  1. Something you might find cool given your musical tastes.

  2. When you go without watching television and avoiding news, all of a sudden the world isn't a bad place anymore. One more week and my TV is off for good until August.

There's nothing wrong with taking a temporary break from the news once in awhile, but like RG said, I need to stay informed of the world around me. That's how I roll anyway.

I usually get my news from my salespeople. "Hey, did you hear about?"......Usually I haven't. But, that way I don't have to see the graphic stuff that goes along with it. Suits me just fine. And, Brent keeps me updated on the stuff I really need to know about.

  3. GONE GIRL WOW WOW WOW. One of the best movies I have ever seen...this should be a study in Sociology classes, wow!

That's the entire point of my praise. Movies like that that make you think. It had a lot of stuff in it that broke down society, it was totally worth every minute of watching.

It's on my list of films to see eventually Bogie. I know Jules liked it. Sooner or later, SW1 will write a review of it on the forum. The beauty of that is by the time I see it everybody else has already watched it. Therefore, no need to fret over any plot spoiler alerts.

  4. Found a brand new DiMarzio D100 Super Distortion bridge pickup (humbucker) in my storage room.Never been used. It does NOT have F Spacing. not sure if I should trade this or not. No F Spacing, so that kills putting it in an actual comfortable guitar (Stratocaster)

If it's money hurting you, I'd suggest looking into Squier. There's no way I'll be buying another Fender in the future since the prices are outrageous, and I don't even see where it's worth it anymore. For under 500 bucks, Squier has those Classic Vibe guitars which are awesome. The praises have been sung through the roof on the Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster, that's probably the best guitar Squier makes (and the most expensive sitting at $379)

Squier has the Affinity Series Strats that are under 200 dollars brand new (or they were last time I was in the guitar store). Great guitars, and you get a wide range of colors with some of them. The Burgundy Mist and Shell Pink colors come in the Affinity series. You can get them in the traditional S/S/S configuration or with a Humbucker in the bridge.

Also the Squier Bullet series isn't bad either. I'd say Squier gives you more choices of colors than Fender does these da...

**I'd say Squier gives you more choices of colors than Fender does these days - BLAH message got cut off on me.

If you're looking for something to mod though, I don't know if the Affinity Strats are what to choose cause the nut size is different and the necks are a little smaller. But Squier does make awesome stuff for the cheap price if you're to look mod anything. They have way more colors too than you get from Fender. Ever since I laid eyes on that Burgundy Mist...

  5. The Kenner 1995 Star Wars "Power of the Force" figures are now 20 years old. Why are they not consider vintage yet? They should at least be in the near future. Sigh...I feel old.

Serpico definitely sounds like a must see film with corruption in play & sadly once you are categorized as a criminal that label never is allowed to leave you by other members of society. Plus, if you are never given a chance at upward mobility through a legal means what else is a person supposed to do starve? Again, I've never seen Serpico, but I think I can anticipate some of the crucial themes throughout. Good stuff.

Small or not, your Star Wars collection would be cool to see since all of my Lucas memorabilia blew away in an 84 tornado. You seem like a person with intriguing interests off the beaten path. I like that. Yeah that sucks when computers die & you lose well written documents that you poured your heart into. I've been there man. It really blows. Thanks for breaking down major Serpico themes for me. I do know that Scarface is a top 100 flick by the American Film Institute. It's been...

It's been years since I've seen it [scarface] though. I go thru phases where I crave watching a good villain on screen or a genuine guy who is a sincere anti-hero just trying to get by & facing obstacles at every turn from a familiar past they are trying to leave behind, but simply can't or they aren't allowed to let it go.

Same thing happened to me Bogie. Kept getting error messages. Come to find out, my faithful classic 160GB iPod had died a slow 10 year old death. This was several years ago and I ran straight over and got a new one. I needed something to handle ginormous amounts of music and nothing else.

Weird video that is hard to understand...depending on how to look at it. The man is waiting for a date that is never going to show up...probably a lover that died or an old friend. Some how parallels with the young girl who wants her favorite band to show up yet knows they won't.

    3. Jules

      Jules

Interesting video. I see a parallel with grown up despair portrayed by the man against the youthful innocence of the young girl. Both are full of hope that someone is going to show up. But, neither will get it. The why part is up to interpretation but both long for it. And in the end we are all hopeless.....just waiting......for nothing. But, in the end all you can often do is laugh and live in the moment.

    4. Synthetic

      Synthetic

Great interpretation. it's a well done video.

  12. Burgundy Mist is my favorite Fender color, just cause it's purple...and now Squier puts them on the Classic Vibe 60 Strats...for under 500 dollars; now that is a guitar you dream about, cause it's affordable

They look awesome. I'm a sucker for anything purple, have always wanted a purple guitar.

They put it on the Classic Vibe 60's strats that are affordable. And that's the best thing about going cheap on guitars, you get a better selection of colors. Fender is so overpriced these days, I doubt I will ever buy anything from them again. I just don't see where an American made strat is worth 1,200 dollars.

Purple Rain is an emotional song too. First time I ever seen the movie, oh yeah I teared up watching that for the first time. He does not play it much either, also Let's Go Crazy, he cranked up his guitar for that.

The economical high gain stuff actually records pretty well. I wouldn't use it on stage personally, as the tone is underwhelming at high volume, but yeah, it works well for what it is.

    4. Synthetic

      Synthetic

I haven't fooled with band stuff in such a long time. It's more of a hobby for me these days.

it's rare I play with high gain anymore, I broke this thing out to try and get a tone to play along to the Mercyful Fate LP's, and I was surprised how well it held up. I've practically got their 90's era tone from In The Shadows.
