  1. I won't laugh that off. CJ Stroud is proof of what the right QB can do for a team. We may be better than them at the skill positions (except QB and Kelce). I'm not sure about defense. Ours isn't very good on the back end. And the tackling has been pretty rough lately.
  2. Remember when the season started, most of the pundits said Houston had the least talent of any team in the league. (Of course, some said it was the Colts too, lol). It goes to show what a smart, accurate QB can do for a team. They remind me of the Colts in 2012 when Luck willed them to the playoffs. And it gives me hope that with AR we can be a real threat next season. I'm not too sure we'll have the same outcome when we face them at the end of the year.
  3. Now that's deep! And I learned something. Thanks.
  4. ...that this team is in the playoff hunt. Don't get me wrong, I love it and I hope it happens. What makes it hard to believe is how ...mediocre (don't want to use the term bad) this team is. Minshew is a roller coaster. JT is out more than he plays, and except for MPJ we really didn't have another WR threat until yesterday. Yes, Downs shows a lot of promise. The defense is near the bottom in just about every important category. Justifiably so, with the inexperience at CB, and missing Grove. (But I love how Jones is playing, and Kenny is a stud). I understand that the main reason we're in the hunt is because of the weak schedule, but you play who you play. We seem to want to lose a little less that the teams we're facing, lol! All that being said, I'm excited we're in the hunt. I don't know how long it's going to last because I wait for that shoe to drop every game now. But it's fun.
  5. Every NFL QB can throw the ball deep. But throwing deep with accuracy is the hard part. Minshew surprised me with those throws today. At the very least it will make teams think twice about stuffing the box now.
  6. Not a big Gus fan. But I do think he’s smart enough to play a defense that takes advantage of (and is restricted by) the personnel he’s given. Even though that soft defense when we have a lead is so frustrating, it’s probably statistically the way to go.
  7. If you see Alice down there, tell her I said Hi!
  8. Yes you do. And Potato patahto. Luck ended his career because of injuries. If you want to go down that rabbit hole, you're on your own.
  9. QBs get hurt, runners or not. Some are exceptionally smart at avoiding contact, like TB and PM. And even they had season ending injuries. You need a mobile QB, and I hope that AR is more Mahomes than Lamar (who’s played 12 games the last two seasons, so the jury is still out on him). RG3 and Luck both had career ending injuries. Look how many starters are out this year. All that being said, there are a lot of very good QBs in this draft. Just sayin…
  10. In general, I agree with you. However, when two stud (I know Chase has yet to prove himself) edge rushers become available IMHO, you take a chance and get one. If he doesn't work out, you lost a high draft pick. If he works out, you pay him what they're getting. Then you have a D line that Gus needs to run his defense. Pressure on the QB without the blitz. So, I'm not disagreeing with you in the greater scheme of things. But there are exceptions to the rule.
  11. Mr. Buckner (and Colts nation) begs to differ with your first sentence, lol! But I understand where you’re coming from. As to the last sentence, we really haven’t been successful finding a star pass rusher in the draft. Some good, some busts. And we blew the chance on two guys who have a ton more potential already. Plus, you know how Ballard is in Free Agency. Not exactly a spend thrift, and star edge rushers won’t be cheap. I haven’t looked at the 24 draft class, so I could be dead wrong there. Still, I’d take a proven guy first up if he were young.
  12. I think we still need an edge rusher. Samson is good, Kwity is good at setting the edge. We get a lot of sacks mainly due to Buck. But it sure would be nice to have a guy that defenses have to scheme for when he's out there. It also takes their TE out of play a lot. I was very disappointed we didn't go after the two Washington players. Yes, he would have been a rental and expensive to keep. But if he works out, it's well worth it.
  13. Apparently the Eagles are too. He’ll go somewhere that doesn’t really need him to start, and is in playoff contention. Good depth piece with little risk.
  14. If I remember right, he looked pretty good in the preseason games. I thinks he was our leading receiver, but I could be wrong.
  15. That’s amazing to me. I know we have an easy schedule but you play who you play. But when you think about having a QB who can’t throw the long ball, which hurts our strength, the run game, it’s a wonder we win any games. Even with AR I thought we might win 8 games. After he went down, I thought we were done. And yet, there are still “fans” hoping we lose out to get a higher draft pick.
  16. It’s kind of hard to catch the ball if they don’t throw to you. If you watched the game, he was very good and great in run blocking. If you only look at stats, you’re missing a lot.
  17. I’m not arguing about that, I was just correcting an earlier post. Earlier I did say rich people are treated differently by the justice system, good and bad. Mostly to their advantage. But sometimes to make an example.
  18. That was my point when I responded to that post. He didn’t say he was pulled over because there was prejudice at him being a billionaire. He said that was why he was arrested.
  19. He never said that’s why he was pulled over. Read the article.
  20. I read that article and thought it was trash. The writer went out of his way to make it about race. On the surface what Jim said is true, high profile people are treated differently than the general populous. For good and bad. I applaud Jim for speaking his mind. Even if you’re not allowed to have an unpopular opinion anymore for fear of being cancelled.
  21. The two ones were from last season. I think they’re going to keep him, but the closer it gets to the end of his contract, the less leverage theyll have. Probably franchise him. IMHO, he’s worth a 1.
  22. We have a potential mismatch with Ogletree and even MAC. But we rarely use the TEs anyway.
  23. He’s basically a very nice Bill Belicheck.
  24. Exactly. The correlation between great GM and great QB is obvious. You really can’t be a great GM without one (isn’t that right Mr. Belichick?). Now that Ballard has the low cost franchise QB (and I think he does) there’s no excuses.
  25. Of course the players agent is going to get a second opinion. That doesn’t make it false. If you’re interested, this article explains it well. https://www.theinjurysource.com/post/montezsweat#:~:text=Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a,is also pronounced “hocum”. Getting back to Ballard, IMHO you get a needed player when they’re available. You want to improve your team, no matter when. I think we have the QB and LT. I don’t think any would say we have the elite edge. @MikeCurtis I think an elite edge is worth the price. Just MHO, but put Young or Burns next to Buck and Grove, with Kwity setting the edge…scary!
