  1. If Bethea has another 100 tackle season he's coming back next year. Which I was already expecting him to do especially since he actually has a good safety partner.

If Bethea racks up 100 tackles this season, something went seriously wrong with the defense. Landry could possibly get 100, although I don't think he should either, but he should be the ONLY guy in the secondary that even comes close to that number.

To be honest, he's going to have to show that he can be the ball-hawking FS we need him to be rather than a run of the mill tackler. This is Bethea's time to shine.

  2. Good morning everyone.....

Was wondering how this would shake out.....

    So......

Apologies to Nadine and 8792.... and I appreciate Blu taking the high road in return. Never would occur to me to have his comments -- any of them -- "reported"....

I absolutely was not using the "under the influence" comment in any other way other than as a joke. Please remember, I live out in So. Cal where seemingly most everyone is under the influence of something, so I'm never serious when I say that, and I've said it here before.... but I will 'retire' it from future discussions.... but it was used as a joke.... please chalk it up to my odd sense of humor...

I look forward to a time when Luck improves so much, that he's judged as "pretty good" instead of just "average"....

p.s. -- I think that time is coming soon!

I look forward to that day

  3. Ugh, I can't believe Colts fans are arguing this. And when you consider that RG3 is likely to show in the top 20, I'd say 23 is far from being overrated. We were 2-14 without luck, and 11-5 with him. As a rookie, he threw for 4000+ yards. To be at 23 on the list seems about fair to me. He gritted us some very tough wins. Ugh, I'll just go spend more time on other sites. This stuff is ridiculous.

I don't believe RG3 should be up there either and he had a heckuva season statistically. Big Ben's season was very close to what RG3's was, but he was ranked in the 60's I believe. As another poster stated, and in my opinion as well, neither of these guys are 1 of the top 23 players in the league "right now".

  4. a personal argument was removed from this thread

please, don't accuse each other of being under the influence. If you disagree, fine but do so without taking personal shots

And if someone takes a shot at you, report it or ignore.........don't respond in kind

    AND Have a nice day!

    Nadine,

By no means was I offended by what was said, and in no way was I going to report NCF. The guy is passionate about what he believes in, and in no way can I hold that against him, regardless of what was said. I just looked at it as a difference of opinion, that's all.

  5. Well that escalated quickly.

Usually happens when you go against thee "Golden Child". haha

Might as well put him in with Elvis and John Wayne. God forbid you say anything negative about them; you best be ready to fight.

I'm just not buying in right now. I need to see A LOT more before I start crowning the guy, especially with how he played last year. I don't doubt the guy is going to be good, but great? We shall see, but he has a ways to go.

  6. Brad Wells (BBS) @StampedeBlue

So, since I wasn't there, tell me what you saw at Colts minicamp today!

    Ben Coe @blcoe

@StampedeBlue Luck looked sharp on his passes, but this D looks dangerous, especially that big nasty d-line.

I'm freaking amped to see this defense in live action.

  7. Wait? What?!? Huh?!?!?

Which Luck are we talking about? Murray Luck, my rookie accountant? I'll accept that.

But Andrew Luck? The quarterback of the Colts? Is that the Luck you were referring to?

He was average? On what planet was he average?

You must be new to America and American football? Your game is soccer, or Rugby, or Chess?

I'd say 'average' is one of the poorest adjectives one could use to describe Andrew Luck, quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts.

Not sure where that came from, but that was an eye-popping whopper!! :omg:

Oh trust me, I was being VERY generous when I typed that.

  8. You said top 2-3 at his position, that means that Peterson as a punt returner is not relevant to this discussion. If you wanted to grade them as overall players, it would be a lot closer. But comparing Peterson to Sherman at the CB position is laughable. Sherman is a lot closer to Revis than Peterson is to Sherman.

Take a look at some of the breakdown from last season. This is an unbiased professional who studied the coaches film and did a CB breakdown based on what he saw. Some really good analysis.

    Sherman:

    One word: Elite

    Peterson:

    http://presnapreads.com/2013/05/19/patrick-peterson-the-numbers-the-tape-the-verdict/#more-605

Looks like a scrub in comparison to Revis and Sherman. His tape seemed full of mistakes. Very surprised that he struggles to be physical at times. I thought the only receiever he struggled against was Crabtree, boy was I wrong.

Yep, I stand corrected about Peterson. haha

From that read on him, it sounds like he's too generous in his coverage and doesn't have confidence in his ability. The potential is there, but isn't any good if he doesn't use it. Thanks for those articles.

  9. I'm guessing you haven't heard that Hayden had surgery in his chest area.... a complication from his life saving surgery last Oct/Nov...

He's not expected to be back until training camp.... and his status at that point won't be known until he can show how healthy he is....

Not sure he's out of the woods just yet..... he probably is.... but with this injury, there is so much unchartered water....

I'm well aware of Hayden's injury he sustained last year at Houston, however he was medically cleared to play since being drafted and had an abdominal injury in Raider OTA's. I don't believe the abdominal injury has anything to do with his heart issue he had.

Also, I did state "if healthy" in my opinion of him winning DROY.

  10. Projected as an inside in a 3-4 if I remember correctly. Plus that is where their holes are with Lewis and Ellerbe gone

He's going to have to do A LOT to be brought up in DROY discussions then. Unless he has a RayRay or Patrick Willis type of year out of the gate its going to be hard for him to get recognized, as ILB isn't the "sexiest" of positions especially for rookies.

  11. "Sanders was done when he went to the Ravens"....No he had some left in the tank-5 picks

in 25 games (He was the nickel corner or else he would have started more games and likely had more picks), He also had a 48 yard Int return for a TD,

"McCallister was good, but he wasn't the most reliable"

Mccalister also had 26 picks in his 10 year career and was a pro bowler, Of course Ed Reed has had his times with sub standard (aka bad) Corners thats just part of a roster changing because of salary cap purposes, you cant keep every good or great player on your team

Jennings had what, 10 picks this year? I don't believe anyone is crowning him. Wasn't Sanders retired for 2 years then came out to play with the Ravens? Regardless, he wasn't anywhere close to the pre-2000's Deion.

Reed has shined regardless of the talent around him, Bethea has not. I agree with the point of him NOT being paid anywhere near what Reed has been making.

  12. Not really. He would need a ton of INTs to beat out one of the pass rushers or Arthur Brown.

Ansah, Mingo, and Jordan, I believe, are going to take a couple of years to fully breakout. Werner and Jones are NFL ready in my opinion, and are most likely going to breakout much faster. Like I said I think its totally possible that Werner can pull it off. Hayden is going to get MAJOR playing time at the start so he's going to get the chance to jump out on guys who are getting limited time at the beginning of the season.

  13. Sanders was done when he went to the Ravens. McCallister was good, but he wasn't the most reliable. Ed has also had his time with corners very comparable to what the Colts have had and still performed very well.

Since you've been researching, who has been lined up with Reed at SS, besides Pollard and Landry? I'm just curious
