Day #3 of monster ear infection - still can barely hear on my left side, but that don't stop me from listening to the jams.
-
Musicology Myth of the day - "back in the day people wrote their own songs and no autotune" Not true. Autotune was called 'backing singers' back in the day, and most of your favorite pop songs from the 50's and 60's were indeed covers or written by a studio writer. The studio is a magic factory. Don't hate on it.

The studio has always used a number of effects that people forget about. Overproduction does exist today, but I get tired of hearing about how super perfect everything was orthodox and absent of effects back in the "good old days". It's much easier to record digitally today than it was 30 years ago with analog.

Rolling Stones reissue of Sticky Fingers - I don't care about the bonus disc. I'm sure they'll re-record the vocals like they did for the 2011 Some Girls deluxe. However, I WILL buy this if it has the zipper on the album like the original LP!

Studio Magic with John Lee Hooker groovin' it out

Wishing a special 69th HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DR. Mike Murdock. You have brought me so much (unintentional) joy of pure comedy since i first discovered you last year. The jokes write themselves

That new Star Wars trailer made me feel it was 1996 all over again
-
This is literally the coolest Star Wars related thing ever

Rolling Stones' Miss You - some days I just cannot get that out of my head. Has one of my favorite bridges in a rock song. Keith Richards playing Country licks, nothing gets better than that

This song is so amazing, it was literally made by God himself; see his name in the link?

This is the season to have nosebleeds and extreme allergy problems not even 3 days in.

1 week without the big blank screen called the TV and I'm lovin' it. Only thing it's really useful for anyway is playing video games, but that don't count. I get nothing out of TV without throwball season.

PSP external battery is busted. Does anyone still play these things? I am thinking about getting a new one to play Castlevania Symphony of the Night on...any recommendations?

Non-stop rain and wind! Woo! Only on the gulf coast, this summer is going to be a great one

I guess Jasc Animation Shop codecs do not cooperate with Windows 8.1...sigh. For once I actually miss Vista. Can't use a simple conversion of an avi video to make a gif for an ad I am working on.

It's snowing in Florida (Another reason to wish I still lived there) and synth has never died! This song should be played in a club somewhere -

my brain hurts a lot.

I got a STACK of albums tonight I've never listened to - First Impressions - Gary Numan Dead Son Rising. I should have bought this album when it came out in 2011, his best work since Exile (1998), very good record so far

Crazycolt: That was awesome you did that! I'm sure they really appreciated that. Unrelated issue: I would love to talk with the heads of these communication/music programs at these colleges. I go to job fairs and there are so many kids that have graduated and interested in on-air jobs in radio and these jobs are diminishing. It makes me sad for these kids. The radio business has changed so much. They need more engineering/IT/sales related jobs in radio.

Dreamed I was in a John Hughes movie...with no John Candy! Talk about disappointment. No Uncle Buck, what a bummer.

Horns supplied by Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, joined with the Brecker Brothers. The UFO is real, and it's funky. Mothership, god this record is so awesome

No problems Jules. I always enjoy your comical deviations. Neither you or Bogie have anything to apologize for ever. Off topic: I hope you 2 are getting a kick out of my Bogie & Bacall film festival review session BTW. I'm really gaining an appreciation for their on screen chemistry actually & I owe u 2 a debt of gratitude for that. Thank you.

Dark Passage is a good one, and the Big Sleep. Big Sleep is obviously their best film together, Bogart as a detective, the noir in that is supreme. I didn't really care for To Have, and Have Not. It's OK, a bit overrated. Key Largo is great since Edward G Robinson is playing a villain and he gets a chance to really shine in that film as a sorta reincarnation of his character from Little Ceaser (my favorite of his). Edward G was an awesome mobster on screen.

If you watch Dark Passage, that's an interesting movie for the first person camera angle in the first hour. There is some interesting parts in that too, which is told from Bogie's perspective in first person, since you're watching the people walk up to him and make eye contact, like the scene where the guy stops him to ask if he knows him from somewhere cause he's dressed nice. Some say, it's a bit disappointing when he comes on camera, cause the first person scenes are th...

Thanks for the key Clapton update Bogie. I will definitely check it out. I just watched the Grammys. I loved what Prince said decked in shiny sherbet orange. "Books matter, black lives matter, & albums [not just singles] matter. Madonna was good, Annie Lennox was good, Rhiana was good, ELO was good, & the Live "Stay with Me" performance with Mary J. Blige was quite moving.

First Sunday without sports and it feels great. No ritual before 12 PM, no constant hearing about Alabama from the day after. Spring is going to feel good soon

Swimming in a pond of mediocre to good R&B albums of the 70's that everyone forgot about or didn't care about back then.

One thing I DO miss from the 90's Beavis and Butthead making fun of music videos
