  1. We already got a backup NT. I don't think Dixon would be any better than the guy we got and apparently Grigson didn't either because he had a chance to get him but chose not to.

Agreed. I think its rather odd that Chapman is not on the PUP, so how does that work with him being on the reserve/injured list? Is he able to come back when ever the Colts feel he's ready? If that's the case and from the way it sounds Josh could be back fairly soon.

  2. I was just thinkin Igor Olshansky, he is familiar with the 3-4, yeah he played 8 games last year due to injury but he is only 30 and we can put Matthews on the PS (releasing Kashif Moore) if Igor is healthy

I don't think Matthews can go to the PS with the amount of games he's played in already. I don't really see Igor being THAT big of an upgrade to warrant making a move for the guy especially if he's not going to start.

  3. The Dungy-esque approach went out when Dungy retired..............Caldwell was a puppet............nothing more!

No it didn't. The exact same philosophy and mentality was there. Caldwell just did a tick-poor job of executing it, although he tried. I didn't really care for Dungy neither. Its just nice to get away from "soft" football.

  4. I'm really liking the guy. Not to bash the previous regime, but this is what they were missing. Absolutely no fire, nor intensity. Pagano brings it. Yes, these guys are all grown men, but it was so obvious in how complacent they were getting. There was no accountability whatsoever, and I think the whole Dungy-esque approach went in one ear and out the other towards the end(the last couple of years).

I don't think Irsay could have picked a better guy for this team.

  5. Will be a VERY good test as to whether or not he should have been a 1st round pick or not. I wished Ijalana didn't get hit with his injuries because I still think he would have been the better of the two and could have at least helped anchor the right side instead of Justice. I know its hard to come back from 2 ACL injuries, but its not impossible. Look at the LB for Carolina who actually had a very good 3rd preseason game this year and has torn his 3 times.

Castonzo has looked pretty good so far. Lets just hope and pray that he doesn't let Luck get hit too many times.

  6. The good thing about this match-up is that the Bears O-line isn't that much better than the Colts O-line. So, hopefully the Colts D-line can get some things going themselves and gain a little confidence. However, I would have to say the Bears front-4 defensively worries me the most. If the O-line can give Luck just a little bit of time, I think their back 7 can be taken advantage of.

    2. Jerraud Powers and Vontae Davis vs Brandon Marshall and Ashlon Jeffry(whatever his name is): Both powers and davis are going to need to be real smart and aggressive to keep up with these guys. Both Jeffery and Marshall are big dudes, bigger then powers and davis, I definetly know that jay cutler is going to take advantage of that size difference by throwing some bombs or jump balls, lets hope Davis and Powers get some safety help when needed

I REALLY hope they plan on passing the ball. I would much rather have the defense playing the pass than trying to focus steadily on Forte and Bush. However, I look for the Bears to use a lot of delays/draws to set up play action to get the pass rushers up the field and out of the plays. I wish Martz were still OC, at least for this game.

  7. "As a whole, I feel only bad for defeat against the Redskins, but not for the loss, but for the poor o-line play. It was the only game wen the O-line didn't provide enough protection for Luck, he was under continuous pressure and was also sacked three times."

I think it was good for both the O-line and Luck to have to endure that. For one, I'm pretty sure the ENTIRE O-line was put on notice that changes will be made immediately if that continues into the regular season. However, I think it was good for Luck to get "roughed up" per se. I think it will definitely help in the long run of a.) getting rid of the ball quicker and b.) build confidence in knowing he can handle the hits. The guy is already miles ahead of where I thought he would be, but that added, although negative, experience was very beneficial for him. The boy is going to be good...

"There are also questionable slots on the roster like CBs and in my opinion G too"

I believe our secondary is in much better shape than it was a year ago. The main thing with these guys is just staying healthy. Although I have to say I haven't in the least been impressed with Josh Gordy so far. I'm still trying to figure out what Grigson seen in this guy to make a play for him. The good things is that even if Vontae comes in and is no better than what he's been in the last 3 years, its still a significant upgrade for the Colts. I think they will be fine.

The G's, ehhh, they need help on that right side. I really hope once cuts are made they can get something manageable to help hold that side down until next year. Also, I'm not so sure Justice will make it all season starting at RT either. Again, hopefully once cuts are made they can bring in some guys who are better than what we have now.

I think they will be ok. There are going to be some growing pains, but all in all, I look for them to surprise some people. I think if the defense can at least be somewhat formidable and get off the field, the offense is good enough to keep them in games. I wouldn't be shocked with 5 wins, but with a few lucky bounces I wouldn't be shocked to see 9 wins either. The schedule isn't that overly difficult. We shall see....

  8. And another thing from what I've read on this thread:

Giving Freeney a free pass since its preseason... "Its preseason, Freeney never really does anything in preseason..."

I don't really think thats very fair to the other guys (Hughes, Addison) who are playing their *es off right now and thriving in the system while Freeney, who hasn't really done anything, gets a free pass. Even Mathis was out there putting in work last night. Regardless of his name or how much he makes, as a coach or even GM, I would be putting my best guy out there. No matter the circumstance I want to see the players going hard ALL OF THE TIME, not just when they feel its necessary.

  9. First of all, how goes it Colts fans... Long time reader and long time Colts fan. I figured I would venture over here as I am regular over at cbssports.com in the Colts section there, but find it to be much more busier over here..

Now in regards to Freeney. When looking at him and what his "value" will be to the team in referrence to what he's going to be paid and what we will actually see out of him, I, personally, don't expect to see him live up to his $19MIL price tag. To me he would need to win DPOY, and break the sack record for me to consider his $19MIL price tag worth while. I just don't see it and I HIGHLY doubt anyone on here see's that out of him this year.

As a fan its hard to look at the "business" aspect of things, but we have to put ourselves in Irsay's shoes and look at whats best for the team. Cutting Freeney would, in my opinion, would benefit the team more in the long run than "going all in" on a player whom we have no idea what will do.
