departments new slogan on the West side will soon be, "Drama builds character" or maybe..... "Hostages are ok with us" ..... not sure which way they are leaning lol
  22. kind of what i was saying he will be "injured" just enough to make a point.....but not so much that he doesnt accrue..
  23. So if he is legit injured by Colt team Dr's standards...(would only be logical that there is an evaluation process associated with PUP not just the players word) then I suppose but what advantage is that to Taylor? to the outside world he is disgruntled and "seriously" injured to be on the PUP all year, the Colts can slap a franchise tag on him at seasons end and he is no better off, in fact to the rest of the league he might be in worse shape value wise cause who is gonna match a tag of a player that was hurt all year.
  24. He will be available enough to fulfill the requirements and walk free at seasons end.........Colts will get na-da in return.
