  1. He may have been super nervous, but he wasn’t so worried that he felt the need to trade up one spot to insure he got AR. He stayed put and still got the player he wanted.
  2. This story is out there, and odds are will be referenced by the broadcasting crew during the game. I hope the fans are loud enough to have them say maybe Lucas Oil should now be ranked even higher!
  3. Arrowhead has been one of the loudest stadiums since the day it was built which is also long before Taylor Swift was even born.
  4. With hindsight, and more perspective, I don’t have a problem blaming Frank. My biggest problem with 22 is that the fans got no answers of all that went wrong. At his year end press conference, Ballard’s first words were “I failed…” and that seemed to take the steam out of the media. They didn’t ask many tough questions that I had, and I was left wanting more answers. Hugely, hugely disappointing to me. I’m still angry about it. A year with Steichen has me re-thinking a good number of views.
  5. Nice re-cap. The only thing I’d add, is that a bunch of top players got covid in the last two weeks. Wentz did…. I think 3-4 of the OL did. And a few other key players as well. I think the lackluster performance those last few weeks could be attributed in part to getting Covid. I know some here won’t subscribe to this perspective but I think it’s the only logical reason that explains such a large falloff in performance when you’d least expect it.
  6. It’s Fox, what can I say…. Over on ESPN, and NFL.com, the Colts are 13th and 14th. That’s far more reasonable.
  7. IMO, there would be no shame in losing to CJ Stroud. Quarterbacks of his ability have won big games before. Even if you think he’s ranked somewhere in the middle, that’s still pretty high for a rookie, and as you noted, he can get hot. It'll be interesting to see what Bradley throws at him. As others have said, this is a playoff game. Win and in, lose and go home. You have to incorporate some wrinkles. Something unexpected. A couple of key plays on a few key downs can make all the difference. Can’t wait!!
  8. So sorry for your loss. It’s always hard and it doesn’t get easier. I’m glad you had so many good years with your friend. But I’m sorry you didn’t have more. And yes, cancer really sucks.
  9. More soap box for you! I say it every year, but wish you’d post more often. More jskinnz equals better discussions here on the website. And that’s always a good thing. As the President of your Fan Club I endorse this position!
  10. I think it’s quite possible that by the time some of the starters beg off with various excuses that will be called injuries or illness, some of our guys who have been “left off” will eventually make the roster. Seems to happen every year.
  11. A few things to remember…. Ballard prefers his corners to be at least 6’0” with arms at least 32 inches long. There are other requirements, but these are the base marks. So from the start, the number of corners the Colts will consider is smaller than most other teams. The Colts pride themselves in drafting athletic players and, if need be, teaching them techniques at the NFL level. So if they think a guy who meets those requirements and is athletic enough, the Colts believe they can teach them zone skills and techniques. It’s a different approach, but the Colts believe in it.
  12. Im sincerely sorry for your situation. That sounds like Hell. But I’ve been with my wife for over 30 years, and we’ve had our fair share of arguments involving plenty of screaming which got us nowhere. So now, whenever things begin to heat up, I walk out of the room we’re in. I go upstairs or downstairs, away from my wife. I’ve spent a night in a hotel. So I’ve practiced what I preach here. And it’s worked for me. But your situation sounds dramatically worse than anything I’ve been through, so I’m not comparing my life to yours. It sounds like you’re no longer married to that person. I hope she’s completely out of your life. I wish you happiness as your life moves forward.
  13. I’m not a lawyer, I rarely even play one here. I try to be more of a Big Picture guy. Maybe Ogletree can sue his girlfriend in civil court? I don’t pretend to know? I just find the whole thing tragic and feel sad for all involved. Im not trying to avoid your comments, I just don’t have any response for you.
  14. This thread is about a week old…. I was in it at the start when info was coming to light, but I’ve mostly stayed out of it because I’m so disappointed by what has happened. In the first day or two, I saw some comments of this nature….. “Who cares, he’s just a 6th round draft pick?” “Who cares, we don’t even throw to him that much, he doesn’t even have 10 catches.” A reminder on Ogletree…. He has barely scratched the surface of what he might be someday. In the PFF rankings out this week, Ogletree is ranked 24th out of 72 tight ends who have played enough to be graded. He’s in the upper-third of ALL tight ends. And he’s doing that while learning how to play the position. In other words, that fact that he’s already playing at a high level means someday he might be a monster, a high level talent. Just probably not for the Colts. Community outrage may force the team to cut or trade him. He didn’t play last year, he got hurt in the pre-season. So this is his first year playing in the NFL and he’s already really good. What could have been…. Honestly, internally, I’d guess the Colts are HUGELY disappointed and frustrated over this. To lose a diamond in the rough like this is a very tough loss for a franchise.
  15. Tweez…. I like you. You’re a good poster. I take no satisfaction telling you I don’t think you’re making good arguments. But I don’t think you’ve thought this all the way through. If I make Ogletree’s girlfriend bigger, say 5’10” and 150, do you feel any better about the argument? I hope not. The moment things got even a little heated in their home, here’s what Ogletree should have done…. He should’ve walked out of his home for at least the night. Stay at a nearby hotel for a night or two until things cooled down. As it is, his promising career is in extreme jeopardy. Frankly, that should be the default position for every professional athlete. Way too much downside and almost zero upside to put your hands on a woman. Short of a woman threatening a man with a gun or knife, just walk away. Get out of a bad situation and let things calm down. I’d like to think Ogletree has deep regret for not handling his private business in a better, smarter way. Bet he’d like a do-over, but it’s too late. Anyway…. Sorry for getting on my soapbox, but I thought I’d explain the bigger picture here.
  16. She’s whatever size she is.. even if she’s 5’6” and 125, he’s 6’6” and 260. And you write about she’s lucky she didn’t get punched. Geez…. I don’t know why you think there’s any humor in this. I find zero.
  17. But he played zone pretty well in his three years with the Colts. His rookie season, he struggled in the first half of the season but was very good in the second half of the season. Rock’s second season wasn’t very good, I think he may have had some injuries. But his third year he was good again. So he was able to okay zone effectively enough during his time with the Colts.
  18. And to add to the many names that have been mentioned we can also add Alex Ogletree. A college WR, and the Colts made him a TE. Whether he ever plays another game for the Colts or not is another story, but the Colts are very willing to change the position of players.
  19. Sincere question for you… The season ends…. And what will your reaction be if Shane lets Bradley go…. OR…. If Shane lets Bradley stay? Im mostly neutral on this. I can live with either decision, though I lean getting a younger more aggressive defensive version of Steichen to take care of that side of the ball. But what will your thoughts be either way?
  20. I’ll share my favorite Anthony Richardson story…. Shortly after getting drafted, AR was at some big civic event getting honored. Afterwards, he does local media, but then, he stays and helps the staff clean up. Someone went up to AR to tell him that this wasn’t necessary, and that there was paid staff there to clean up. But Anthony insisted and stuck around and helped. Now THERE’S a kid who was raised right!
  21. Honestly, as jaw dropping as his physical gifts are, I find myself really liking Anthony the person just as much. A completely likable and relatable young man, easy to cheer for. I hope he has a long career with the Colts. If he does I think Colts Nation will be very happy for a long, long time. And yes, I haven’t felt this way about a player since Luck back at Stanford. And to think…. A year ago I was as skeptical about Richardson as I’ve ever been about any player. I loudly opposed him for many months here. Then the Colts drafted him and everything I’ve read made me like him all the more. I sure didn’t see THAT coming!
  22. I appreciate the kind words about Frank. A good and decent man. I think I recently read that Frank said his NFL days are over, but that he’d still like to coach at a lower level. It got me wondering if Frank might want to coach at a high school like Philip Rivers has, or perhaps a small religious school. Some place he could relax, enjoy life and not have someone breathing fire looking over his shoulder. Frank should enjoy some happiness in his later years.
  23. I was a big supporter of Frank, still am to a degree. But I think there is a night and day difference in what we all see from Steichen to what we all saw from Frank. I think Frank’s offense now feels very 20th century to me while Steichen’s offense feels very very 21st century, very cutting edge or high tech. Every week, I see receivers schemed opened like we rarely did with Frank. It’s eye-popping to me how many times our receivers are open. I now feel like Steichen gives the Colts a different feel and look, and some might say even a potential advantage as we move forward. Earlier today, @Superman said he thinks Steichen might only be using 30 percent of his offense this year. And that we all might see much more next year. This is an idea I floated maybe 3-4 weeks ago and it went no where. I hope now that Superman has said it, it gains traction. Not saying Super is stealing my idea, not at all, I don’t even know if he even saw my post, I’m only saying he’s arrived at the same conclusion I have and I couldn’t be happier. His voice has far more weight than mine. I think the Colts future with Steichen and AR feels very bright to me…..
  24. To be clear…. I like Minshew. Always have, dating back to his one year at Washington State. Heard great things about him then. I’m glad he’s our quarterback (backup) and won’t be surprised if the Colts win. I was happy when the Colts signed him this offseason. I hope within financial reason that the Colts can keep him for at least two more years.
  25. perhaps…. But this week we play Saturday, and not Sunday. That may be the difference.
