  1. Since people seem to be relying more and more on PFF grades to guide their ‘perception’ of a player and tying it back to the ability of their GM, wondering how long it will be before PFF starts charging GM’s extra to ‘enhance’ their player grades. It appears to be subjective and created manually overnight by a dude in his mom’s basement, so I can see an extra money stream to fund his next techie gadget! Maybe /s, maybe not.
  2. I thought this message board traded Smith a couple weeks ago?
  3. This is certainly not the place to come to for therapy! A lot of negative, which you’d expect from opposing fans trolling and hoping AR is not the guy, but not from Colts fans. Left the game yesterday thrilled with getting the win, happy that we have a backup that can come in seamlessly, and nervous that AR will have a long recovery, missing much needed reps this season. Should’ve simply dropped when the play wasn’t there instead of taking on 2 defenders, but hopefully that’ll be addressed. This thread ranges from AR sucks to he’s OK to he’s generational. For now, we’ll have to trust a well respected coaching staff getting paid to make the decisions on what is best for the franchise. Good problem to have, a young dynamic QB who is way ahead of the curve (I’d heard he was wildly inaccurate and hadn’t learned the position, needing up to 3 years to make a difference), and a very good backup we can trust to get it done (I’d heard he was never going to be more than a career backup). The best part is since we’re not quite there yet to battle the elites like SF or KC, and others in the top tier, we’re afforded the opportunity for this team to grow this year while still achieving exciting wins no matter who is behind center.
  4. And the answer is no, AR will never be as good a backup as Minshew. But AR is definitely a better starter!
  5. We all have our own opinions on players based on our knowledge. I respect that you’ve assessed Lawrence as not a top 10 QB. My opinion differs. I believe that over 22 teams would take him in a heartbeat, which puts him in the top 10. That’s fine if you believe otherwise. It does make me curious as to which 10 teams would pass on him in your opinion?
  6. If you’re sitting underneath the R or the B in Harbaugh (ring of honor), look out!
  7. We do have great (and noisy) fans, and we do ebb and flow with the energy of the team. I try to do my part, but now that I’m in my 50’s, too much yelling gets me light headed and I’m afraid I’ll pass out and fall over the edge!
  8. I really didn’t believe you see GM as the guy. You’re a smart poster, but also a bit contrarian (a good thing), so just drawing you out on that one. The points you make about AR are exactly why he needs to be playing. If he was a hot mess out there, then I’d agree with bringing him along slowly. But he’s already shown the game is not too big or fast for him, so let him grow his experience beyond 13 college games. This year is like the Luck rookie year. Low expectations filled with pleasant surprises. Being out there also means he continues to learn how protect himself, and he already showed signs of that against the Rams. Cheers.
  9. We’ll have to agree to disagree. You see Minshew as The Guy. I see AR as the future who needs as many reps as he can get. My football knowledge tells me that Minshew is a very good career backup. However I do agree that W’s and L’s are more complex this season, which is exactly why we need to play AR.
  10. This was supposed to be a season of development for AR with low probability of winning games. Ironically, with AR being well ahead of the curve, we have a shot of winning any game, which has some thinking Minshew gives us a better chance to win. Playing so well that playoffs seem reasonable, leading some to question whether you should be benched in favor of a backup level QB! Lot of unpacking to do with that. Crazy.
  11. My apologies. I was going off of what experts and stats are saying. I wrongfully ignored the opinions of opposing fans.
  12. One thing he’ll continue to learn and get comfortable with is throwing to receivers before their break or just throwing over the top in tighter coverage. He had Pittman open on the deep ball well before he threw it (the one Pittman got interfered with, no call). Could’ve been a nice walk-in TD.
  13. Probably need to chill. We’ve lost 2 games to top 10 QBs. We were in both games and the secondary made some nice plays in each. Stafford had a lot of time to pick on us today. No NFL secondary can stick to receivers that long.
  14. I mean, Stafford is pretty good. I saw some extremely small windows being threaded. We’ll get better.
  15. The good news is that likely over 99% of fans (or people in general) are respectful and decent. The bad news is that even less than 1% is still a significant number and establishes the perception the world is going to hell! And unfortunately that 1% has a real and terrible impact on society.
  16. We can’t get through a Pittman appreciation post without turning it into a Pierce trashing. For what it’s worth, Pierce’ rookie year output exceeded Reggie’s rookie year and nearly matched his second year output. Most WR’s take time to develop in the NFL. Gotta look at the good with Pierce and there have been some really good moments, including a couple grabs in the Ravens game.
  17. I understand these threads, but fans need to understand that situational play calling can go either way with results that vary throughout the game. There’s another pretty good coach on the other side getting paid to call the defense. We have the benefit of hindsight after every play. With coaching, you gotta look at the overall body of work. Are the players ready to play each game, are they disciplined, and do they play hard? Are they winning their battles more than they lose, and most importantly, are they putting more points on the board than the other team? So far, it’s looking pretty good.
  18. I think you meant to say ‘extreme over reaction’. We’re blessed to have 2 really good tackles anchoring our line. With the size and speed of defensive players in todays NFL, tackles are not plug and play.
  19. The assumption on Richardson’s career seems to be that 1. He’s at his ceiling and will not continue to grow beyond his 13 games in college, and 2. He won’t learn how to protect his body and continue to take unnecessary hits against his coaches wishes. I mean, come on, we give every other player the benefit of the doubt that he’ll improve, until he doesn’t. AR was supposedly drafted as a project who would take time to develop, and that’s all we heard throughout the summer. But in just 5 quarters at the highest level of football, he’s already surpassed expectations, and some here seem to be nervously looking for any negative they can find. Wondering if the people who don’t want to see him succeed are living in your heads. Imagine if the risk the Colts took in the draft actually pays off. Trust me, opposing fan bases are getting nervous.
  20. I suppose you could write AR a letter and tell him to look AP’s way this Sunday. I’m sure he’s aware of your influence on this board.
  21. I remember everybody saying it will take time for AR to grow, Steichen to settle in, and not to expect much this season like it was yesterday. After one game of exceeding expectations, fans are already panicking? That was fast!
  22. Very excited about his debut. People always say ‘but he only played 13 games in college’. I look at it as ‘he looks damn good for only playing 13 games in college!’. Think how good he’ll be after 13 games in the NFL!
  23. Hopefully Comp has a better experience. Downtown is safe, but for whatever reason, the mall is deserted. Around the mall are a lot of good restaurants, and the corners within the city have been rejuvenated. Mass Ave to the northeast, Fountain Square to the Southeast, IUPUI (college) to the northwest, and the southwest near Lucas Oil is starting to build out. We’ve always felt safe there, but yes, like any city, there can be problems off the beaten path.
  24. Anything near corner of Georgia St and Meridian St is good. District Tap, Killroys, or Brothers are good pregame restaurants and keep you within walking distance of Lucas Oil. Start filling up at 10 am on game days, so need to get there early, especially for game 1 with a new QB!
