  1. I see the value of analytics....I always felt Frank used them to justify some baffling "lack of feel for the moment" decision making..... I want a guys gut making the decision and analytics peppering his thought process to that end, not the other way around. In other words don't let the tail wag the dog....
  2. I cant argue with that..... we are in a lousy division right now, don't know whether to be proud of it or embarrassed for it...lol
  3. I basically say this year as NewColtsFan has said is a "red shirt" year. but if you really want to step back from your fandom and be objective you would say: QB question mark on performance but potential (basically every year since Luck left) check RB good. O-line last year horrible, signed two late round project types to fix it......WR group can't get separation.........signed a short crosser to fix it......TE, lots of potential little production, added a mid-late pick to fix it....D-line good but thin, now good and deep....LB shaq-back question last year same this year.....DB's sound but not spectacular, traded or let them all walk drafted rookies to replace them.....safeties were ok last year, nothing much done to change that.....So lots of potential at many positions group.....they can do it level yet to be seen/determined........Lots of youth, lots of potential the O line is in a prove it year to me...if all those millions cant bring up the play of those around them or at least overcome their short comings I gotta say why we paying em......no excuse you a 20 mil center or guard you gotta do waaaaaaay better in my book. 5 or 6 wins is where my bar is set...
  4. I will be evaluating the evaluator over the next 2-3 seasons watching Stroud, Levis, and AR play against each other twice a year......should be fun
  5. I almost want the Titans to get Levis, we as fans get to evaluate the evaluator for the next few years seeing the other two choices twice a year.....
  6. taking suggestions for a new tag line....been sporting the Luck one.....well....since Luck retired.....
  7. I think Ballard's M.O. is plucking vets that get released post draft as teams fill out their rosters on the plenty of (FA) front.....17 1st round grades is subjective by each teams assessment......this draft isn't a "thin or weak" one more so it has depth in areas outside of QB. This QB draft class is weak as there isn't any clear front runners......in other words good year if you need DL, edge, corner or TE......not so much if you are a QB needy team. Next year looks to be QB and WR blue chippers draft.....and who knows what else as the college season unfolds......I just want a blue chip pick with our blue chip position at #4.............but I might be in the minority on that thought........as we NEEEEEEEED a QB.
  8. fan of taking a QB in 2nd or 3rd round if all these QB's are truly what has been reported on the lead up to the draft.........and trading everything we got for a QB next year......lot of key holes for the team, just fill as many holes as smartly as possible.......
  9. I would NOT be shocked if Ballard drafts Jalen Carter, and trades back up into the end of round one to take Hendon Hooker......personally I am not over the moon on any of these guys so I just hope whoever we draft at QB is the right guy at QB.......I have concerns about them all......
  10. We all might have to get used to saying, "The Colts put their Levis on, one cannon arm at a time" lol
  11. I have heard that from other evaluators.....his mechanics are "sloppy" footwork mainly (some have said its inconsistent sometimes good sometimes bad so its not like he is incapable, but does point to the mental discipline to consistently apply it) .....and he lacks pocket presence...Simms talks of him floating into trouble in the pocket first I have heard of that but the fact remains he doesn't sense pressure very well at all..... and our line is the best in the league at allowing pressure...(sarcasm) but you know what I mean lol
  12. No truer words have ever been spoken. Sign lamar PO some peeps, draft (fill in the blank) po some people X4 scenarios maybe 5.....draft BPA po some people........some contingent of haters gonna hate guaranteed. Sounds simplistic but I just want the best long term decision to be made......Im not on the inside so as a fan I have to take a leap of faith on whatever he chooses being the right decision....I will have a distinct opinion 2 years from now like everyone else though LOL
  13. For me Lamar has contract wants and long term viability issues that make him unattractive to me, the top 4 QB's are all short of generational.....so I would rather keep future picks, I would be ok with drafting best player available at any position at 4.....or trading back for future picks so we have more ammo to trade UP next year when/if better QB options are available. I would rather sacrifice the 23 top end for long term improved top end.....but I might be in the minority on this thought.
  14. I was a bit surprised when we traded Gillmore to free up some cap room, and didnt give Parris Campbell a (1) year flyer with 1/3 of it......I kind of assumed that freeing up that cash was to retain a guy or two with one year flyer offers.....its not that I thought Campbell was the be all end all but with our other needs on the team, I didn't see the logic in creating yet another need........I dunno, I haven't been locked in as tight this off season as I have in past off seasons so maybe I am missing something in the bigger scheme.
  15. What I think the Colts SHOULD do (not a popular take): Stay at #4.........I was against signing Rivers, Wentz and Ryan..........but with this years draft class at QB I am now of the opinion sign a (fill in the blank retread QB here) and draft a DE or OT. Raimann could slide to RT, Brayden Smith to RG........try to capture lightning in a bottle this season, trade everything you got next year to get to 1st overall and draft a franchise QB
  16. I don't trust that we draft a QB at all....so the psychology for me is if we trade for the #1 spot, what else would we be taking, there are no generational guards in this years draft........
  17. Two things this week: I dont have to wait until Wednesday to figure out something positive to say....and.....We won!
  18. This weeks Wednesday positive: Frank Reich will forever have a winning record as Colts coach......wish I could say the same for our GM...but *shrugs*
  19. This weeks Positive. Matt Ryan for the first time this year had zero turnovers!
  20. This weeks positive: We are the only team in the league to announce our 3rd (strike that 2nd string) (strike that again 1st string QB behind/in the middle of/ahead of (2) SB appearing QB's is the starter.....for the rest of the season....SMART!
  21. We didnt try to be balanced offensively this game, instead we tried to win....novel idea
  22. This weeks positive thought: Chin up Colts fans we are barely 3 points better than the worst offense in all of the NFL....
  23. Matt Ryan has not fumbled since the game ended
  24. This weeks positive thought. Since the game ended Sunday Ryan has not fumbled once and its almost Wednesday!
  25. I am now of the opinion the man is afraid to make a big move for QB, LT, or pass rusher....Some circumstance has made having a top draft pick a non starter.....but there have been opportunities over the years to trade up and effectively fill one or more of those rolls, yet he pecks away with marginal second rounders or moderate FA acquisitions.....I think he thinks if I fill the team with everything else it will minimize the importance of these rolls.....the NFL has determined that is a lie.
